Abstract

This study aimed to determine basic teaching skill level of pre service Biology teachers in one of private university in Indramayu in terms of their skills in opening, probing question, stimulating, conducting core activity and closing teaching activity. Subjects were 90 Biology Education Program. This study use ex post facto approach with quantitative descriptive research methods. Data were collected using teacher observation and peer assessment sheet. The instruments used were teaching assessment rubric and questionnaire data. The data obtained were processed and analyzed in the tendency table to determine criterias in describing pre service Biology teachers’ basic teaching skill mastery. Result showed that pre service biology teachers were sufficiently skillful in opening, probing question, conducting core activity, and closing teaching activity whereas in giving learning stimulus they were deemed skillful.  Keywords: basic skills teaching, biology teacher candidates, biology learningABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Tingkat Keterampilan Dasar Mengajar Calon Guru Biologi di salah satu universitas swasta di Indramayu dilihat dari segi keterampilan membuka pelajaran, keterampilan bertanya, keterampilan memberikan variasi stimulus pembelajaran, keterampilan melaksana-kan kegiatan inti pembelajaran dan keterampilan menutup pembelajaran. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 90 mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Biologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan ex post facto dengan metode penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan observasi oleh dosen dan teman sejawat (peer assessment). Instrumen yang digunakan ialah rubrik penilaian mengajar serta angket. Data yang diperoleh diolah dan dianalisis ke dalam tabel kecenderungan dengan kriteria yang telah ditentukan untuk menggambarkan Tingkat Penguasaan Keterampilan Dasar Mengajar Mahasiswa calon guru Biologi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan membuka pelajaran, keterampilan bertanya, keterampilan melaksanakan kegiatan inti pembelajaran, dan keterampilan menutup pembelajaran adalah cukup terampil, sedangkan keterampilan memberikan variasi stimulus pembelajaran dikategori-kan sebagai terampil.Kata kunci: calon guru biologi, keterampilan dasar mengajar, pengajaran biologi

Abstract

Miskonsepsi siswa dalam Mata Pelajaran Biologi disebabkan pada proses pembelajaran sebagian guru kurang memperhatikan konsep awal yang dimiliki siswa sehingga mereka sulit mempelajari konsep baru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil miskonsepsi siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Sliyeg Indramayu pada materi sistem ekskresi melalui penugasan peta konsep. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif deskriptif dan desain penelitiannya yaitu Pre-Experimental Designdengan bentuk One-shot Case Study. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh kelas XI MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Sliyeg Indramayu yang terdiri dari empat kelas dengan jumlah siswa 145 orang.Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik penarikan sampel Purposive Samplingdan diperoleh sampel yaitu kelas XI MIPA 4. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu tes pilihan ganda beralasan disertai dengan CRI (Certainty of Respon Index)untuk mengeyahui miskonsepsi siswa dan angket untuk mengetahui respon siswa terhadap peta konsep. Setelah dilakukan pengolahan data, didapatkan hasil bahwa telah terjadi miskonsepsi siswa dalam kategori rendah pada materi sistem ekskresi dengan persentase rata-rata sebesar 18,8%. Hasilmiskonsepsi tersebut berhubungan dengan peta konsep yang dibuat siswa.

Abstract

One of the world of education components that specifically aims to develop students' creativity is the Youth Scientific group (KIR). Based on the case studies, information was obtained that KIR participants generally still have difficulty generating ideas. Some of the factors that caused KIR participants' difficulty in creating ideas were lack of knowledge and the absence of a guide to guide them in making ideas. The purpose of this study was to develop a technical guidebook for making ideas for KIR students. Products are developed through development research in a sequence of steps: Define, design, and develop. This study provides the results that the product being developed has the following characteristics: 1) consists of 2 parts, namely the formation of new cognitive schemes and the formation of product idea designs, 2) The section on the formation of the New Cognitive Schema is designed based on the cognitive load theory, 3)The product idea design section is designed based on the Creative Process Learning theory. The product developed has a score with a very decent category but needs to be given significant improvements in the aspect of indicators and the addition of entrepreneurship material and SWOT analysis.

