Abstract

This study is a classroom action research that aims at improving students’ reading comprehension achievement in the narrative text through the RIDER strategy. The subject of this study were 28 students of XI. IPA 3 of Senior High School 1 of Jarai in the academic year 2015/2016. The research was conducted in two cycles (1 and 2 ) and the preliminary stage was initiated before the study was done. Each cycle has four steps; (1) Planning ; (2) Action ; (3) Observation, and (4) Reflection. The last step of each cycle was administered to what to do to the next cycle. There are two data collections, namely quantitative and qualitative. Tests are used as quantitative and observation is quantitative data. The mean and percentage are used to score the tests. Meanwhile, the qualitative data are interpreted by describing the result of the observation form. The findings show that there are improvements in students’ reading comprehension achievement in narrative text. From the mean score of students’ reading test, the achievements score are 70.17 for cycle 1; 78.57 for cycle 2. The improvements of the study for reading tests are 60.01% in cycle 1, 50 % for cycle 2. The result of observation also shows the improvement of students’ motivation in learning text. The observation is divided into two categories; active students and inactive students. In cycle 1, there were 11 students or 39.28 % for inactive students, in cycle 2 there were 4 or 14.28 % inactive students. Meanwhile, in cycle 1 there were 17 or 60.71% active students, and 24 or 85.71 % active students for cycle 2, From these data, therefore, the implementation of the RIDER ( Read, Imagine, Describe, Evaluate and Repeat ) strategy is appropriate strategy to improve students’ reading comprehension achievement in narrative text. And the criteria of success have been reached successfully.

Abstract

English is an international language in Indonesia. It is important for students to master English because of its very central role in every aspect of this country. SMA and SMK students in Palembang City should prepare more seriously for their English language skills to face a better future. The English they study will have a very significant effect when they continue their education to tertiary level or enter the world of work. In this activity, the Darussalam Polytechnic lecturers, especially the lecturers for the English course, provided very important information for students in Palembang City to be successful in mastering English. This activity was carried out through a Zoom meeting with 40 participants consisting of high school and vocational students in Palembang City. This activity was carried out for 1 day on September 4 2022

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know and describe the role of teachers in the learning process in Middle School Karya Sembawa of Sembawa. This research uses qualitative research methods with the process of collecting data using interviews, observation and questionnaires. The place of this research is SMP Karya Sembawa, Kab. Banyuasin. The sample of this study amounted to 36 people consisting of 30 students and 6 teachers. For sample student researcher uses random sampling technique (random). The results of this study indicate that in general teachers who teach in SMP Karya Sembawa, already carry out their duties and roles well but the obstacles that exist in Karya Junior High School od Sembawa still less support books books such as packages in the process of learning Indonesian.

Abstract

This study's goal was to contrast the results of of various vocabulary teaching methods, such as using context, dictionary definitions, and synonyms to teach vocabulary, on both transient and persistent vocabulary memory. Three groups of 90 intermediate EFL students were chosen at random and divided into: context, definition, and synonyms (thirty learners in each group). They received instruction in 30 vocabulary words over the course of two sessions. Two post-tests were administered, the first four weeks after the lesson and the second eight weeks later, to gauge student retention of vocabulary words. One-way ANOVA was used to evaluate the results. When compared to the other two approaches, the context method outperformed them in both postponed tests, according to the data. The study's conclusions have pedagogical ramifications for EFL instructors, students, syllabus designers, content creators, and language test creators. The study's findings also offer useful details on the best method for teaching vocabulary that results in longer-lasting retention of L2 terms.

Abstract

Memberikan Penyuluhan kepada masyarakat pentingnya menjaga kebugaran jasmani dan rohani. Serta menjauhkan diri dari penyalagunaan dan pemakaian narkoba di kalangan remaja. Memberikan pemahaman betapa bahayanya narkoba untuk kalangan remaja dan merusak generasi bangsa, dan akan terjerat kasus hukum di pihak kepolisian. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan bagi warga RT. 29. RW. 10 Kota Palembang. Dalam kegiatan ini didapatkan hasil penyuluhan kegiatan olahraga yang biasa dilaksanakan oleh warga disana adalah senam kesegaran jantung sehat bagi ibu-ibu dan para lansia. Permainan bola voli yang dilakukan oleh pemuda dan pemudi sekitaran RT. 29. Kesadaran masyarakat akan penting-nya berolahraga akan membawa perubahan positif bagi diri pribadi khusus nya masyarakat RT. 29. RW. 10 Kota Palembang.

