Abstract

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is an important component that cannot be separated from human activities, both in industrial and educational environments. There are still students who do not pay attention to occupational safety aspects in workshops, such as not wearing complete personal protective equipment (PPE) and not understanding safe work procedures. This condition shows that the level of OSH awareness among students is still low. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of video media in increasing student awareness of OSH. This study used a quantitative quasi-experimental design, with the research sample consisting of students majoring in light vehicle engineering and motorcycle engineering at SMK NU Muara Padang. The instruments used included an OSH awareness questionnaire, observation sheets, and educational videos. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analysis with a paired t-test. The results showed that the average knowledge score before the OSH promotion using videos was 38.69, and after the promotion, it was 44.69 (delta mean knowledge score of 6). The average attitude score before the K3 promotion using videos was 63.52 and after was 75.29 (delta mean attitude score of 1.77). The average K3 awareness score before the K3 promotion using videos was 52.60 and after was 60.94 (delta mean awareness score of 8.34). The results of the paired t-test show that there is a significant difference between K3 promotion using video media and the increase in knowledge (p=0.000) and attitude (p=0.000). Video media has been proven to be effective in increasing students' knowledge and attitudes about OSH. There is a need to develop other similar educational video media in the form of demonstration videos, especially regarding ergonomic work positions and prevention efforts, as well as improving occupational health and safety.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of an infant’s life is a fundamental intervention in improving nutritional status and preventing stunting, particularly in communities with limited access to health information. In Sugihwaras Barat Village, an educational activity titled “Nourish the Body with Exclusive Breastfeeding” was conducted, targeting 25 breastfeeding mothers at Posyandu Melati. This intervention employed an interactive lecture approach combined with leaflets as a visual educational medium. Evaluation was carried out through pre-test and post-test assessments using identical instruments to measure changes in participants’ knowledge. The results revealed a significant improvement, with 76% of participants classified as having good knowledge and 24% as having sufficient knowledge. Active engagement during discussions and positive reception of the material indicated high acceptance of the educational method. These findings underscore the effectiveness of direct interactive education combined with appropriate supporting media in enhancing public health literacy. Continuous educational efforts involving community health workers are essential to ensure optimal and sustained exclusive breastfeeding practices, thereby contributing to long-term improvements in infant health outcomes.

Abstract

Educational Play Equipment (APE) is one of the facilities provided by Early Childhood Education (PAUD) institutions to support the learning process through play. This study aims to assess the compliance of APE and the arrangement of outdoor play areas with the 2018 Guidelines for Managing PAUD Classroom Space, SNI 9169:2023, the Ministry of Education and Culture’s 2021 Safe APE Guidelines for Early Childhood, and Ministerial Regulation No. 3 of 2022. The study employs a qualitative design with a descriptive approach through facility observations, interviews with teaching staff, and a review of school documents. The data analysis process includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings indicate that Kindergartens X and Y have not fully met the required safety standards. Both schools still show insufficient attention to the stability of playground equipment, and several materials used may pose potential hazards to children. Such conditions can increase the risk of accidents in the play area, including bumps, falls, pinching injuries, and cuts. Therefore, repairs and replacements of unsafe equipment, rearrangement of play structures, improvements to the play surface using softer materials, and strengthened supervision by teachers and parents are needed to reduce the risk of injury. With these measures, children can play in an environment that is safer and minimizes potential hazards.
