Abstract

: Education and curriculum are a unity to support human life for the better, where the formulation of the curriculum must be based on physiological, sociological, and anthropological foundations to create good and perfect educational goals. Adjusting the curriculum to the times is a response so that education remains relevant and useful for human life. The Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) curriculum is one of the answers to efforts to adapt to the times, where, in its implementation, the MBKM curriculum provides flexibility to educational institutions and students in the learning process to achieve the desired academic goals. In this study, the author will analyze the MBKM curriculum from the point of view of Islamic philosophy initiated by Muhammad Iqbal, namely Islamic educational reconstructionism and theistic existentialism. Although Muhammad Iqbal never wrote a specific work on education, his philosophical values can be used as a foundation in education because they contain a lot of meaning on how to make a complete human being in life. This research uses the library research method by collecting data from scientific journal articles related to the discussion of research and analyzing the data collected and interpreting it in a discussion. The result of this study is that the MBKM curriculum upholds the principles of independence and self-reliance, but in the view of Muhammad Iqbal’s reconstructionism and existentialism philosophy, there are shortcomings, namely the cultivation of intense spiritual values, individual and community relationships, and a sense of responsibility after freedom of choice. So that from Muhammad Iqbal’s point of view, which is based on creativity, freedom, and spirituality, the MBKM curriculum requires a review to create a holistic education to realize an insān kāmil person who is not only proficient in the field of worldly knowledge but also balanced with religious knowledge.

Abstract

The idea of religious moderation has received a lot of attention from academics lately; in 2019, the Indonesian Ministry of Religion released a book bearing a similar title. But the concept of religious moderation has generated mixed responses; some even think that those who practice it are not truly practicing their religion or are not honest in their views. An organization called Campus Da'wah Association (LDK) aims to spread Islam and is almost always present in universities. With this broadcasting responsibility, LDK will probably realize this vision. On the other hand, LDK is more often associated with extremist organizations that have a more conservative understanding of Islam. For this reason, the purpose of this study is to discover what the activists at the Campus Da'wah Institute think about religious moderation. This research uses a case study design in conjunction with a qualitative technique. The research object is the general chairman and the chairman of the cadre division of the Campus Da'wah Association. After that, the researcher used documentation, observation, and interviews. The techniques offered by Miles and Huberman were used by researchers to analyze data. In addition to data validity regulations, researchers employed triangulation techniques. The outcomes of the study show how strongly LDK officials adhere to religious moderation. They are ready to help put the concept of religious moderation into practice both personally and professionally. Numerous attempts have been made to implement projects that align with this ideology. They regret it, though, when some disparage other groups that have different viewpoints and think theirs is the most rational and accurate.

Abstract

The transition of State Islamic Colleges (IAIN/STAIN) to State Islamic Universities (UIN) marks a fundamental shift in the institutional structure and epistemology of Islamic higher education in Indonesia. This article critically investigates the new form of UIN following the transformation era, which successfully integrated Islamic sciences with modern disciplines. Institutional transformation and the development of Islamic thought through an integrative, academic, and contextual paradigm have contributed to this successful transition. This reflects how UIN transformation has become more accommodative and inclusive, with deliberate efforts to integrate various fields of religious and modern sciences. This research is based on a qualitative study using document analysis, expert interviews, and focus group discussions. The article also traces the early dynamics of academic Islamic studies, the emergence of the conversion project, and examines its evolution in the current post-reform era. It argues that significant institutional dynamics and epistemological shifts have revived the academic and critical paradigm of Islamic sciences. Thus, UIN has emerged as a center for multidisciplinary Islamic intellectual currents that are responsive to humanitarian issues and global Islamic academic discourse.