Abstract

Metacognitive skills are essential in 21st-century education because they can hone students' reasoning. Metacognitive skills tend not to be trained much in the learning process and are not used to being assessed so that there is no instrument for assessing students' metacognitive skills. The research aims to develop a product of inquiry-based metacognitive skills on water pollution material, as well as to determine the feasibility of these instruments. This research method uses development research (R&D). The research samples were three lecturers as metacognitive skills experts, evaluation experts, and environmental experts, as well as two biology teachers in high school. The sampling technique was using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques using validation sheets and interview sheets and validation sheets. Instrument products in the form of test sheets and observation sheets. The validation results show that the instrument product is at a very good level. It indicates that the inquiry-based metacognitive skills assessment instrument on water pollution material is suitable for use in schools.

Abstract

Biodiversity is one of local wisdom that should be kept and maintained. Several local governments have different ways of managing and maintaining their existence, including in Krimun village-Losarang, Indramayu District, West Java Province. This study is aimed at finding the information about Suku Dayak people in Losarang (which is not same as Dayak in Borneo Island), how they manage and utilize biodiversity in their surroundings, and how it relates to the local wisdom. This is a qualitative research with instruments consists of interview sheets, field notes, and audio-visual documentation. The subject of this research is the Suku Losarang Dayak people whom are selected through incidental sampling techniques. The study of Ethnobotany includes utilization of 56 species plants as food, three species as boards, nine species for medicine, two species for aesthetics, and nine species for rituals. Ethnoecology here means the conservation of community of the Suku Dayak Losarang people toward surrounding ecosystems that are conserved for the needs of farming, shelter, and ritual. Concerning for ethnozoology, none of the species was used because they have a principle "ngaji rasa". This principle means that they would not be allowed to consume or to make use of the living creatures.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the critical thinking skills of high school students on five-senses material through the usage of inquiry pictorial riddle learning model. The type of the research used is descriptive quantitative with Pre-Experimental Design and type One-Shot Case Study. The results shows that the students' critical thinking ability were vary. Of 32 students, 50% of students can be classified into very good category, 26.5% into good category, and 23.5% students into medium category. The achievement on the five critical thinking indicators of all students were also different, in which the achievement of critical thinking indicator of giving the simplest explanation has the highest percentage of 90% (very good) compared to another indicators, building basic skill has 84% percentage (good), making conclusion 80% (good), and 60% (medium) in giving further information, in which the achievement of this indicator is the lowest compared to another indicator.  On indicator of setting strategy and tactics the percentage is 73 (good). Based on the statistical numbers above, the average thinking ability of all students in grade XI MIPA 6 SMA Negeri 1 Sindang Indramayu is 77% wich can be classified into good category.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pada abad ke 21 kemampuan bernalar merupakan kemampuan yang harus dimiliki siswa dalam memecahkan permasalahan dan proses pembelajaran harus dapat menilai penalaran ilmiah siswa. Akan tetapi hasil lapangan menemukan bahwa pada beberapa guru biologi belum pernah melakukan penilaian penalaran ilmiah pada siswa, sehingga penelitian ini akan mengembangkan instrumen penalaran ilmiah pada materi sistem pertahanan tubuh. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui validitas produk instrumen penalaran ilmiah. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan (RD) dengan pendekatan model 4 D (Define, Design, Develop and Dessiminate). Populasi sampel yang diambil dalam penelitian ini adalah 5 validator yang terdiri dari 3 Dosen sebagai ahli penalaran ilmiah, ahli materi dan 2 Guru praktisi. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sample. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar validasi dan lembar wawancara. Hasil validasi yang dilakukan dua kali berada pada kategori validitas sangat tinggi, hal ini menunjukan bahwa produk instrumen penalaran ilmiah pada materi sistem pertahanan tubuh kelas XI yang peneliti kembangkan layak untuk digunakan.Kata Kunci: Instrumen penilaian; penalaran ilmiah; sistem pertahanan tubuh Abstract: In the 21st century the ability to reason is an ability that students must have in solving problems. In this case the learning process must be able to assess students' scientific reasoning. However, the field results found that some biology teachers have never conducted scientific reasoning assessments on students, so this research will develop scientific reasoning instruments on the body's defense system material. The purpose of this study was to determine the product validity of scientific reasoning instruments. Type of research is development research (RD) with a 4 D model approach (Define, Design, Develop and Dessiminate). The sample population taken in this study were 5 validators consisting of 3 lecturers as scientific reasoning experts, material experts and 2 teacher practitioners. The sampling technique used purposive sample. Data collection techniques using validation sheets and interview sheets. The results of the validation that were carried out twice were in the very high validity category, This shows that the product of scientific reasoning instruments in the class XI body defense system material that the researcher developed is suitable for use.Keywords: Assessment instrument; scientific reasoning; body defense system

