Abstract

Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Faculty of Letters, Indonesian Muslim University. (Supervised by Nurmiah Muin and Andi Puspitasari. This research aims to improve student learning outcomes. Using the Synectic Model in learning can improve students' writing abilities as expected for Class XI IPA 5 SMA 2 Barru students. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK). Classroom action research aims to improve the quality or solve problems in the subjects studied by observing the level of success or consequences of their actions, to then receive additional actions which are improvements to actions or adjustments to conditions and situations in order to achieve better results. The average student score was 64 and 4 people reached the KKM or 12%. In cycle I the average score of students was 75,73 and 11 people reached the KKM or 32%. The average score of students in the second cycle increased by 83,14 and reached KKM was 31 students or 92%. Based on the results of the research and discussion above, it can be concluded that Opinion Writing Skills Using the Synectic Model can improve the learning outcomes of opinion writing for XI IPA 5 students at SMA Negeri 2 Barru. From research data conducted during the pre-cycle stage to cycle 2, we noticed different results. Where each cycle pays attention to student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research aimed to discover the reflection of schizophrenia syndrome in Joanne Greenberg’s I Never Promised You a Rose Garden and the reasons why Joanne Greenberg wrote the novel. The research used a descriptive method. The data were divided into two categories: primary data and secondary data. The primary data consisted of the main information taken from the novel I Never Promised You a Rose Garden. The secondary data included the biography of the author and related literature, such as books and online sources, to support the analysis. The data were collected by reading the novel several times, analyzing its dialogue and themes, noting dialogues related to schizophrenia syndrome, and studying the historical background of the author, Joanne Greenberg. In analyzing the data, the researcher applied a genetic structuralism approach, focusing on both the intrinsic and extrinsic elements of the novel. The results of this analysis showed that Deborah Blau, the main character, suffered from schizophrenia syndrome due to her environment. She experienced hallucinations and delusions, which indicated paranoid schizophrenia. She received treatment through psychotherapy administered by her doctor in a mental hospital. Joanne Greenberg wrote the novel to depict the reality of life for people with mental illness. Additionally, the novel was inspired by her personal experiences, which she transformed into the story.

Abstract

Kudapan Keripik Jamur tangkos merupakan salah satu makanan ringan yang memilki manfaat bagi kesehatan, dimana kejamkos ini mengandung vitamin B, C, dan D. Kejamkos ini adalah olahan makanan ringan yang berbahan dasar jamur yang berasal dari janjangan kosong buah kelapa sawit (TKKS) yang sudah membusuk. Dimana bahan baku pembuatan KEJAMKOS ini sedikit sulit ditemukan karena pertumbuhannya tergantung musim dan kelembaban tempat janjangan diletakan.  Jamur yang siap dipanen adalah jamur yang baru mau pecah yang ukurannya bisa sampai sebesar kepalan tangan orang dewasa. Jamur ini merupakan kelompok jamur mikroskopis yang memiliki nama ilmiah monilia sp. Jamur jenis ini akan terus tumbuh hingga sisa minyak dan protein dalam TKKS habis. Jamur ini tidak dipasarkan di pasar tradisional atau modern karena jamur ini tidak termasuk jamur yang tidak berkembang biak, jamur ini tumbuh subur sehingga mungkin sangat sulit ditemukan oleh masyarakat yang tinggal jauh dari perkebunan kelapa sawit. Maka ini merupakan kesempatan yang baik bagi para pemuda yang tinggal di sekitar perkebunan kelapa sawit untuk memanfaatkan jamur ini untuk diolah menjadi produk yang layak secara ekonomi dan bermanfaat.

