Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe efforts to increase students' interest in theater extracurriculars by applying the drill method at SMAN 4 Tebo. This type of research is qualitative research with a participatory approach. The research instrument was the researcher himself and assisted by supporting instruments. The supporting instruments that the researchers used in this study were in the form of documentation from field data recording devices in the form of activity photos and observation notes. Data collection techniques were carried out by means of observation, literature study, interviews and documentation. The steps to analyze the data are collecting data, identifying data, classifying data and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the efforts made by using the concept of musical drama by applying the drill method could increase students' interest in the Theater Arts extracurricular at SMAN 4 Tebo. Another effort is to give appreciation to students. The increase was seen based on indicators of interest, namely feelings of pleasure, student involvement (active), interest, and student attention. The use of the concept of musical drama by applying the drill method in Theater Arts extracurricular activities can make the atmosphere of this activity active and structured. This can be seen through the behavior of students contained in the indicators of student interest which are getting better and increasing so that they are able to increase student interest in the Theater Arts extracurricular.

Abstract

Contemporary instrumental music has developed rapidly in recent decades, creating unique sounds and attracting the attention of many listeners. This article aims to explore the techniques and trends in contemporary instrumental music composition in the modern era. The methods used in this research are data analysis and literature review, which include case studies of several prominent instrumental music composers, as well as a review of the latest techniques in contemporary instrumental music composition. The results of this research show that in contemporary instrumental music composition, composers use various techniques to create more dynamic and complex music. Some commonly used techniques are the use of complex harmonies, unusual musical instruments, and modern technology to create innovative sound effects. Trends in contemporary instrumental music composition also continue to change over time, ranging from the fusion of different music genres to the use of AI technology and real-time music applications for sound design. In conclusion, this article provides an overview of the techniques and trends in contemporary instrumental music composition in the modern era. It is hoped that this will provide insights and inspiration for composers, music enthusiasts, and stakeholders in the music industry to continue to develop and create innovative and interesting music in the future.

Abstract

Education is one sector that plays an important role in building the nation and forming a complete human being. The impact of the pandemic condition makes the learning process at all levels of school to college feel very less enthusiastic. This is because the teaching and learning process which was initially carried out directly / face to face shifted to the learning and teaching process which was carried out through platforms that were integrated into internet-based networks (e-learning). The purpose of this study was to find and design a learning strategy for the Minangkabau Traditional Music Practice Course, FBS UNP Sendratasik Department. From the situation and conditions seen through the GAP analysis, several techniques/procedures must be passed so that the learning objectives can be achieved. The research method was carried out through several stages, including; 1) observation, 2) design of learning devices, 3) implementation of learning, and 4) tests, evaluations and revisions. This research is proven through stages; 1) learn the basic principles of the technology under study, 2) use the formulation of technology concepts; and 3) proof-of-concept of important functions and/or characteristics analytically and experimentally regarding learning strategies for Minangkabau Traditional Music Practice to achieve student competence.

Abstract

activities at Mts Ibadurrahman Lolo. The type of research used is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The research instrument was the researcher himself who played a role in collecting data and information on research objects by conducting field observations, and was equipped with stationery and cellphones to document the research process. In this study, the types of data used are primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out using observation/direct observation, interviews, literature study and documentation. Then the procedure for analyzing the data in this study was carried out with the stages of data reduction, data collection, as well as verification and concluding. From the results of the study, it was found that Randai's extracurricular activities were a means for developing students' talents in the field of performing arts. Randai extracurricular activities at MTs Ibadurrahman Lolo are carried out in several stages, namely; 1) activity planning, 2) activity implementation, and 3) evaluation of Randai extracurricular activities. Character building in Randai extracurricular activities contains several aspects, namely; 1) the value of customs, 2) historical education, 3) cultural education, 4) discipline, 5) cooperation, 6) creative, 7) curiosity, 8) love of the motherland, and 9) moral values.

