Abstract

Emotional intelligence is recognized as an ability to participate influential in determining one's success. This paper will discuss the research results relating to the development of emotional intelligence of students of mathematics. Based on survey results revealed the existence of positive changes in emotional intelligence of students after attending a course using problem-based learning tools.

Abstract

Students' problemsolving abilities can be improved in one way, namely by choosing the right mathematics learning model. One learning model that can be used is the problembased learning model. The aim of this research is to re-analyze the influence of the problembased learning model on students' mathematical problemsolving abilities by reviewing, summarizing data and analyzing several research results that have been published on Google Scholar as many as 14 articles using statistical methods. The type of research in this article is meta-analysis research. The research steps include data collection, coding, calculating the increase in problem solving abilities and effect size, and drawing conclusions. Based on the research results, the average effect size is 2.02 in the very large category. Based on the average effect size, it can be concluded that the problembased learning model influences students' mathematical problemsolving abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to produce a learning design for flat-sided geometry based on Rejang Lebong ethnomathematics to improve students' mathematical problem-solving skills that are valid, practical, and effective. It is motivated by the low ability to solve students’ mathematical problems. Mathematics learning carried out in schools should involve students actively. The research procedure is guided by the Plomp development design. The development model studied by Plomp is the initial investigation, development, prototyping, and research phases. In the initial investigation phase, the implementation of needs, curriculum, concept, and student analyses was implemented. In the prototype development phase, formative evaluation consists of self-evaluation, one-on-one evaluation, one-on-one evaluation, small group evaluation, and testing. Meanwhile, at the time of its application, it was tested on students of class VIII SMP to see the learning outcomes of the learning problem-solving abilities. Based on the development that has been carried out, it is obtained that the learning design of flat-sided geometry based on the Rejang Lebong ethnomathematics in the form of HLT, teacher's books, and books for class VIII SMP students are valid, practical, and effective.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the factors that influence students' academic resilience when completing their thesis at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Padang State University. This type of research is quantitative and descriptive. The population of this study included students form the 2016-2018 session of the Faculty of Economic and Bussines Padang State University, with a total of 473 students who completed their thesis. The data collection technique uses a questionnaire using a sampling technique, namely proportional random sampling technique. The sample of this study included 83 students. The data obtained was processed using descriptive analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. The results of the research show that there are 5 factors that influence the academic resilience of students at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Padang State University, namely the self-regulation factor, the social support factor, the academic procrastination factor, the optimism factor and the spirituality factor. The dominant factor that influences students' academic resilience when completing their thesis is the self-regulation factor.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of the OTKP Laboratory and the problems encountered in the effectiveness of the utilization of the OTKP Laboratory at SMKN 3 Padang. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The research informants were the Head/Coordinator of the Laboratory, the Head of OTKP Expertise Competence, the OTKP Skills competency teacher, and 15 students of class X-XII OTKP using purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews, and documentation. The technique of checking the validity of the data is using technical triangulation and source triangulation. The analysis technique is data condensation, data presentation, drawing conclusions and verification. The results showed that the effectiveness of the use of the OTKP laboratory to support practical learning at SMKN 3 Padang was included in the effective category with a percentage of 74%. Supported by the results of data analysis obtained from input, process and output indicators. Input indicators are included in the category of quite effective with a percentage of 67%. The very effective category process indicator is 87%. The indicator for the output category is quite effective, the percentage is 57%. The problems faced are: There is no special manager or structure for the laboratory yet. The lack of practical equipment can affect the effectiveness of the use of the laboratory. Supervision, maintenance and handling of damaged tools. There are no rules and practical instructions available. Practical equipment is sometimes damaged and error. The graduates created are still not in accordance with the school's goals.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: 1) The influence of the social environment and self-potential on the interest in continuing their studies to college in class XII students of SMA UNP Laboratory Development; 2) The influence of the social environment on the interest in continuing their studies to college in class XII Laboratory Development. UNP High School; 3) The effect of self-potential on the interest in continuing their studies to higher education in grade XII students of UNP High School Laboratory Development. This research is a quantitative research with associative type. The population of this research is the XII grade students of SMA UNP Laboratory Development. The sampling method was determined by the Proportional Random Sampling technique and the sample used was 132 people. Data collection techniques using a questionnaire. This study uses multiple linear regression data analysis which includes F test (simultaneous), determinant coefficient (R2), and t test. The results of this study indicate that the social environment and self-potential have a positive and significant effect on the interest in continuing their studies to college in class XII students of SMA UNP Laboratory Development.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: 1) the effect of learning facilities and the use of learning media on students' interest in learning in the Department of Automation and Office Governance at SMK Kartika 1-2 Padang. 2) The effect of learning facilities on student interest in the Department of Automation and Office Governance at SMK Kartika 1-2 Padang. 3) The influence of the use of learning media on student interest in the Department of Automation and Office Governance at SMK Kartika 1-2 Padang. This type of research is descriptive quantitative using SPSS version 21 program. The population in this study amounted to 90 with total sampling technique. The results of the research that have been carried out are 60.3% which can be concluded that the influence of learning facilities and the use of learning media on learning interest of students in the Department of Automation and Office Management at SMK Kartika 1-2 Padang.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy problems require counting and solving mathematical problems in daily life. This study aims to analyze the ability of junior high school students to solve mathematical literacy problems. This qualitative research uses a case study approach with the subject of 15 junior high school students in the city area. The instrument in this study is six mathematical literacy questions oriented to PISA test questions and interview guidelines. The data analysis technique in this study is thematic analysis. This study's results show three groups of students' abilities in solving mathematical literacy problems based on their initial abilities: Time Stone, Power Stone, and Mind Stone