Abstract

Acne vulgaris is one of the skin problems often experienced by teenagers and young adults, including students, and can be triggered by various factors, one of which is stress. This study aims to determine the effect of stress levels on the occurrence of acne vulgaris among students at the State Islamic University North Sumatera Utara. The research uses a quantitative approach with a case-control design. Data were collected from 91 respondents through the DASS-42 questionnaire and direct observation of skin conditions. The results show that the majority of respondents were female (67.0%) and male (33.0%). As many as 92.3% of respondents experienced stress, and of that number, 64.8% experienced acne vulgaris. The Chi-Square test shows a significant relationship between stress levels and the occurrence of acne vulgaris (p = 0.037), with an odds ratio of 5.900. This means that students who experience stress have a 5.9 times greater risk of developing acne vulgaris compared to those who do not experience stress. The conclusion of this study is that stress has a significant impact on the occurrence of acne vulgaris, making stress management important in preventing this skin disorder among students.

Abstract

This study explored the dual role of code-switching in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms, examining whether it functioned more as a tool to support comprehension or as a hindrance to fluency development. Employing a qualitative descriptive design, the research involved three English teachers and ten intermediate-level students in a bilingual educational context. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis, and were analysed thematically. Findings revealed that when used strategically and sparingly, code-switching served as an effective pedagogical scaffold, enhancing comprehension, reducing learners’ anxiety, and fostering confidence—particularly among lower-proficiency students. Teachers reported that occasional use of the students’ first language (L1) maintained lesson flow and facilitated understanding of complex material. However, excessive reliance on code-switching was found to limit students’ opportunities to practice English, foster dependency on L1, and impede the development of fluency and communicative competence. These findings underscored the need for a balanced and principled approach to code-switching, where teachers used L1 judiciously to support learning while progressively increasing English use to promote fluency. The study contributed to the ongoing debate on the pedagogical value of code-switching, highlighting its potential as a flexible instructional strategy when applied thoughtfully within learners’ sociocultural and linguistic contexts.

Abstract

Indonesia, sebagai negara yang terletak di jalur tektonik aktif, menghadapi risiko bencana alam yang tinggi, termasuk erupsi gunung berapi, tanah longsor, banjir, dan gempa bumi. Kabupaten Lumajang, Jawa Timur, merupakan salah satu daerah yang sangat rentan terhadap bencana alam, terutama karena keberadaan Gunung Semeru yang aktif. Untuk mengurangi dampak bencana, Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD) Kabupaten Lumajang meluncurkan program Sekolah Sadar Lingkungan (SEDARLING), yang bertujuan untuk membangun kesadaran mitigasi bencana di kalangan siswa sejak usia dini. Program ini mengintegrasikan pendidikan mitigasi bencana dengan kepedulian terhadap lingkungan, seperti evakuasi mandiri, pengelolaan sampah, dan penanaman pohon. Meskipun program ini berpotensi besar untuk meningkatkan kesiapsiagaan bencana, implementasinya masih menghadapi tantangan, seperti keterbatasan pelatihan untuk guru, fasilitas simulasi bencana yang belum memadai, dan rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pelaksanaan program SEDARLING sebagai strategi mitigasi bencana di Kabupaten Lumajang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keberhasilan program ini sangat bergantung pada kolaborasi antara BPBD, sekolah, dan masyarakat, serta peningkatan kualitas pelatihan guru dan fasilitas simulasi bencana. Diharapkan, melalui program ini, anak-anak dapat menjadi agen perubahan yang menyebarkan pengetahuan mitigasi bencana di lingkungan mereka.