Abstract

This study aims to find and describe the factors inhibiting the learning process of cultural arts (music) class XI IPA 2 at MAN 3 Padang City. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The instrument of this research is the researcher himself and is assisted by supporting instruments such as stationery and cameras. The data in this study used primary data and secondary data. Data were collected through literature study, observation, interviews and documentation. The steps of analyzing data are data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that learning cultural arts (music) in class XI IPA 2 MAN 3 Padang City still experienced obstacles in the implementation of learning cultural arts (music). These obstacles consist of 2 factors, namely internal factors and external factors. Internal factors in this study include; attention, interest, motivation, and learning readiness. External factors in this study include; learning methods, learning media, and infrastructure that should be prepared by teachers or schools. The efforts that teachers can make to overcome obstacles are to attract students' attention by providing motivation to increase students' confidence and responsibility to take part in music learning. Meanwhile, to overcome the limitations of facilities and infrastructure, teachers find alternatives by instructing students to bring their own musical instruments.

Abstract

Timbre is one of the main elements considered in musical arrangements, including contemporary Minang pop songs which have undergone significant development due to improvements in recording studio quality and increasingly qualified human resources. This study aims to describe the instrumentation and examine the characteristics of timbre in melodic instruments used in contemporary Minang pop song arrangements. Ableton Live 10 and Izotope Insight 2 software were used to analyze the audio spectrum produced by melodic instruments in recent Minang song arrangements. The results of audio processing using spectrum analyzer show that three main timbres of Minang songs are circulating and viral on social media: Acoustic Guitar, Bansi, and Overdrive Guitar. The first two instruments typically fill the melody line in the Intro, Interlude, and Coda, while the third instrument acts as a melody carrier in the transition part of the song. The instrumentation used in Minang song arrangements consists of acoustic instruments, specifically  Yamaha  guitars with Fishman Preamps, VST Instruments Sampletank2, and Real eight guitars. In this study, only two timbres were analyzed using the application: Acoustic Guitar and Bansi. The software analysis reveals that the two melodic timbres have unique characteristics formed by different overtone series formulas, with Acoustic Guitar having approximately 15 overtone pieces and Bansi having 8. Based on the results generated by the audio analysis application Izotope Insight 2, the timbre of guitar and bansi in contemporary Minang pop songs exhibit two unique characteristics. The guitar demonstrates a rich character with a significant number of overtone series at high frequencies. On the other hand, bansi tends to have a smooth and soft character due to its less dominant frequency points at each interval and lower amplitudes. Analisis Timbre pada Aransemen Melodik Lagu Minang Populer Menggunakan Spectrum Analyzer. Timbre merupakan salah satu elemen utama yang menjadi sorotan dalam menciptakan sebuah aransemen musik, begitupun dalam lagu pop Minang kontemporer yang telah mengalami perkembangan signifikan karena adanya peningkatan kualitas studio rekaman dan sumber daya manusia yang semakin berkualitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan instrumen dan mengeksplorasi karakteristik timbre pada instrumen melodi yang digunakan dalam aransemen lagu pop Minang kontemporer. Penelitian ini menggunakan perangkat lunak Ableton Live 10 dan Izotope Insight 2 untuk menganalisis spektrum audio yang dihasilkan oleh instrumen melodi dalam aransemen lagu Minang terbaru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat tiga timbre utama yang menjadi populer dalam lagu-lagu Minang masa kini yaitu: Gitar Akustik, Bansi, dan Gitar Overdrive. Dua instrumen pertama biasanya mengisi garis melodi pada Intro, Interlude, dan Coda, sedangkan instrumen ketiga berfungsi sebagai pembawa melodi pada bagian transisi lagu atau fill in. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam aransemen lagu Minang terdiri dari instrumen akustik berupa gitar dengan merk Yamaha dengan preamp Fishman, VST Instruments Sampletank2, dan gitar Real 8. Dalam penelitian ini, hanya dua timbre yang dianalisis menggunakan perangkat lunak yaitu: Gitar Akustik dan Bansi. Analisis perangkat lunak tersebut mengungkapkan bahwa dua timbre melodi memiliki karakteristik yang unik yang dibentuk oleh formula seri overtone yang berbeda, dengan Gitar Akustik memiliki sekitar 15 bagian overtone Series dan Bansi memiliki 8 Overtone Series. Berdasarkan sinyal audio yang dihasilkan oleh aplikasi, timbre melodi lagu Minang populer ditandai oleh gitar dengan warna  yang kaya dan Bansi dengan warna yang lembut dan halus. Abstract

