Abstract

E-cigarettes are a modern form of conventional cigarettes, many have used them because they contain nicotine and various flavors so that young people like them. This literature aims to determine the effects of exposure to e-cigarettes containing nicotine or not on the cerebrum and behavior of experimental animals. The method of making literature in the form of literature review with a comprehensive approach. By searching for articles or journals in research journal databases, internet, articles. The database search used was Google Scholar, Pubmed, Proquest. Exposure to e-cigarette smoke can cause damage to the cerebrum, such as inflammation to necrosis, besides it can cause decreased cognitive abilities, behavior to emotional. E-cigarettes contain various components that are dangerous if consumed for a long time can cause dependence, decreased cognitive memory function and emotional changes. Exposure to secondhand smoke also causes inflammation, damage or necrosis. Nicotine also plays a role in this.

Abstract

Gastritis is a condition where inflammation occurs in the surface lining of the stomach which can be caused by several factors, one of which is non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs. The most commonly used NSAIDs are aspirin, aspirin at a dose of 600 mg/kg can cause acute damage to the stomach. Honey with 30 ml/day or the equivalent of 2 tablespoons provides a gastroprotective effect or protection and healing for stomach damage because it contains antioxidants which reduce the level of damage to the stomach. The purpose of this study was to determine the antioxidant and gastroprotective effectiveness of pure honey in Rattus norvegicus Sprague Dawley rats induced by oral aspirin. This study used a laboratory experimental method which examined the effectiveness of pure honey as an antioxidant and gastroprotective for 11 days. The subjects used were 25 Rattus norvegicus. The results showed that based on histopathological scores, administration of 0.5 mL/kgBB honey for 4 days in experimental animals could significantly reduce gastric damage induced by aspirin 600 mg/kgBB. However, when viewed from the results of the data on GSH levels, there was no significant effect of giving honey on GSH levels in experimental animals.

Abstract

Ovarian cysts are a common gynecological condition that can be benign or malignant. Ovarian cysts are often asymptomatic, but can cause disruption of ovarian function and have the potential to develop into cancer. This study aims to determine the prevalence rate of ovarian cysts based on clinical and histopathological features at Tarakan District Hospital in the 2020-2023 period. This descriptive study used a cross-sectional design with data obtained from the anatomical pathology laboratory archives and medical records at Tarakan District Hospital. The research sample consisted of 427 subjects. The results of the study showed that the most common clinical picture was an enlarged abdominal lump (48.7%), the most common clinical diagnosis was ovarian cyst (25.5%), the most common histopathological diagnosis was endometriosis cyst (40.75%), and the most common age group was ≥19-<45 years old (52.7%). The analysis showed that the prevalence of ovarian cysts was highest in this age group, with endometriosis cysts as the most frequently found type based on anatomical pathology examination. Based on these results, it can be concluded that ovarian cysts most often occur at ages ≥19-<45 years with endometriosis cysts being the most common type.
