Abstract

Cough is a protective physiological mechanism to stimulate and cleanse the respiratory system of foreign objects that can cause infection. Traditional cough treatment is preferred because of the relatively low side ffects compared tochemical drugs. In some areas, Iler leaves are used as cough medicine. The purpose of this study was to determine the mucolytic activity of ethanol extract of Iler leaves on duck egg white which was added to the test solution every 15 minutes, namely at minutes 0,15,30,45, and 60. Viscosity measurements were carried out in the positive control group, negative control group, 3% group, 4,5% group and 6% group. The results obtained showed that Iler leaves extract was able to significantly reduce the viscosity of duck egg whites compare to the negative control. The ethanol extract of Iler leaves has mucolytic activity against duct egg white in vitro at a concetnration range of 3-6%.

Abstract

ABSTRACTPrevention and treatment with synthetic antidepressants has many side effects that affect the central nervous system and usage must be under the supervision of a doctor. Whereas prevention and traditional medicine relatively do not cause side effects, are inexpensive, and easy to obtain. One example of traditional medicine from natural ingredients, which can provide an antidepressant effect is ginger rhizome. This research aims to determine whether ginger rhizome have antidepressant effects on male white mice. Antidepressant effect testing was carried out on male white mice (Mus musculus) using the forced swim test method. The part of the plant used is the rhizome of the ginger plant. Curcuma rhizome is made with juice and given orally with a concentration of 20%, 40%, and 60%. The negative control used is Na CMC 0.5%, while the positive control used, namely amitriptilyn. The parameters observed were the duration of immobility time, swimming time and climibing time (in seconds) which were calculated from minutes 3-6 for 6 minutes, and statistical tests were carried out with a confidence level of 95%. The results showed that at a concentration of 40% the curcuma rhizome juice had a significant value (p> 0.05) which means that there was no significant difference in antidepressant effect (%) from the juice of temulawak 56.31% and amitriptylin 78.78%Keywords: ginger rhizome, antidepressants, the forced swim test

Abstract

ABSTRAK Khasiat obat tradisional didasarkan pada senyawa kimia yang terkandung dalam suatu bahan obat. Bahan baku obat dari hasil pertanian atau kumpulan tumbuhan liar tidak dapat dijamin kandungan kimianya selalu konstan, karena adanya variasi bibit, tempat tubuh, iklim, maupun kondisi bahan bakunya (umur dan cara panen). Kandungan senyawa kimia yang bertanggung jawab terhadap respon biologis harus mempunyai spesifikasi kimia, yaitu informasi tentang komposisinya baik jenis maupun kadarnya. Oleh karena itu penetapan karakterisasi suatu simplisia dan ekstrak perlu dilakukan guna menjamin mutu suatu produk obat tradisional. Karakterisasi dilakukan terhadap simplisia dan ekstrak etanol 50% daun Stevia rebaudiana (Bertoni). Karakterisasi simplisia meliputi organoleptis, susut pengeringan, kadar sari larut air, serta kadar sari larut etanol. Cara penetapannya dilakukan sesuai prosedur yang telah ditetapkan Farmakope Herbal Indonesia (2008). Karakterisasi ekstrak etanol meliputi karakteristik non spesifik yakni kadar air, kadar abu total, dan kadar abu tidak larut asam. Hasil karakterisasi diperoleh nilai rentang dari tiap jenis parameter simplisia maupun ekstrak etanol daun Stevia rebaudiana yang diperoleh dari daerah Bogor, Malang, dan Tawangmangu. Abstract

ABSTRACTPharmaceutical raw materials from agriculture or collection of wild plant chemical content can not be guaranteed always constant due to variable seed, the body, the climate, the conditions (age and how to harvest). The content of the chemical compounds responsible for the biological response must have chemical specifications, namely the composition information (type and concentration). The efficacy of traditional medicine based on the chemical compound. Therefore, the assay of the active substance a crude drugs and extracts needs to be done to ensure that a traditional medicinal products can be assured of quality and usefulness. The assay performed on botanicals and 50% ethanol extract of leaves of Stevia rebaudiana. The assay of the crude drugs and extracts from the stevia leaf area of Malang, Tawangmangu, and Bogor using High Performance Liquid Chromatograph method. Results of the assay stevioside on simplicia and stevia leaf extract obtained stevioside levels in simplicia stevia leaves from Malang, Bogor, Tawangmangu consecutive namely 5.65%; 3.89%; 1.59%. Stevioside levels in the stevia leaf extract of Malang, Bogor, Tawangmangu respectively, are 14.14%; 22.40%; 66.65%.Key word: Stevia rebaudiana leaf, stevioside content, High Performance Liquid Chromatograph

Abstract

Pengembangan sediaan kosmetik serum yang mengandung bahan alam antioksidan semakin meningkat pesat seiring dengan eksplorasi tanaman yang berpotensi farmakologis. Salah satu bahan alam yang mengandung antioksidan yaitu tanaman tampoi (Baccaurea macrocarpa). Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang optimasi natrosol sebagai basis gel. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan adalah optimasi basis gel sediaan serum kulit buah tampoi. Optimasi basis serum dengan basis gelling agent dan diperoleh satu formula basis terpilih, yaitu Natrosol® 0,50%. Evaluasi meliputi pemeriksaan organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, viskositas, daya sebar, dan daya lekat. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa variasi gelling agent berpengaruh terhadap viskositas, daya sebar, dan daya lekat. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa gelling agent yang paling baik untuk sediaan ekstrak etanol kulit buah tampoi adalah Natrosol® 0.50% karena memiliki viskositas, daya lekat, dan daya sebar yang baik.

