Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that has hit Indonesia poses a challenge for educators to find effective and efficient alternatives to distance learning. Therefore, this study aims to develop distance math learning devices using the PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite and Review) learning strategies that are valid, practical and effective. This type of research is development research that uses the Plomp development model. This research was conducted at SMPN 1 Duduksampeyan Gresik in the 2021/2022 academic year. The learning devices developed consist of lesson plans and worksheet on the set material.The development phase consists of an initial investigation phase, a design phase, a realization or construction phase and a test, evaluation and revision phase. Data collection methods used are tests, observations and questionnaires. The data were analyzed using the formula for the average value and the percentage was then classified according to the established criteria. The results of data analysis show that distance math learning devices using the PQ4R learning strategies are in the valid, practical and effective categories. This can be seen from the average validity of the lesson plan and student  worksheet of 3.78 and 3.87, respectively. While the average practicality of lesson plan and student  worksheet  are 3.93 and 3.92, respectively. The implementation of the syntax of learning mathematics is included in the very good category with a percentage of 100%. The response of students after participating in the lesson was very positive. Student learning outcomes are included in the very good category with a percentage of completeness of 90.63%.

Abstract

Semiotics has an important role in supporting the success of mathematics problems solving. In mathematics everything that related to the signs, symbols and relations between symbols is called semiotics. In this study, semiotics means the ability producing signs including the symbolization process, the coding process and the meaning process as a part of a code system for communicating the information. The purpose of this study is to find out the detailed description of students' semiotic ability in solving the linear program problems which is distinguished from the language skill. Researchers tested the credibility and validity of the data using the triangulation source. The results of the study shows that students who have high language skills are able to do these three processes. So that the information conveyed from the results of the problem solving becomes a meaningful information. Students who have medium language skills have difficulty in the process of symbolization and meaning. Consequentlly, the information conveyed is incomplete. Meanwhile students who have low language skills have difficulty in these three processes. So that students have not been able to convey information from the results of their work.

Abstract

The graduates of all education level are expected to have all aspect in accordance with national education goals, one of which is life skill. Life skill development in school is influenced by learning process in the classroom, including selection of appropriate learning model. Theoretically, cooperative model STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) type through team teaching method is suitable to train students’ life skill. Because of that, the aim of this research is to know the students’ life skill during the learning process of quadrilateral topic using this STAD learning model in the seventh grade of SMP Negeri 4 Surabaya. The research result show that students’ life skill are good. It is shown from the average score of rational thinking skill at 2,83 and social skill at 2,63.

Abstract

Abstract:Mathematics teacher candidates need to have good digital literacy so that they will be able to guide their students to use digital media wisely. Therefore this study aims to describe the increase in students' digital literacy after attending microteaching lectures (Introduction to Schooling Field 1) using Google Classroom. This type of research is quasi-experimental research with a quantitative approach. The research sample was 30 students in the 6th semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. Methods of collecting data using performance tests. Data analysis of students' digital literacy improvement used the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. Digital literacy indicators used include aspects of technical skills, critical understanding, and communicative abilities. Based on the analysis of research data, it is concluded that there is an increase in student digital literacy after attending lectures using Google Classroom. Student digital literacy is included in the advanced category.Abstrak:Mahasiswa calon guru matematika perlu memiliki literasi digital yang baik agar nantinya mampu membimbing peserta didiknya menggunakan media digital dengan bijak. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan peningkatan literasi digital mahasiswa sesudah mengikuti perkuliahan microteaching (Pengenalan Lapangan Persekolahan 1) menggunakan Google Classroom. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian eksperimen semu dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian adalah 30 mahasiswa semester 6 tahun akademik 2021/2022. Metode pengumpul data menggunakan tes unjuk kerja. Analisis data peningkatan literasi digital mahasiswa menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test.  Indikator literasi digital yang digunakan meliputi aspek technical skill, critical understanding dan communicative abilities. Abstract

Differentiated learning is crucial for addressing student diversity and ensuring all students have equal opportunities to achieve their learning objectives. Therefore, it is essential that teachers understand and implement these strategies in the classroom. This study analyzes Islamic primary school (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah/MI) teachers' understanding of differentiated learning. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research involved 54 MI teachers (10 male and 44 female) from 34 MI schools in Babat Lamongan, East Java. Instruments included written tests and interviews. The written test featured a pre-test and post-test via the Quizizz application, while interviews followed the differentiated learning training. Data analysis combined quantitative and qualitative techniques. Quantitative results showed that the MI teachers' conceptual understanding, measured by the N-gain score, was 0.078, categorizing it as low. However, qualitative findings revealed that, post-training, MI teachers demonstrated a solid understanding of all indicators: explaining concepts, identifying characteristics, providing examples and non-examples, and applying differentiated learning strategies. The study concludes that training in differentiated learning significantly enhances teachers' understanding. Regular and consistent training is recommended to sustain and further develop teachers' expertise in this area.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan pada literasi numerasi pada minat baca peserta didik di SMP Negeri 22 Surabaya melalui implementasi program pembiasaan literasi berupa komik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain pre dan post-test tanpa kelompok kontrol. Sebanyak 67 siswa dari kelas delapan di SMP Negeri 22 Surabaya dipilih sebagai sampel. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes yang meliputi pre-test dan post-test. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan metode alur interaktif dengan pendekatan kualitatif, dan data yang relevan dikumpulkan dari berbagai sumber. Hasil penelitian ini menyarankan bahwa program pembiasaan literasi yang menggunakan media komik matematika dapat meningkatkan keterampilan literasi numerasi siswa di SMP Negeri 22 Surabaya.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between algebraic thinking skills and mathematical resilience in mathematics learning using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. This method is employed to analyze and synthesize findings from various relevant studies on these two aspects. A total of 20 articles meeting the inclusion criteria were reviewed, focusing on topics related to algebraic thinking skills and mathematical resilience in mathematics learning. The findings indicate a positive relationship between algebraic thinking skills and mathematical resilience, showing that students with strong algebraic skills are better equipped to face challenges in mathematics. These findings highlight the importance of effective algebra instruction in enhancing students' mental resilience when encountering difficulties in mathematics learning.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the abductive reasoning process in solving algebra. In this research, the literature study method was used. Based on the results of studies that have been conducted, abductive reasoning helps students make creative and flexible guesses, especially when the solution is not clear at the start. By applying abductive reasoning to solve algebra problems, students are directed to recognize abductive problems, identify various solutions then select the best solution, and assimilate. The solution found must be re-evaluated because there is no guarantee that the solution obtained from the abductive reasoning process is correct.