Abstract

: Learning Community in Learning English Speaking Skills at Junior High School 4 Sungai Lilin. One of the methods that can be applied in an effort to develop students ' ability to speak is learning community (community learning and studying together). Learning community is a concept of creating s hared learning in school, the learning process between teachers and teachers , teachers and students , students with students , and even among the school community with the community outs ide the school. This study aimed to describe the extent to which the effectiveness of the learning community in learning English s peaking s kills high school students of class IX Junior High School 4 Sungai Lilin, measured using deseign research that is an experimental type of pretest-posttest control group design experiments. Furthermore, data were collected using observation and oral tests were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results showed that the learning community is effectively used in improving the s kills of English s peaking high school students of class IX Junior High School 4 Sungai Lilin. It is based on the results of data analysis showed that the average test s peaking s kills of students who take classes that implement the learning in the learning community is higher than the results of the test speaking s kills of students who take the learning in the class room learning community that does not apply.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate Kahoot's efficacy as an online test and its effects on students' academic performance. 15 students from the management major were chosen as research participants by purposive sampling for this study at STIA Satya Negara. Utilizing a qualitative approach, this investigation. Interviews and questionnaires were the research tools used in this study. The purpose of the study's questionnaire was to learn how students felt about Kahoot as a digital evaluation tool used for in-class online quizzes. Additionally, interviews that were semi-structured were done to find out how lecturers and students felt about Kahoot as a digital evaluation tool. According to the study's findings, Kahoot is actually used in EFL lessons. According to the findings of the student impression survey, the majority of students more than 70% are happy with the Kahoot application. The academic success of students is enhanced with Kahoot. The progression of the daily and weekly quizzes demonstrates that student performance has greatly improved from the first week, midterm, to final semester exams.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memperkenalkan pulau kemaro sebagai wisata sejarah kota Palembang di dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan Rapat Kerja Nasional Jaringan Kota Pusaka Indonesia (JKPI) ke IX 2022. Manfaat dari penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi salah satu wadah pariwisata khususnya di kota Palembang agar dunia, khususnya pariwisata lokal dalam negeri berkunjung ke Pulau Kemaro. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif, dimana pengambilan data melalui tahap observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Sample dalam penelitian ini adalah wisatawan yang berkunjung ke Pulau Kemaro Ketika pelaksanaan JKPI ke 20. Dari hasil pengumpukan data yang didapatkan selanjutnya data tersebut dianalisis melalui sistem trianggulasi data yang hasilnya akan menjabarkan penemuan-penemuan dan proses pengembangan Pulau Kemaro di masa depannya. Hasil dari penelitian ini di dapatkan Pulau Kemaro adalah pulau yang memiliki sejarah sangat erat dengan terbentuknya Kota Palembang, persilangan antar budaya, etnis, agama, dan makanan tradisional. Maka dari itu Pulau Kemaro merupakan daerah yang di sakralkan bagi umat keturunan Tionghoa dan Palembang asli. Pulau yang dijadikan tempat ibadah umat tionghoa dan wisata religi bagi mereka.

Abstract

This article's goal is to explain how well English may be learned online. The research methodology for this study combines qualitative descriptive analytic approaches with descriptive methods. Qualitative research describes in depth and detail and generates data in the form of spoken or written words from the subjects being studied. Through qualitative research methods like in-depth interviews, it is possible to comprehend the behaviors of the subject and object under study. The interview form is conducted online utilizing the WhatsApp app due to online circumstances. 29 students from class VIII of SMP Nur Hidayah, Ulak Embacang, and Musi Banyuasin served as the primary data sources, while secondary data sources included books, journals, and library materials linked to this subject. 26 of the 29 pupils in class VIII at SMP Nur Hidayah Ulak Embacang approved with online learning, according to the results. The others disagreed because their families' circumstances were still less favorable. The discussion leads to the conclusion that online English learning is a very efficient approach for learning the language. It is evident from the accomplishment of the language learning objective, namely the improvement of English language abilities.

Abstract

The 2013 curriculum change to the elementary and junior high school levels' most crucial independent learning curriculum calls for a thematic integrative learning approach where students are invited to see, pay attention, and observe their surroundings and are no longer focused on rote learning. This training's objectives are to develop student competency in the areas of knowledge and skills as well as the understanding of teachers, principals, and supervisors on the implementation of the independent learning curriculum. Thirty school administrators and supervisors participated in this seminar. The program's outcomes demonstrated that the participants, who were principals and supervisors of schools in the city of Palembang, were able to comprehend the training materials properly both before and after the training. It is hoped that this training would be provided to all teachers so that they can comprehend how to execute the autonomous learning curriculum and enhance their capacity to do so in accordance with their unique circumstances.