Abstract

Kesum leaves are one of the plants that are widely available in West Kalimantan and are used by the community as vegetables or cooking spices. Research on the chemical content of kesum leaves has been carried out by several researchers, but research on whether there are differences in the chemical content obtained from the extraction with several types of solvents in kesum leaves has not been carried out. Therefore, in this study, the chemical content of kesum leaves will be tested. The method used is to test the presence of chemical compounds by phytochemical screening on several kesum leaf extracts using different solvents, namely 70% ethanol, 50% ethanol, 96% ethanol and methanol. The observations obtained were then analyzed descriptively and presented in tabular form. The results of the phytochemical screening test showed that the kesum leaf extracted in 70% ethanol, 50% ethanol, 96% ethanol, and methanol solvent contained phenols, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. Moreover, extract of ethanol 70% and ethanol 50%, also contain terpenoids amd alkaloids, which were not detected on ethanol 96% and methanol extract.

Abstract

Syrup is an oral liquid preparation containing sakarosa. The study aimed to test whether iler leaf extract (Coleus atropurpureus (L.) Benth) could be formulated as a syrup preparation then tested for physical properties and mucolytic activity. The experimental method used to test the mucolytic activity of iler leaf extract syrup in vitro is to measure the viscosity of duck egg whites added to the test solution every 15 minutes, namely at the 0th, 15th, 30th, 45th and 60th minutes. Testing of mucolytic activity was carried out on iler leaf extract syrup with concentrations of 3%, 4.5% and 6%, positive control of acetylcysteine 0.2% and negative control of aquades. The results showed that iler leaf extract syrup at concentrations of 3%, 4.5% and 6% can be formulated as syrup preparations and is able to significantly decrease the viscosity of duck egg whites compared to negative control.

Abstract

Abstrak Asma merupakan penyakit paru yang disebabkan karena inflamasi sehingga terjadi kesulitan bernapas, mengi (wheezing) serta batuk di malam dan pagi hari yang berdampak pada penurunan arus puncak ekspirasi (APE). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi APE pada pasien asma ringan-sedang di Poli Rawat Jalan Rumah Sakit Paru Respira Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini merupakan studi deskriptif menggunakan  design cross sectional dengan sampel sebanyak 28 responden yang sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi selama 1 bulan. APE diukur menggunakan Philips respironics peak flow meter. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa APE seluruh subyek penelitian 50-80% dari nilai standar. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat penurunan APE pada pasien asma ringan-sedang. Penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi informasi tambahan dan pengetahuan bagi perawat mengenai rendahnya nilai APE pada pasien asma. Peneliti selanjutnya diharapkan mampu mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi penurunan nilai APE pasien asma.   Kata kunci: Asma, Arus Puncak Ekspirasi (APE)     Abstrack Asthma is a lung disease caused by inflammation resulting in difficulty breathing, wheezing and coughing in the night and early morning that impact on the decrease of peak expiratory currents (APE). The purpose of this study was to identify APE in mild-moderate asthma patients in Poly Hospital Lung Jalan Respira Yogyakarta. This study is a descriptive study using cross sectional design with a sample of 28 respondents in accordance with inclusion and exclusion criteria for 1 month. APE was measured using Philips respironics peak flow meter. The results showed that the APE of all research subjects 50-80% of the standard value. It can be concluded that there is a decrease in APE in mild-moderate asthma patients. This study is expected to be additional information and knowledge for nurses about the low value of APE in asthma patients. Researchers are then expected to be able to identify the factors that affect the decline in APE value of asthma patients. Keywords: Asthma, Peak Flow of Expiration

Abstract

Kesum leaves (polygonum minus huds) have many benefits. Kesum leaves contain useful compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, and phenolics which can protect against free radicals caused by UV rays and absorb UV rays. This study used the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. Absorbance was measured at a wavelength of 290-320 nm. The determination of the SPF value is based on the Mansur equation. The test results showed that the ethanol extract of daun kesum (polygonum minus huds) had SPF activity on methanol extract (22.803), 50% ethanol extract (20.0606), 70% ethanol extract (24.36), and 96% ethanol extract (25). ,8416) all belong to the ultra protection class.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Telah dilakukan penelitian formulasi sediaan shampoo cair ekstrak etanol daun alamanda (Allamanda cathartica L.) dengan carbopol 940 sebagai pengental. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat formulasi dan menentukan konsentrasi carbopol 940 sebagai pengental yang dapat menghasilkan sediaan shampoo yang baik. Penelitian menggunakan 3 formula shampoo, dengan variasi konsentrasi carbopol 1%, 1,5%, dan 2%. Evaluasi yang dilakukan meliputi uji organoleptis, pH, ketahan busa, bobot jenis, dan viskositas. Hasil dari evaluasi organpleptis didapatkan shampoo ekstrak etanol daun alamanda berbau khas alamanda, berwarna hijau dan berbentuk cair. Hasil pengukuran pH didapatkan formula I dan II 4,2 dan formula III 6,8. Pada pengukuran tinggi busa didapatkan formula I tinggi busanya 6,1 cm, formula II tinggi busanya 4,5 cm, dan formula III tinggi busanya 4 cm. pengukuran bobot jenis didapatkan formula I dan II adalah 1,03 dan formula III adalah 1. Pada pengukuran viskositas didapatkan s formula I 0,43 dPa’s, formula II 0,96 dPa’s, dan formula III 1,5 dPa’s.