Traditional music as an integral part of a society's cultural wealth has aesthetic value and plays a role in deepening cultural identity. However, in the era of globalization and modernization, traditional music is often threatened by changes in values and lifestyles that dominate from outside the culture. This article explores the influence of local cultural values on the traditional music education process in the Sendratasik Department. The main challenge is maintaining the existence of traditional music amidst the ever-changing interests of the younger generation. The research is a type of qualitative research with a case study approach. Through in-depth interviews, document analysis, and direct observation, this research aims to understand the extent to which local cultural values influence students' attitudes, interests, and participation in learning traditional music. The research results show that curriculum implementation through face-to-face lectures, online learning, lecturer collaboration, and integration of educational technology are effective strategies for maintaining the existence of traditional music. Analysis of the impact of globalization shows that traditional music needs to adapt to contemporary trends to remain relevant. Traditional music education also plays a role in developing student character, such as creativity, communication skills, empathy, pedagogical skills, discipline, collaboration, understanding of cultural diversity, understanding of technology, self-development, spirit of inclusivity, as well as creation and performance. This research is expected to contribute to the development of learning strategies and curricula that focus on maintaining and developing traditional music as an inseparable part of cultural heritage that is alive and relevant in today's society.

Abstract

Malay Pencak Silat Melayu is a related Malay art known as classical Malay art which is often performed at receptions for grand guests or guests of honour. The development of Malay Pencak Silat performances can be found in the implementation of traditional Malay wedding ceremonies, events, circumcision events and events featuring regional arts, especially in Riau Province. Riuh Birama's musical composition was created using a World Music approach. The artist embodies ideas sourced from Malay Pencak Silat Accompaniment Music by developing melodic patterns using the Cengkok, Grenek, Patah techniques. The composition of Riuh Birama is realized in several stages, namely; 1) observation; 2) determining the concept; 3) material preparation; 4) discussion and commitment; and 5) embodiment. The creator tries to present several forms of novelty in the form of works following the concept being offered.

Abstract

This research aims to understand how best to help students learn about art and culture. This study uses a type of qualitative research with a descriptive analysis approach. The researcher is the main research instrument, equipped with supporting tools such as cellphones and stationery. Observations, interviews, literature, and documentation were all used as data collection methods. Data were analyzed by identifying data, classifying data, clarifying data, analyzing data, describing it, and concluding. The results showed that at Padang 7 Public Middle School the learning process for singing folk songs had not been carried out properly and the learning objectives were not optimally achieved, because the strategies used by the teacher during the learning process were less effective. Teachers tend to only use the lecture method, thus making student learning outcomes less than optimal, this can be seen from student activities during the learning process.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis struktur lagu-lagu Talempong Pacik Lenjo Kapa Malintang di Guguak Gadang Nagari Kubang Kota Sawahlunto.Dengan menganalisis struktur lagu-lagu Lenjo Kapa Malintang maka peneliti menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan metode deskriptif. Observasi, wawancara, jurnal, dokumentasi, dan sumber lain digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data. Observasi bertujuan untuk mengamati fenomena yang dapat diamati di lapangan. Tujuan dari wawancara adalah untuk mengumpulkan informasi dari samsuml bahri sebagai murid lenjo kapa malintang. Dokumentasi dilakukan dengan merekam audio Talempong Pacik Lenjo Kapa Malintang yang kemudian di analisis mengenai struktur nya. Hasil penelitian mengenai analisis struktur lagu-lagu Lenjo Kapa Malintang  memperlihatkan bahwa struktur lagu-lagu Lenjo Kapa Malintang hanya memiliki motif nya saja. Karna lagu-lagu Lenjo Kapa Malintang tidak sama dengan lagu pada umum nya yang memiliki motif,frase,prioda dan bentuk. Dalam tiga buah lagu yang telah di analisis, ketiga lagu tersebut memiliki motif saja.
