Abstract

UD. Primadona is a company that sells typical Jember snacks. At the moment, the condition of the facility layout of UD. Primadona faced many problems. One of them is a distinctive design that there is a long flow of material transfer. Transferring materials from the cutting department to the packaging department must go through the production department passed (backtrack). This flow can lead to a big total displacement moment, allowing an increase in material handling costs and indirectly increasing production costs. So, it is necessary to make or change the layout to be more effective and efficient. This study aimed to design using two methods, the CRAFT method and the Graph method. The results showed that alternative graphic method 2 was the best solution based on Material Handling Cost (OMH). This method has less displacement moment per day, and total OMH than the existing design, 89 meters per day and Rp. 7,039.90 respectively.

Abstract

KFC is one of the fast food restaurants in the Jember Regency which is never deserted of visitors, especially that on Gajah Mada Street. The purposes of this study were to determine the characteristics of the queuing system, analyze the queuing applied at KFC, formulate recommendations for improving the queuing system to reduce queuing, and minimize costs. The Data analysis was performed to compare manual calculations and simulation methods using ARENA 14.0. The characteristics of the current queue at KFC are random and unlimited arrival patterns, FIFO (first in first out) queue discipline, and the design of the single phase multi channel queuing system. The queuing distribution used for arrival and service time was the exponential distribution. The queuing model notation at the M/M/2 cashier: FIFO/∞/∞. The recommended queuing model that can be applied was to add 1 cashier to 3 cashiers at a cost of Rp 150,560 from the scenario made. The performance variable in the scenario becomes less than the initial condition, which was ρ cashier becomes 188%, total Wq about 0.92 minutes, and Lq about 2 people. Adding these facilities changes the queuing model notation to (M/M/3: FIFO/∞/∞). Keywords: ARENA, FIFO queuing discipline KFC Jember, queuing system

Abstract

Fermentation is one of the processes in tobacco processing which will be used as raw material for cigars. One of the main aspects that must be considered to achieve successful fermentation is the temperature and humidity of the fermentation room, namely 60-80% RH and 27-32 °C. KOPA Tarutama Nusantara (TTN) Jember is a Under Shade Tobacco processing unit with manual monitoring of temperature and humidity using a hygrometer which causes workers to experience fatigue and delays in taking action if the temperature and humidity are not up to standard. Based on these problems, an IoT (Internet of Things)-based temperature and humidity monitoring tool is needed. The research was carried out by assembling tools using Arduino Ide, DHT 11 Sensor, 2 Channel Relay, LM2596 and programmed with Arduino Ide software. Based on the functionality validation test, this tool can be said to function properly because the X value is 1. The efficiency value is declared very efficient with a value 6.9% and the effectiveness value is declared very effective because the effectiveness value increases from 17 to 22. The implementation of this tools in the fermentation room also increases the effectiveness of tobacco quality with a value of 112.9%.
