Abstract

The use of digital media to spread extremism and radicalism is the driving force behind this research. This research aims to examine how the information literacy model counters radicalism narratives. A counter narrative is a narrative that is deliberately framed with the intention of countering or minimizing the influence of negative narratives that are intolerant and extreme (Wahid Foundation, 2021). This research method uses descriptive qualitative and verification testing to look at the information literacy model in counter narrative efforts carried out by four pesantren. Collective Data  through interviews, FGDs, observations, and literature studies. Informants in this research include pesantren leaders and Santri representatives. The resource persons include the Head of the Garut Ministry of Religion Representative Office, the Head of the Garut National and Political Unity Office (Kesbangpol), the Garut MUI Board, and the Garut NU Fatayat Board. Result of this research showed that pesantren information literacy is effective in countering narratives of radicalism through interpretation to re-frame the meaning of jihad and da'wah that has been used as an argument by radical groups, strengthening national insight, pesantren entrepreneurship, and digital media literacy for santri. In solving the problem of radicalism, it is necessary to look at economic and  religious factors. This is so the government can find the right reformulation to prevent radicalism and extremism. In addition, the role of women as the first school for children must be an important factor

Abstract

Keterampilan menulis esai merupakan kemampuan penting dalam menyampaikan ide, opini, dan gagasan secara sistematis dan menarik. Namun, banyak anggota Fatayat Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Kabupaten Garut yang menghadapi tantangan dalam menulis esai yang efektif, baik dari segi teknis maupun struktur penulisan. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas anggota Fatayat NU dalam menulis esai melalui pelatihan intensif. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pemaparan teori, praktik langsung, dan pendampingan personal dalam penulisan esai. Hasil dari program ini menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman peserta mengenai struktur esai, penggunaan bahasa yang efektif, dan kemampuan menyusun argumen secara logis. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui penilaian esai yang dihasilkan peserta sebelum dan setelah pelatihan. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi, 85% peserta berhasil menghasilkan esai yang memenuhi kriteria baik. Program ini diharapkan dapat mendorong anggota Fatayat NU Kabupaten Garut untuk lebih aktif dalam menulis dan berkontribusi pada literasi di komunitas mereka.

Abstract

Abstract This study comprehensively examines the campaign efforts of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Garut Regency in combating drug abuse through a multi-strategy approach encompassing Soft Power, Hard Power, and Smart Power. This study seeks to understand the effectiveness, challenges, and opportunities of the BNN's campaign strategy This study uses a descriptive qualitative methodology with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews with three informants selected based on purposive sampling, and observations of BNN Garut's campaign activities, particularly social media management and media capacity building workshops conducted by BNN Garut Regency. The results show that the strategy in the campaign through media capacity building has been successful in increasing public awareness. This is because the main challenges in BNN campaigns have been related to broader community outreach, uneven program implementation, and low collaboration across sectors and media. The role of media, both conventional and digital, has proven vital in disseminating educational messages and mobilizing the community. However, the findings of this study also indicate the need for increased active involvement and strategic synergy to make campaign messages more effective and sustainable. An innovative approach that integrates technology, community empowerment, and cross-sector collaboration is key to long-term success in realizing a Shining Indonesia. This study recommends the need for continuous capacity building for media personnel and journalists, the development of interactive digital platforms, and the optimization of collaboration between the government, the community, and the media to expand the reach and deepen the impact of the anti-drug campaign in Garut and the surrounding area. Keywords: Garut national narcotics agency; media personnel; campaign strategy; war on drugs.   Abstrak Penelitian ini mengkaji secara komprehensif upaya kampanye Badan Narkotika Nasional (BNN) Kabupaten Garut dalam memerangi penyalahgunaan narkoba melalui pendekatan multi-strategi yang meliputi Soft Power, Hard Power, dan Smart Power. Penelitian ini berusaha memahami efektivitas, tantangan, dan peluang strategi kampanye BNN tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap tiga informan yang dipilih berdasarkan purposive sampling, dan pengamatan terhadap kegiatan kampanye BNN Garut, khususnya pengelolaan media sosial dan workshop penguatan kapasitas insan media yang dilakukan oleh BNN Kabupaten Garut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi dalam kampanye malalui penguatan kapasitas media menunjukkan keberhasilan dalam meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat. Hal ini dikarenakan selama ini tantangan utama dalam kampanye BNN adalah terkait dengan penjangkauan masyarakat yang lebih luas, ketidakseragaman pelaksanaan program, serta rendahnya kolaborasi lintas sektor dan media. Peran media, baik konvensional maupun digital, terbukti vital dalam menyebarluaskan pesan edukatif dan memobilisasi masyarakat. Namun temuan dari hasil peelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa perlu adanya peningkatan keterlibatan aktif dan sinergi strategis agar pesan kampanye lebih efektif dan berkelanjutan. Pendekatan inovatif yang mengintegrasikan teknologi, pemberdayaan masyarakat, dan kerjasama lintas sektor menjadi kunci keberhasilan jangka panjang dalam mewujudkan Indonesia Bersinar. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan perlunya penguatan kapasitas insan media atau jurnalis yang berkelanjutan, pengembangan platform digital yang interaktif, serta optimalisasi kolaborasi antara pemerintah, masyarakat, dan media untuk memperluas jangkauan dan memperdalam dampak kampanye anti-narkoba di Garut dan sekitarnya. Abstract

