Abstract

Translation and Interpretation is one of the subject taught in English Education Department of IKIP Saraswati. Students were taught to be able to do both translating and interpreting. They were practicing them on the sixth semester. Observation was conducted during the practice of consecutive interpreting. It is an activity which involves the interpreter converting the words of the first language into the other, directly after the first language is spoken. This paper discuses the strength and the weaknesses of consecutive interpreting conducted by the students of English Education Department.

Abstract

Some words are innately understood but cannot be expressed in simpler terms. They represent words or phrases that are used through practice but cannot be defined correctly. Those words cannot even be explained by other terms. This is called semantic primitive. The use of the word ‘more’ still has many meaning. Hence, this paper discusses about the semantic primitive on augmentor ‘more’.

Abstract

Fenomena menunjukkan masih rendahnya tingkat keberhasilan membaca masyarakat Bali. Hal ini dapat dilihat dalam perbandingan jumlah penduduk Bali mencapai 2,5 juta orang, sementara tingkat kunjungan ke Perpustakaan Bali per harinya baru mencapai 400 sampai 500 orang. Ini berarti tradisi membaca belum memasyarakat. Untuk menyikapi hal tersebut, mari kita mengajak masyarakat ”budayakan membaca” sehingga kegiatan membaca menjadi kegiatan rutin dan menyenangkan. Solusinya adalah konsep/informasi ini dikembangkan dalam kegiatan nyata, diadakan koordinasi pada lembaga/instansi terkait dan pengembangan perpustakaan atau pengadaan bahan bacaan yang sesuai dengan tingkat intelektual anak.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar Basic English Grammar mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan bahasa Inggris IKIP Saraswati dengan penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan di IKIP Saraswati, subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris dengan jumlah 17 mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa mahasiswa memperoleh rata-rata 53 dalam pretest, kemudian mengalami peningkatan pada test kedua yang dilakukan dalam siklus satu yaitu 70.8, dan pada siklus kedua, rata-rata nilai mahasiswa adalah 78. Ketuntasan klasikal pada skor dasar 23.5% (4 mahasiswa). Pada test siklus I, terjadi peningkatan ketuntasan menjadi 64.7% (11 mahasiswa). Pada test siklus II, ketuntasan klasikal meningkat menjadi 88% (15 mahasiswa). Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar Basic English Grammar mahasiswa.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the syntactic scope of information boards found in self-cleaning (Malukat) temples in Gianyar, Bali. In addition, this study also examines the translation strategies of bilingual information boards (Indonesian and English). The method used in this research is a qualitative approach in order to describe the syntactic scope and translation strategies on the data in found in Tirta Empul Temple. The data analysis applies the theory of landscape linguistics proposed by Yendra and Artawa (2020) and is supported by several micro linguistics theories, as follows: 1) syntactic scope theory by Noortyani (2017), 2) translation strategy theory by Molina and Albir (2002), and 3) translation equivalence theory by Nida (2000). The results of this study show that the information boards in the temples have various syntactic scopes, namely in the form of phrases and sentences. However, it is dominantly found in the form of sentences. It is because the information conveyed on the boards is more detail and clearly presented so that they are easily understood by visitors. Meanwhile, the translation strategy of the public space signboard uses calque, literal, established equivalent, and reduction strategies. The literal translation strategy dominantly used on the public signs at the temples because it is easier to understand since it is translated word per word.

Abstract

Background: Blimbingsari Village has a unique spatial layout that is orderly and free from waste, but the community has not been able to take advantage of this uniqueness as a tourist attraction. In addition to the uniqueness possessed by the village, there is potential that has not been fully developed by the community. These potentials include the cultivation of honey, snacks, nuts for the reason that (1) some people do not have entrepreneurial knowledge, and (2) village governments also lack understanding of tourism science. This goal is to optimize village management and increase entrepreneurial motivation through service programs. Method: This service will be carried out in Blimbingsari Village, Jembrana Regency, Bali in April 2023. This service invited 15 village officials and 15 people who owned and did not have businesses. This activity uses data collection methods with interviews, observations, and documentation. Results: (1) Blimbingsari Village Apparatus increased knowledge about tourism villages through tourism resource persons, (2) village communities received entrepreneurial motivation after discussing with entrepreneur resource persons. The novelty is to provide new insights and information about the 3A Concept, namely attractions, amenities, and accessibility as a solution to optimize village management. Conclusion: The realization of an optimal tourism village needs to have an attraction that begins with fostering village apparatus to create identity and create business opportunities by motivating the community.

Abstract

Pemerintah Kabupaten Jembrana sedang membangkitkan desa wisata. Salah satu destinasi wisata Kabupaten Jembrana adalah Desa Blimbingsari. Namun, wisatawan cepat jemu karena kurangnya hiburan setelah berwisata rohani. Wisatawan yang berkunjung hanya bertahan tiga sampai empat hari. Hal ini perlu adanya pemberdayaan Desa Blimbingsari untuk meningkatkan daya tarik desa wisata yang berada di Desa Blimbingsari. Permasalahan umum yang dihadapi oleh Desa Blimbingsari adalah menurunnya jumlah wisatawan karena masyarakat kurang menunjukkan potensi desa. Permasalahan khususnya adalah 1) kurangnya kualitas aparatur desa, 2) kurangnya minat wirausaha anak muda, 3) kurangnya pengetahuan tentang pengemasan produk UMKM, dan 4) kurangnya pengetahuan pelaku usaha terhadap digitalisasi marketing produk Desa Wisata Blimbingsari. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, maka pengabdian ini melaksanakan tiga tahap pelaksanaan PKM, yaitu 1) pelatihan pengelolaan desa wisata bagi aparatur Desa Blimbingsari serta memberikan motivasi dan mindset kewirausahaan bagi masyarakat Desa Blimbingsari, 2) pelatihan pengemasan produk UMKM khas Desa Blimbingsari, dan 3) pelatihan tentang digital marketing produk UMKM khas Desa Blimbingsari.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate augmented reality of phoneme. This study followed an observation-discussion process in which the researcher provided applications and checklists to the participants. Participants were asked to operate the application and fill out a checklist where the researcher discussed the use of the application. The research results show that participants are satisfied with the UI display and want minor improvements so that the display is better and equipped with more complete information. while for UX, participants agreed that the application was easy to use and helped the learning process. From the trial, the researcher summarized several things that needed to be corrected and errors that had not been detected before, such as speech errors. The author presents follow-up results from the last part of AR application development. The results of this trial are the final stage which answers whether this application is feasible to be launched.