Abstract

Kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat tentang pemanfaatan tanaman duwet (Syzigium cumin) berdampak pada minimnya penggunaan tanaman. Sebenarnya tanaman duwet memiliki kandungan fitomyelin glukosida dalam biji sebagai alternatif penyembuhan ulkus diabetes (bisul. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas serbuk biji duwet pada penyembuhan luka pada penderita diabetes mellitus. Uji keefektifan serbuk biji duwet dilakukan pada tikus jantan (Mus Muscullus) yang telah diinduksi alloksan 30 mg/kg dan setelah induksi memiliki kadar glukosa darah> 120mg/dl. Luka dibuat di kulit dorsal dengan cara memotongnya, sayatan berbentuk luka dengan panjang 1 cm dan lebar 0,3 mm. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan desain true eksperimental, menggunakan rancangan posttest only control group design, pengujian dilakukan hanya setelah selesainya perlakuan. Pengujian keefektifan dibagi menjadi tiga kelompok: kelompok kontrol negatif tanpa perlakuan, kelompok eksperimen dengan perlakuan biji bubuk duwet dan kelompok kontrol positif dengan pemberian Povidone Iodine. Pengamatan penyembuhan luka dilakukan setiap hari bersamaan dengan penggantian alas kandang tikus dan memberi makan tikus. Pengamatan luka meliputi ukuran dan warna luka di sekitar luka. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji ANOVA satu arah untuk membandingkan rata-rata lebih dari dua kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa serbuk biji duwet efektif dalam penyembuhan luka diabetes. Penyembuhan luka pada kelompok eksperimen (diberikan serbuk biji duwet) lebih cepat dibandingkan dengan kontrol negatif, namun tidak berbeda signifikan dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol positif (diberikan povidone iodine).

Abstract

Peserta didik belum menguasai soal-soal materi pembelahan sel dan pola-pola hereditas pada penilaian tengah semester dan penilaian akhir semester. Soal-soal latihan pada buku teks yang digunakan siswa belum diketahui kualitasnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hasil analisis pertanyaan uji kompetensi pada buku biologi SMA/MA penerbit Erlangga. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif. Objek penelitian ini adalah pertanyaan uji kompetensi materi pembelahan sel dan pola-pola hereditas sebanyak 95 pertanyaan. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertanyaan materi pembelahan sel didominasi oleh tingkat C1 konseptual denga persentase 30%, sesuai konten kompetensi dasar 3.6 sebesar 88% dan 16% tidak sesuai konten KD, komponen evaluasi terkait pengetahuan termasuk dalam kategori baik, sedangkan pertanyaan pada materi pola-pola hereditas didominasi oleh tingkat C3 prosedural dengan persentase 60%. Seluruh pertanyaan materi pola-pola hereditas sesuai dengan konten KD 3.5, 3.6, 4.5, dan 4.6 dengan persentase terbanyak pada KD 3.6 sebesar 71%, dan komponen evaluasi terkait pengetahuan termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik. Abstract

Background: In online learning, students are required to have adequate smartphones and the internet, so that many obstacles occur, one of which concerns student discipline, especially in attendance and collection of assignments. The purpose of this study was to determine the discipline of students in online learning that took place at SMA Negeri 1 Sindang Indramayu in biology subjects. Method: The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study were 36 students of class XI Mipa 5 SMA Negeri 1 Sindang. The instruments used were in the form of a daily note sheet and an observation sheet. The data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative analysis. Results: The results showed that the level of student discipline was high, as seen from the percentage of student attendance on time of 81% and the percentage of student assignment collection on time of 65%. Conclusion: The discipline of students XI mipa 5 in SMA Negeri 1 Sindang during online learning is high