Criticism and freedom of speech that builds important information for society can now take a visual form such as mural art. One of the famous mural artists who dares to convey information by using meaning signs and messages such as criticism in his mural artwork is Banksy. One of his famous murals raises the issue of natural destruction. This research uses Charles Sanders Peirce's Semiotics Theory which is famous for its triadic model analysis, namely the representamen, object, and interpretant. And using data collection techniques in the form of observation and interviews. The result of the research shows that the meaning and message contained in Banksy's mural contains information from colors, images, and shapes in detail about how he can convey messages about criticism of the government and people who do not care about environmental sustainability. And also so that people can pay more attention to environmental sustainability so that there is no damage to nature due to human actions themselves.

Abstract

In this increasingly competitive era, many vocational high school graduates find that their jobs don't always align with their chosen majors in school. This can create confusion and hinder career development. The personal branding workshop in the digital era was conducted to fill the knowledge gap about basic personal branding concepts and development strategies on digital platforms, which has become an urgent need for young people in facing increasingly dynamic competition challenges. This workshop uses an interactive lecture method with question-and-answer sessions between presenters and participants. The material covered includes basic concepts of personal branding, self-image development on digital platforms, and ethics in digital platforms. Post-test results show that the workshop provided profound insights and significant benefits for participants. They not only gained theoretical understanding but also practical ways to use digital platforms to enhance their reputation. The workshop successfully encouraged students to think critically about their digital presence, recognize the impact of content on career opportunities, and develop authentic, consistent, and professional personal branding strategies. Overall, participants demonstrated a good understanding of personal branding concepts in the digital era, showing the workshop's effectiveness in achieving its educational objectives.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has transformed media consumption patterns, challenging the existence of conventional media, including local television. This study examines the news program management of “Radar News” at Radar Tasikmalaya TV using Peter K. Pringle’s management functions theory: planing, organizing, directing, and controlling. A qualitative descriptive method with a phenomenological approach was employed, involving in-depth unterviews with internal staff and media experts. The fundings indicate that strong managerial have enabled Radar Tasikmalaya TV to remain a credible and adaptive local media outlet amidst the digital era’s challenges. The planning process is conducted systematically through projection, listing, and budgeting based on editorial SOPs, aligned with social media trends and audience interests. Despite limited human resources, organizing function effectively through clear task distribution and adaptive coordination. Direction is carried out through team synergy, ethical gatekeeping processed and digital platform utilization for content distribution. Control is implemented through regular evaluations and adherence to journalistic standards and broadcasting regulations. These comprehensive management practice contribute significantly to the sustainability and relevance of Radar Tasikmalaya TV in the local media landscape. Abstrak Perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi telah mengubah pola konsumsi media, menantang eksistensi media konvensional termasuk televisi lokal. Penelitian ini mengkaji manajemen program berita “Radar News” di Radar Tasikmalaya TV dengan menggunakan teori fungsi manajemen dari Peter K. Pringle: Perencanaan, Pengorganisasian, Pengarahan, dan Pengawasan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi, melalui wawancara mendalam dengan pihak internal dan pakar media. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi manajerial yang kuat memungkinkan Radar Tasikmalaya TV tetap eksis sebagai media lokal yang kredibel dan adaptif di tengah tantangan era digital. Hal ini terlihat dari proses manajemen yang meliputi perencanaan, pengorganisasian, pengarahan, dan pengawasan yang ada pada media Radar Tasik TV. Perencanaan di Radar Tasik TV dilakukan secara sistematis melalui proyeksi, listing, dan budgeting berdasarkan SOP redaksi, disesuaikan dengan tren media sosial dan minat audiens. Pengorganisasian berjalan optimal meskipun dengan SDM terbatas, melalui pembagian tugas yang jelas dan koordinasi adaptif. Pengarahan dilakukan melalui sinergi tim, proses gatekeeping yang etis, serta pemanfaatan platform digital untuk distribusi konten. Pengawasan dilakukan melalui evaluasi rutin dan kepatuhan terhadap standar jurnalistik serta regulasi penyiaran.

Abstract

TikTok has grown into a dominant digital platform that plays a significant role in shaping social interactions, sharing virtual experiences, and distributing information quickly and widely. This study aims to evaluate the extent of the influence of the TikTok account @yoggi.130 on increasing tourist interest and visits to tourist destinations in Garut Regency. This study refers to the AIDA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action) theory proposed by Kotler and Keller, which highlights the importance of persuasive communication strategies in influencing consumer decisions. Using a quantitative approach, data was collected through a survey of one hundred respondents who are active followers of the account. Data processing out using a simple linear regression model with the help of SPSS software version 22. The findings of this study revealed a significant positive correlation between the content published by the TikTok account @yoggi.130 and the level of followers' interest in conducting tourist visits, while the rest was influenced by other variables. These results confirm that the video content presented by @yoggi.130, which is informative, attractive, and consistently produced, is able to build a unique appeal that impacts followers' decisions to visit tourist destinations in Garut Regency.

Abstract

Purpose: This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to strengthen the capacity of Pesantren Nurul Huda, Cisurupan District, Garut Regency, in preventing and handling sexual violence through the development of a community-based digital reporting system. The program responds to the core problems of partners, including limited understanding of sexual violence, absence of a safe reporting mechanism, and cultural taboos surrounding open discussions of sexual issues within the pesantren environment. Methodology: This program was carried out using an action research approach through five main stages: planning, socialization and training, technology implementation, mentoring and evaluation, and sustainability planning. A participatory communication method was applied by involving pesantren administrators, students, community leaders, and external institutions in the design and implementation of the Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Information System (SIPEKA). Results: This program successfully enhanced participants’ knowledge, skills, and awareness of sexual violence prevention. SIPEKA has proven to be an effective, fast, secure, and user-friendly digital reporting system. Conclusions: This program effectively addressed partner issues through technological innovation and participatory communication, encouraging the transformation of pesantren into child-friendly and violence-free educational institutions. Limitations: Program implementation was limited by unequal internet access and cultural resistance, which continues to perceive sexual violence as a taboo. Contribution: This PKM Program offers a replicable model for child-protection-based pesantren that integrates religious values, digital literacy, and information technology as tools for social and institutional empowerment.
