Abstract

Dairy farming in East Java, particularly in Malang Regency, is supported by several districts such as Karangploso, Ngantang, Ngajum, and Pujon as the dairy production centers. Pujon district is one of the dairy production centers in Malang Regency, reaching 20,411 cattle. This research aims to describe the dairy farmers’ group dynamics condition and determine its group dynamics level. The location was purposively determined by considering the dairy center area in Malang Regency, where the majority population is dairy farmers. The researcher used the descriptive analysis method and selected 50 respondents by Purposive Sampling. The data were collected using a structured questionnaire, interview, observation, and documentation. Furthermore, the results showed that the majority of group dynamics is categorized as “high,” yet only two elements are categorized as “moderate,” namely group structure (70.3%) and group training and development (70,4%). In this view, the high number of group dynamics showed pride and satisfaction with their work performance regarding achieving the group’s goals. Also, good leadership will improve group effectiveness.

Abstract

Inorganic fertilizers are currently still widely used and are the main choice for farmers because they can increase crop productivity. Companies need to pay attention to consumer orientation, which is related to how to find the target market, needs and convince consumers to make a purchase. This study aims to analyze the influence of brand image, price, review, ecology, and credibility on the decision to purchase inorganic fertilizers by coffee farmers. The locations taken are Srimulyo and Sukodono villages, Dampit District, considering that the village is the largest coffee-producing village in Malang. Purposive sampling was used for sampling as many as 35 coffee farmers with the provision of using and purchasing inorganic fertilizers. The data used in the study is primary data collected through surveys with observations, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. The research uses SEM (Structural Equation Modelling) data analysis with the PLS (Partial Least Square) approach, and conducts data analysis with the help of SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results of the analysis of respondent characteristics showed that most coffee farmers were dominated by men and the level of education of farmers varied from elementary to bachelor's degree. Most of the respondents' farming experience was from 1 to 50 years with a maximum land area of 2 ha. Testing the inner model obtained a determination coefficient (R-Square) of 60.1% brand image, price, reviews, ecology, and credibility were able to explain the influence on the decision to purchase inorganic fertilizers by farmers. The results of bootstrapping data showed that brand image and ecological had a significant negative effect and reviews had a significant positive effect on the decision to purchase inorganic fertilizers. Factors that do not affect the decision to buy inorganic fertilizers are price and credibility.

Abstract

Introduction: The pivotal role of the agricultural sector in Indonesia's economic advancement stems from the employment of a significant portion of the Indonesian populace. Central to this sector are agricultural extension workers tasked with fostering motivational shifts, altering operational methodologies, and instilling adaptive practices congruent with technological advancements. This research endeavors to scrutinize the modus operandi of agricultural extension workers amidst the digital metamorphosis era within the Agricultural Extension Center situated in Lowokwaru, Malang, Indonesia. Methods: Employing a Mixed methods approach, this study draws upon primary and secondary data sources. Thirty samples, affiliated with the Farmers Group at the Agricultural Extension Center in Lowokwaru Malang, constitute the study cohort, selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data accrual involves questionnaire administration, employing the Likert scale as the measurement metric. Statistical analysis entails multiple linear regression, facilitated through SPSS 22 software. Results: Simultaneously, variables embodying extension workers' roles as facilitators, innovators, motivators, dynamists, and educators collectively impact the income of registered farmers at the Agricultural Extension Center in Lowokwaru, Malang. Conclusion: This study reveals that the roles of extension workers as facilitators, innovators, and educators significantly enhance farmers' capacity to integrate digital technology into their agricultural practices. Nevertheless, the absence of direct statistical significance in some roles suggests the interplay of other critical factors, such as farmers' readiness to adopt technology and external support mechanisms. These findings highlight the need for targeted interventions to bolster extension workers' capabilities and farmer engagement with digital innovations.

Abstract

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Gum damar (Shorea javanica) is a high value non timber forest product with strong export potential, particularly due to its applications in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing industries. CV. Media Mitra Indonesia, as one of the exporters of gum damar, faces challenges in increasing its export sales volume. These challenges include limited human resources, low adoption of digital marketing technologies, and intensifying competition from other producing countries such as India and Vietnam. This study aims to identify the internal and external factors influencing the company and to formulate appropriate marketing strategies to enhance competitiveness and promote sustainable export growth. METHODS This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach supported by SWOT analysis, along with IFAS and EFAS matrices, and strategic mapping using the SWOT and SPACE matrices. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with key informants, and the distribution of Likert-scale questionnaires to the company’s export marketing team. FINDINGS The findings reveal that the company’s main strengths lie in product quality, distribution efficiency, and a positive export image. However, it also faces internal weaknesses such as limited human resources and underutilized digital technology. On the external side, opportunities such as market expansion and government support outweigh threats like export regulations and global competition. The S-O (Strength–Opportunity) strategy was selected as the primary strategic direction, supported by the SPACE Matrix results, which positioned the company in the aggressive quadrant indicating readiness for proactive expansion. CONCLUSION: An aggressive strategy is considered the most suitable approach to respond to global market dynamics and reinforce the company’s export position for gum damar. The study contributes to the development of marketing strategies for non-timber forest commodities in the mid-scale agribusiness sector. Recommendations include strengthening brand identity, advancing digital export capabilities, enhancing human resource competencies, and fostering product innovation. The limitation of this study lies in its relatively small respondent base; therefore, future research is encouraged to include a broader range of industry actors to achieve more representative findings.