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of two independent variables, namely the Market Day demonstration learning method (X1) and the TCL learning method (X2), on the dependent variable, which is learning outcomes (Y). This research uses a quasi-experimental design and targets all students of Nirwana Kindergarten. Random sampling was used to determine the division between the experimental and the control classes, with a total sample of 31. The Market Day demonstration learning method was used in the experimental group, while the Teacher-Centered Learning (TCL) method was used in the control group. The findings indicate that the Market Day demonstration learning method significantly improves students' learning outcomes in the experimental group, thereby validating the effectiveness of this approach in enhancing students' learning outcomes.

Abstract

Salah satu standar kemampuan matematika yang berperan besar bagi siswa adalah kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Namun dalam kenyataannya Kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika masih kurang baik. Hal ini dikarenakan siswa kurang berlatih dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal yang memuat kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan soal-soal non rutin, pembelajaran di kelas masih berfokus kepada guru, secara umum, materi pembelajaran yang digunakan terbatas pada buku pelajaran. Oleh karena itu, e-modul berbasis Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah (PBL) dikembangkan dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah. Prosedur pengembangan menggunakan model Plomp yang terdiri dari tiga fase, yaitu fase investigasi awal, fase pengembangan atau pembuatan prototipe serta fase penilaian. Subjek Uji coba adalah siswa Kelas VIII SMPN 1 Painan. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu angket validitas dan angket praktikalitas. Uji validitas dilakukan oleh 3 orang ahli matematika, 1 orang ahli bahasa dan 1 orang ahli teknologi guruan. Uji praktikalitas dibatasi pada tahap Small group dengan 6 orang siswa. Penelitian menggunakan teknik deskriptif dan statistik deskriptif dalam analisis data. Selanjutnya, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa e-modul berbais PBL sudah valid dengan skor 90,51% dan praktis digunakan dengan skor pada tahap small group 81,15% . Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa e-modul berbasis PBL praktis dalam hal keterbacaan dan kejelasan materi, keterpakaian dan kemudahan penggunaan, daya tarik dan kesesuaian alokasi waktu serta praktis digunakan dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa.One of the significant standards for students' mathematical abilities is problem-solving skills. However, in reality, students' mathematical problem-solving skills are still low. This is due to the need for more practice in solving problems that involve problem-solving skills and non-routine questions. Classroom learning is still teacher-focused, and instructional materials rely solely on textbooks. Therefore, an e-module based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) has been developed to enhance students' problem-solving abilities. The development procedure follows the Plomp model, consisting of three phases: the initial investigation phase, the development or prototype creation phase, and the assessment phase. The trial subjects are eighth-grade students from SMPN 1 Painan. Research instruments used include validity questionnaires and practicality questionnaires. Validity testing involves three mathematics experts, one language expert, and one educational technology expert. Practicality testing is limited to the small group stage with six students. Research utilizes descriptive and descriptive statistical techniques in data analysis. The research results indicate that the PBL-based e-module is valid, with a score of 90.51%, and practical for use in the Small group stage, with a score of 81.15%. Based on the research findings, the PBL-based e-module is practical regarding readability and clarity of content, usability and ease of use, attractiveness and suitability of time allocation, and practical for enhancing students' mathematical problem-solving abilities.
