Abstract

Pada saat melakukan pekerjaan terutama pada saat melakukan pemotongan benda kerja menggunakan brander, masalah yang sering dialami adalah hasil pemotongan yang kurang bagus, terutama pemotongan pelat yang berbentuk lingkaran. Untuk memperoleh hasil potongan yang baik diperlukan kemampuan yang tidak semua orang memilikinya, yaitu kestabilan tangan. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu menghasilkan rancang bangun mesin pemotong pelat yang dapat membantu proses pemotongan pelat berbentuk lingkaran dengan hasil pemotongan yang baik. Metode pada penelitian mendesain,membuat kemudian ujicoba prototype alat pemotong yang efektif juga diperlukan untuk memenuhi permintaan bahan baku produksi yang terus meningkat agar tidak menghambat operasi. Brander adalah instrumen umum untuk memotong pelat. Ada beberapa jenis torch brander yang berbeda, dari manual hingga otomatis. Pelat bundar harus diiris dengan menggunakan berbagai teknik. Dibutuhkan kemampuan khusus dan instrumen tambahan untuk menciptakan bentuk lingkaran yang sempurna, sehingga sulit untuk memotong pelat dalam bentuk melingkar. Diperlukan alat bantu dalam skenario tersebut di atas untuk mempercepat pemotongan pelat bundar. Alat pemotong pelat bundar akan dikembangkan sebagai bagian dari proyek ini menggunakan perangkat lunak SolidWork akan digunakan untuk mendesain alat ini kemudian membuat dan merakitnya. Sehingga didapatkan alat yang mampu memotong pelat bundar dengan diameter mencapai 350 mm dengan begitu dapat membantu industry dikawasan morowali dalam memotong pelat bundar melalui alat pemotong pelat bundar ini. AbstractPoor cutting results, especially when cutting circular plates, are a common issue while working, especially when using a brander to cut workpieces. Good cutting results need a skill that not everyone possesses, notably hand steadiness. The goal of this research is to develop a plates cutting machine design that will aid in the successful circular plate cutting procedure. More effective cutting tools are required due to the rising need for manufacturing raw materials in order to keep up with job demands. A brander is a common instrument for cutting plates. Branders come in a variety of designs, from manual to automated. It is quite challenging to cut a circle plates since it involves a number of techniques, abilities, and extra instruments to get a flawless circular form. A tool is required in the aforementioned scenario to quicken the cutting of circular plates. A circular plates-cutting tool will be developed as part of this investigation. The program Solid Work will be used to develop the tool. Circular plates with a maximum diameter of 350 mm may be cut with this instrument. The authors anticipate that the industry will find it simpler to cut circular plates as a result of the design of this circular plates cutting equipment.

Abstract

Higher education has an important role in the Tri Darma, namely participating in truly educating the lives of the nation and state in society. One step is to make humans no longer objects of development but subjects of development. As a development subject, abilities and skills in mastering science and technology are certainly required. The use of welding technology has developed and is widely used and exploited in the wider community, especially in meeting industrial needs. One of the welding methods is Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), namely welding using an electric arc. The aim of this activity is to increase the welding competency of Bungku Mining Vocational School students by adding special skills in the form of SMAW welding and providing encouragement and assistance so that Bungku Mining Vocational School students are able to provide welding equipment that supports learning in the laboratory. The benefit of this activity is to provide knowledge and train skills in SMAW welding so that it can be used to develop laboratory facilities.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic emerged as a global public health threat. Hence, the potential danger increased the use of health masks, resulting in increased medical waste in the environment. This incident also occurred in Morowali District, especially in the PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park area. The waste produced by employees was disturbing; thus, it required urgent prevention and control of a pandemic. During the pandemic, the industrial area (IMIP) needed to provide various health protocol facilities that directly/indirectly benefited employees' health. This research designed a tool to solve this problem, namely the frame design of the smart shredder machine for face mask waste. This device works automatically (IOT) to shreds, process, and sterilize mask waste. The results of this tool can be monitored through periodic applications for the mask waste sterilization system and the destroyed mask waste storage system. This tool is suitable for placing in high-mobility industrial areas, such as the IMIP industrial area, which has around 60,000 employees.

