Abstract

The development of technology has enriched the educational practices in many settings including in Indonesia. The use of technology has contributed a lot to many teaching and learning activities both inside and outside the classrooms in Indonesian contexts, especially in foreign language education like English. This is likely to be a good sign to welcome English language education 4.0. However, the success of English language education 4.0 also depends also on students’ readiness to be more independent or autonomous in their English learning. Our qualitative study has revealed that students in English education department still have difficulties in maintaining their autonomy level in learning. The learner autonomy is dynamic in the way that its level keeps changing. This may turn into a particular challenge for the enactment of English language education 4.0 if the students are not equipped with the skills to maintain their autonomy level in their English learning.

Abstract

Folklore has important role as the part of society and education. Folklore as local wisdom can be used for teaching current issues of society, such as gender issues. The objective of the study aims to analyze the Pekalongan Folklore DewiLanjar as the local wisdom from feminist perspective. This study uses descriptive qualitative method and feminism theory. The findings of this study are Dewilanjar folklore has bias gender in presenting her character, action and role. It is caused by the domination of patriarchy systems. The teacher should give the understanding to the students of the gender bias so that students can understand and tolerance to gender issues.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to explain the role and strategy of the teachers in teaching and learning of folklore in industrial revolution 4.0 era. Folklore as the part of local wisdom needs to be conserved and promoted. Millennial generation is the key of the success in conserving and promoting local folklore. Indonesia has potential students as millennial generation must be taken advantage in education. This research helps the teachers and educators to teach and learn the local folklore in industrial revolution 4.0 era through millennial generation. This study tries to maximize the Student Centered Learning approach in developing the use of e-learning and social media.

Abstract

Abstract

Pelecehan seks terhadap anak merupakan salah satu ancaman bagi bangsa yang dapat merusak anak-anak, baik secara fisik, pola pikir, mental, maupun kejiwaan mereka. Pelecehan seks terhadap anak tidak hanya dianggap sebagai tindak kriminal, melainkan pula sudah sepatutnya digolongkan sebagai tindakan perusakan moral. Oleh sebab itu, penanggulangannya harus dilakukan secara menyeluruh dan melibatkan semua komponen bangsa. Penelitian ini berusaha mengungkap strategi di dalam mengoptimalkan peran pendidikan seks usia dini di PAUD dalam menanggulangi pelecehan seks terhadap anak. Melalui pendidikan seks usia dini, kerja sama lintas sektoral yang dilakukan BPMP2KB Kota Pekalongan—melalui LPPAR dan PNFI—dengan penyelenggara PAUD menjadi syarat yang harus dipenuhi. Penelitian ini berupaya mengungkap langkah yang dilakukan oleh pihak-pihak terkait dalam menyelenggarakan pendidikan seks usia dini. Tujuannya, agar didapat langkah-langkah strategis yang dapat dilakukan oleh masing-masing lembaga sebagai masukan. Penelitian ini melibatkan LPPAR, PNFI, dan 10 lembaga penyelenggara PAUD di Kecamatan Pekalongan Utara sebagai responden. LPPAR dan PNFI merupakan lembaga yang bertanggung jawab menangani masalah kekerasan seks terhadap anak dan penyelenggaraan pendidikan non formal dan informal. Sementara, kecamatan Pekalongan Utara merupakan kawasan yang paling rawan terhadap kasus pelecehan seks terhadap anak di Pekalongan. Dari hasil kuesioner dan wawancara, didapat bahwa upaya yang dilakukan oleh semua pihak di dalam menyelenggarakan pendidikan seks usia dini di PAUD masih menemui beberapa kendala. Kendala utamanya adalah lemahnya koordinasi lintas lembaga, sehingga upaya-upaya yang dilakukan tidak terencana dengan baik. Selain itu, belum terlaksananya revitalisasi kurikulum dan penyediaan perangkat pembelajaran juga me njadi kendala. Oleh sebab itu, kerja sama antarlembaga perlu ditingkatkan. Abstract

FTV (an acronym for Film Television) is part of Indonesian television pop culture. Most Indonesian consumes FTV as daily entertainment. As the pop culture, it has various discourses which is interesting to be discussed. FTV can placed alternatively as modern folktale. It has similiarity from their structure. This article studies the urban culture and superstition which are reflected on FTV. This study uses the approach of naratologi structure by A.J.Greimas to analyze the structure of the story. Descriptive qualitative becomes the method of this study. It reveals thatFTV has similiarity to folk tale. It has the similiar values inside the story.

Abstract

Abstract.  This article presents the findings of a qualitative study conducted in English Department of Pekalongan University in 2018. The study aimed at revealing students’ and teachers’ perceptions about the importance and the meanings of independent learning particularly in their language learning. However this article only reports the interview results with fourteen students. The findings signal the students’ positive perceptions about independent learning. All students considered independent learning as important to improve their mastery of English. They also presented various reasons on the importance of doing independent learning. Interestingly, while all students reported the importance of doing independent learning, they described independent learning with a range of meanings. This suggests that independent learning means different thing for different students. Among the meanings they give to independent learning covers: 1) individual effort to improve the language competence, 2) individuals’ learning habits, 3) independent learning activities, 4) self-evaluation activity, and 5) self-reflection activity. Key words: qualitative study, independent learning, perceptions

Abstract

The community service entitled “Waking Up The Literacy From Riverside: The Training Of Literacy In “Book Island” Book Center Community”. This activity aims to improve the interest of community in Kebagusan village, Ampelgading, Pemalang in gaining and educating people suround. It also gives the training of literacy training that include educating, teaching and learning of literacy and critical literacy which help the “Book Island” Book center community to manage their organization properly. This community service gives many advantages to their community. It can be the center of literacy in the community.

Abstract

This  study  entitled  "Motivation  of  Social  Mobility  in  the  novel  The  Great  Gatsby  by.  F.  Scott Fitzgerald".  The  author  is  interested  in  researching  the  novel  because  there  is  social  mobilit  y  reflected  through  the  character,  Jay  Gatsby.  The  purpose  of  this  study  is  to  reveal  forms  of  social mobility and motivation of character; To achieve the goals, the authors used a combined approach of structural  and  sociological  approach  to  literature.  The  structural  approach  used  to  assess  the intrinsic aspects of the novel, character and background, while the sociological approach to literature using  the  theory  of  social  mobility  to  assess  the  social  mobility  of  the  character‟  motivation  to improve and maintain his social class. In this novel, there is found kind of social mobility that done Jay  Gatsby. It is vertical social  mobility.  Vertical social  mobility  is  divided into  two  forms,  upward and downward. Vertical social mobility, up from the characters increase the level of the economy and increase social class through work and marriage. There are some motivation behind social mobility such as increasing and maintaining social class. Social mobility that occurs in the novel The Great Gatsby become an author's ideas reflect author‟s the social conditions. Through his ideas, the author intends to criticize how the importance of social class and social conditions of 1920s America while experiencing economic growth that brings influence to the people in hedonism and consumerism. So they do their social mobility in order to increase their economy level by the end justify the means.Keywords: novel, structural approach, sociology of literature, social mobility
