Abstract

The study discusses about translation techniques used in news articles and analyzes the techniques to be used in translating the article entitled "COP27: 'Climate Chaos' Warning as UN Summit Begins". The article used in this study is an explanation text which explains the news about the current international social discussion, namely about COP27 that tells about Climate Chaos. The article is selected based on the background experienced by the author in conducting research, there are translation problems such as the presence of foreign terms that are less understandable to the general public, so the translator tries to translate the news article accurately, and of course it is readable and accepted by the general public. The method used in this research is found to be translation by using semantic and borrowing translation from Bsu to Bsa. The purpose of this research is to analyze and identify the translation problems from Bsu text to Bsa text. The methods used in this research are qualitative and descriptive methods. Penelitian ini membahas tentang teknik penerjemahan yang dipakai pada artikel berita dan menganalisis teknik yang akan digunakan dalam menerjemahkan artikel yang berjudul “COP27: 'Climate Chaos' Warning as UN Summit Begins”. Artikel yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah jenis teks eksplanasi dimana menjelaskan berita mengenai sosial international yang sedang diperbincangkan saat ini yaitu mengenai COP27 yang membahas tentang Climate Chaos. Pemilihan teks berita yaitu berdasarkan latar belakang yang dialami penulis dalam melakukan penelitian, pada teks berita ini terdapat masalah terjemahan seperti adanya istilah asing yang kurang dapat dipahami oleh masyarakat umum, sehingga penerjemah mencoba untuk menerjemahkan artikel berita tersebut dengan akurat, dan tentunya terbaca dan diterima oleh masyarakat umum. Adapun teknik yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ditemukan terjemahan dengan menggunakan teknik semantis juga penerjemahan secara borrowing dari Bsu ke Bsa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis dan mengidentifikasi masalah terjemahan dari teks Bsu ke teks Bsa. Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dan deskriptif.

Abstract

One intriguing aspect in linguistic studies is linguistic landscape, which encompasses the use of language in public spaces. This research aims to delineate the syntactic characteristics of information boards within self-cleaning temples (Malukat) situated in Gianyar, Bali. Furthermore, it investigates the function of the bilingual information boards' (Indonesian and English). The study employs a qualitative method to elucidate the syntactic scopes and semantic functions found in the informational boards. The analysis draws from landscape linguistics theory by Yendra and Artawa (2020) and incorporates micro-linguistics theories, including Noortyani's (2017) syntactic scope theory, Landry and Bourhis (1997) linguistic landscape theory, and Nida's (2000) translation equivalence theory. Findings reveal that temple information boards exhibit diverse syntactic scopes, predominantly in the form of sentences, as they convey detailed and comprehensible information to visitors. The semiotic function employed in public space signboards predominantly features informational and symbolic functions, contributing to the overall linguistic landscape of the temple environment. The research concludes the fact that the dynamic relationship between language, culture, and public spaces, emphasizing the need for a nuanced approach to linguistic analysis in diverse environments.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis semantik dan klausa dalam artikel "Trust In Social Media: Enhancing Social Relationships." Penerjemahan memiliki peran penting dalam komunikasi, tidak hanya dalam perubahan kata, tetapi juga dalam menghubungkan budaya dan bahasa. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi strategi dan teknik penerjemahan yang tepat untuk mencapai hasil yang akurat dan efektif. Dalam analisis klausa, artikel ini menemukan berbagai jenis klausa, termasuk klausa bebas dan terikat, dengan fungsi subjek dan predikat yang jelas. Selain itu, analisis semantik menunjukkan adanya makna denotatif dan konotatif dalam teks, yang mencakup aspek-aspek seperti keterlibatan media sosial dan dampaknya pada hubungan sosial. Klausa dalam artikel ini memberikan informasi yang utuh dan dapat berdiri sendiri sebagai kalimat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media sosial memiliki dampak yang bervariasi pada hubungan sosial, tergantung pada konteks penggunaan dan faktor-faktor seperti dukungan sosial, harga diri, dan perbandingan sosial. Saran untuk penelitian selanjutnya adalah eksplorasi lebih lanjut mengenai interaksi penggunaan media sosial dan dampaknya, serta pengembangan strategi efektif untuk memanfaatkan media sosial dalam memperkuat hubungan interpersonal.

Abstract

Translation is the process of switching the source text (Tsu) to the target text (TSa) commensurately so that it can be understood by the reader. This study aims to convey the information contained in the source text (TSu) or in this study used exposition texts and explain methods and techniques of translation to Indonesian. An exposition text is a text that outlines information. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative research method. The object used in this study is an article entitled Depression. The results show that the article entitled Depression has a written language style. Some of the translation methods used in the article include faithful and communicative methods. In addition, several translation techniques are also used, including transposition, amplification, natural borrowing, pure borrowing, literal, reduction, description, and kalke techniques. Through the translation methods and techniques used in the translation, a reading text that is easier to understand is produced, does not change the style of the original language, even though the translation results are not perfect.