Abstract

Mesin Impact Crusher adalah jenis mesin penghancur yang digunakan untuk mengubah ukuran material menjadi lebih kecil dengan cara memanfaatkan energi kinetik dari palu atau batang yang berputar dengan kecepatan tinggi. Penggunaan mesin ini memungkinkan proses penghancuran material menjadi lebih efisien dan efektif, sehingga sangat penting dalam berbagai industri yang membutuhkan pengolahan material padat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan analisis menyeluruh terhadap tingkat kegagalan yang sering terjadi pada mesin impact crusher dan mengembangkan pendekatan perawatan proaktif yang efektif. Metodologi penelitian disusun secara sistematis sehingga setiap tahap memiliki kaitan erat antar tahap lainya. Dengan perancangan metodelogi penelitian yang sistematis diharapkan juga menjadikan penelitian yang akan dilakukan menjadi lebih terarah untuk mencapai tujuan sebagaimana yang diharapkan dalam perumusan tujuan. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan jumlah kegagalan dan jam operasi selama 12 bulan, serta rata-rata tingkat kegagalan dan MTBF. Total kegagalan selama 12 bulan adalah 23, dan total jam operasi selama 12 bulan adalah 8.460 jam. Rata-rata tingkat kegagalan selama 12 bulan adalah 2,7 kegagalan per 1.000 jam, dan rata-rata MTBF selama 12 bulan adalah 368 jam. Data tersebut menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kegagalan mesin impact crusher bervariasi setiap bulannya.

Abstract

The use of automatic sorting systems in industry plays a crucial role in saving time and reducing manual labor through automation. The main challenges are the high error rate and slow manual sorting processes. This research aims to design and develop an automatic sorting conveyor system using Arduino technology and pneumatic actuators to enhance sorting efficiency and accuracy. The proposed solution is a system capable of detecting and sorting objects based on size with very low error rates, thereby increasing productivity and reducing human error. The design and development of this system involve creating a 3D model of components such as the conveyor frame, belt, motor, pneumatic actuators, and sensors, and integrating them into a complete system. Testing was conducted with seven differently sized test objects to evaluate the system's performance in detecting and sorting objects based on size and height. Input and output voltage measurements ensure performance in line with the expected specifications. The research results demonstrate that the developed automatic sorting conveyor system effectively sorts objects with high accuracy. The system can detect and sort objects based on size with a 0% error rate, reducing the time required for the sorting process compared to manual methods. The use of pneumatic actuators and appropriate sensors ensures consistent and reliable system performance. The test results indicate that the system can be integrated into various industrial applications to enhance production efficiency. The developed automatic sorting conveyor system successfully improves the efficiency and accuracy of the sorting process in industry. It shows significant potential for reducing human error and increasing productivity, making it a practical solution for various industrial applications.

Abstract

Morowali is an industrial area engaged in metal production. Steel production is closely related to the cooling process, especially equipment cooling. In the cooling process, water is used as a cooling medium. The water used in the cooling process must be free of minerals, especially those that can damage the cooling tower equipment. Some analytical test parameters include pH, electrical conductivity, and hardness. To obtain cooling water that meets the standards, a treatment process is required. One of the treatment processes used is the ion exchange method using cation resin media, but there is a decrease in the lifetime of cation resin. One alternative material that can be used as an ion exchange medium is zeolite. Therefore, one solution that can be tried is to use a mixture of composition between cation resin and zeolite as an ion exchange medium. The research was conducted using a simple simulator tool by varying the composition of the mixture between zeolite combined with cation resin with the same initial sample and water flow rate. From the test results that have been carried out, the percent value of hardness removal for samples R100:Z100; R75:Z25; R50:Z50; R25:Z75; and R0:Z100 are 85.45%; 50.91%; 40.91%; 14.54%; 5.45%, respectively. The pH values were 7.37; 7.85; 7.80; 7.79; 7.58; 7.43, respectively. And the conductivity values are 612 "μS/cm"; 772 "μS/cm"; 719 "μS/cm"; 768 "μS/cm"; 623 "μS/cm"; 620 "μS/cm" respectively.

Abstract

In the increasingly advanced and dynamic world of the manufacturing industry, the need for a skilled and qualified workforce is becoming increasingly important. One of the key skills required in the industry is the ability to operate a lathe effectively and efficiently. Lathes are used to shape and smooth workpieces by rotating the workpiece against a stationary tool. These machines enable precise and high-quality manufacturing processes, so employees need to master the correct and efficient operation of lathes. However, there is still a problem with employees who are not skilled enough to operate lathes in companies in the Morowali metal industry area. This condition can certainly hamper the productivity and efficiency of the company, and have an impact on the quality of the products produced. So, it is necessary to conduct training and mentoring to improve their knowledge and skills. Training is carried out using several methods, namely surveys through interviews to determine the appropriate type of training. Providing material to improve knowledge using the lecture method. Direct observation to train participants' skills in operating the lathe. Evaluation of training to measure the level of achievement. The evaluation results obtained an average pre-test score of 54.3 and a post-test of 84.6. There was an increase of 30.7 points after the participants participated in the training activities. Thus, the training activities showed success in improving employees' knowledge of lathe operation. In addition, each employee also showed skills in completing the job sheet that had been given. So, the training carried out provides various benefits for employees in developing careers and for companies in increasing their productivity.