Abstract

Pendahuluan : Kehilangan gigi terbukti berdampak negatif terhadap kualitas hidup dan mengganggu aktivitas kerja individu, khususnya lansia. Penggunaan gigi tiruan merupakan salah satu cara yang paling tepat dalam mengatasi kehilangan gigi dan berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan kualitas hidup penggunanya. Tujuan Penelitian : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kualitas hidup lansia pengguna dan bukan pengguna gigi tiruan di Desa Gondanglegi, Kabupaten Malang. Bahan dan Metode : Penelitian ini masuk dalam kategori penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif yang menerapkan desain observasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Gondanglegi, Kabupaten Malang pada lansia dengan jumlah subjek 50 responden. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pengisian kuesioner indeks GOHAI secara langsung. Hasil : Terdapat 41 responden yang tidak menggunakan gigi tiruan dengan rata-rata indeks GOHAI 1,82 dengan kategori cukup, namun dari dimensi nyeri dan ketidaknyamanan dalam kategori kurang. 9 responden yang menggunakan gigi tiruan dengan rata-rata indeks GOHAI 2,31 dengan kategori cukup dan pada dimensi aspek psikososial masuk dalam kategori baik. Hasil uji Independent t-Test untuk menguji perbedaan kualitas hidup lansia pengguna dan bukan pengguna gigi tiruan diperoleh nilai p = 0, 000 (a<0,05). Kesimpulan : Didapatkan perbedaan yang signifikan antara kualitas hidup pada lansia pengguna dan bukan pengguna gigi tiruan.

Abstract

Kelapa sawit merupakan salah satu komoditas utama Indonesia yang memberikan kontribusi besar terhadap ekonomi nasional. Namun, di balik potensi ekonominya, industri ini menghadapi tantangan lingkungan dan sosial yang signifikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dampak kelapa sawit terhadap lingkungan dan masyarakat, serta mengeksplorasi solusi untuk pengelolaan yang lebih berkelanjutan. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi literatur, dengan mengumpulkan data dari berbagai sumber sekunder, termasuk jurnal ilmiah, laporan pemerintah, dan dokumen organisasi non-pemerintah. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa ekspansi kelapa sawit telah menyebabkan deforestasi, degradasi lahan, serta konflik sosial, terutama terkait kepemilikan lahan dan hak-hak masyarakat adat. Solusi yang diusulkan dalam literatur meliputi penerapan sertifikasi keberlanjutan, seperti RSPO dan ISPO, serta penggunaan teknologi modern untuk meningkatkan produktivitas tanpa merusak lingkungan. Diperlukan kolaborasi antara pemerintah, industri, dan masyarakat untuk memastikan kelapa sawit dapat dikelola secara berkelanjutan dan berkontribusi pada pembangunan yang inklusif

Abstract

The aim of this research was to describe the effect of the flipped classroom on increasing students’ ability in grammar. This research belonged to quasi-experimental research with a group pre-post-test design involving 50 bachelor degree students from the Islamic Economic Department at UIN Datokarama Palu as the sample. The sampling technique was total sampling with the experimental group (25 students) and control group (25 students). To assess the students’ ability in grammar, four components were measured: accuracy in tense usage, consistency, understanding of tense form, and contextual appropriateness. The students’ scores were classified into five categories: very good, good, medium, low, and failed. After treatment, the grammar ability scores increased for the experimental group. The percentage increased in all aspects: accuracy in tense usage increased by 45%, consistency by 40.6%, understanding of tense form by 31%, and contextual appropriateness by 32.8% from the pre-test scores. The Flipped Classroom model revolutionized the teaching of English grammar, offering practical strategies for implementation, and emphasizing the need for collaborative and independent learning experiences to enhance students' language proficiency and overall learning outcomes.

Abstract

Collaborative Learning replacing the passive learning paradigm with a proactive and interactive model. It is has been implemented in the learning process by educators, starting from beginner level to the university level. This research intended to explore the students’ perception toward collaborative learning’ contribution to their active participation in the learning process. A mixed method approach was employed in this research with the explanatory sequential mixed methods design. The quantitative data were gathered from the questionnaire that was distributed to 74 students of English Tadris Study Program at UIN Datokarama Palu, while the qualitative data were gathered from the interview. The findings revealed that the students give a positive reaction to the contribution of CL implementation in promoting their active engagement in the learning process. The students’ active participation in the learning process was demonstrated in three points. First, collaborative learning enhanced the students’ interaction with their peers in the learning process. Second, collaborative learning encouraged the students’ engagement. Finally, collaborative activities promoted students to generate ideas.