Abstract

One of the largest nickel producing areas in the world is Morowali, Indonesia. Stainless nickel is the raw material for battery cathodes and is also used as its precursor. In this study, Morowali laterite ore was extracted through a process known as solid-liquid extraction (leaching). Nitric acid and acetic acid solvents were used for the leaching process. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of concentration and temperature of leaching acid solution on the percent recovery of nickel produced. Leaching was carried out with variations in concentration and temperature. In this study, the method used was acid leaching at atmospheric pressure (APAL). The results of this study indicate that increasing acid concentration and leaching temperature increases the percent recovery of nickel obtained. The best concentration and temperature from the results of this research are 7M concentration and 1100C temperature using nitric acid solvent with a nickel recovery percent obtained of 23.14% and 20.71%

Abstract

Permintaan terhadap bahan baku nikel terus meningkat seiring dengan pertumbuhan industri manufaktur, elektronik, dan baterai. Proses ekstraksi bijih nikel laterit melalui jalur hidrometalurgi, khususnya metode atmospheric leaching (AL), menghasilkan campuran padat-cair yang perlu dipisahkan melalui tahapan filtrasi. Filtrasi yang efisien dibutuhkan untuk memisahkan residu padatan dan filtrat dengan waktu proses yang singkat dan konsumsi energi minimal. Keterbatasan dari alat filtrasi konvensional seperti plate frame filter press mendorong perlunya inovasi dalam perancangan alat filtrasi yang lebih hemat energi dan mudah dioperasikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan membangun alat vertical pressure filter berbasis pompa hidrolik dengan kapasitas 600 mL yang digunakan untuk menyaring hasil ekstraksi bijih nikel laterit. Evaluasi performa alat dilakukan melalui pengujian efisiensi pemisahan padat-cair menggunakan pelarut asam sitrat. Metode yang digunakan mencakup tahap perancangan alat menggunakan perangkat lunak CAD, fabrikasi menggunakan material akrilik, besi holo, dan filter cloth 450 mesh, serta uji coba alat terhadap parameter efisiensi filtrat dan residu. Alat yang telah dibuat memiliki spesifikasi kapasitas 600 ml, pompa dengan motor hidrolik DC 12 V, pelat saringan nylon 450 mesh, gaya dorong 1000 N, dan waktu filtrasi 30 – 180 s. Dengan spesifikasi alat tersebut, hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa nilai efisiensi filtrat sebesar 3,76% dan efisiensi residu sebesar 76%. Ini mengindikasikan alat mampu menahan padatan dengan baik, namun filtrasi cairan belum optimal. Oleh karena itu, alat perlu disempurnakan, antara lain melalui peningkatan tekanan, pemilihan media filter yang lebih sesuai, dan optimasi waktu filtrasi untuk meningkatkan kinerja alat secara menyeluruh.

Abstract

Peningkatan daya saing industri dalam negeri tidak terlepas dari peran strategis sumber daya manusia yang kompeten, terutama dalam sektor industri berat seperti pengolahan logam. PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (PT IMIP) sebagai salah satu kawasan industri terbesar di Indonesia menghadapi tantangan dalam memenuhi kebutuhan tenaga kerja terampil di bidang pengelasan pipa. Metode pengelasan Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) menjadi salah satu teknik pengelasan utama yang membutuhkan keterampilan khusus, terutama untuk pengelasan pipa dengan posisi yang kompleks. Program ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi teknis karyawan PT IMIP melalui pelatihan pengelasan pipa menggunakan metode SMAW berbasis kompetensi, pemberian materi teori dan praktik, evaluasi kompetensi peserta, serta pendampingan berkelanjutan. Metode pelatihan dirancang interaktif dan aplikatif, mencakup posisi pengelasan 1G hingga 6G, serta standar keselamatan kerja industri. Hasil yang diharapkan dari kegiatan ini adalah peningkatan signifikan pada keterampilan teknis peserta, terbentuknya budaya kerja profesional, dan terbukanya peluang sertifikasi profesi bagi karyawan. Program ini tidak hanya memberikan dampak langsung terhadap peningkatan kualitas tenaga kerja industri, tetapi juga menjadi bentuk kontribusi nyata perguruan tinggi dalam mendukung pembangunan sumber daya manusia yang unggul dan relevan dengan kebutuhan dunia kerja.
