Abstract

Stunting is a serious nutritional problem that Indonesia is still facing. One of the cities in West Kalimantan Province that still contributes to stunting cases is Pontianak City, which is the provincial capital. The condition of environmental factors that are not optimal, supported by the characteristics of slum and densely populated areas, makes Pontianak City, especially the Murai Valley, an area that is vulnerable to stunting risks. This study aims to analyze the indicators of the home environment in families at risk of stunting in the Murai Valley, Pontianak City. The research design used is descriptive observational with a cross-sectional approach, the number of samples is 58 respondents who are categorized as Families at Risk of Stunting. Sampling was carried out by simple random sampling. The location of the research is in the Murai Valley Quality Family Village, Mariana Village, Pontianak City. Data were collected through interviews and direct observations, consisting of variables such as personal hygiene, cleanliness of the home environment, and cleanliness of latrines. The data was analyzed univariate and presented in the form of tables and narratives. The results of the study showed that the personal hygiene of families at risk of stunting was mostly 91.4% in the poor category. The cleanliness of the home environment was not clean by 62.1%, and as many as 93.1% of respondents described the cleanliness condition of the latrines as less qualified. There is a need to improve sanitation, cleanliness of the home environment and improvements to family toilet facilities. It is also hoped that there will be awareness of families at risk of stunting related to the implementation of clean and healthy living behaviors in the family order as a form of stunting prevention efforts.

Abstract

Stunting remains a serious health problem as it is associated with an increased risk of morbidity and mortality in children under five. Based on the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (IHS), the prevalence of stunting in Pontianak City reached 16.7%, which still exceeds the national target. Specific interventions are needed to address this issue, especially parenting-related ones. The role of fathers in parenting is very important to improve toddlers' health status and support children's optimal growth and development. This study evaluates the effect of "PENTING" education on improving fathers' parenting role in stunting prevention. The research design was a quasi-experiment, with a sample of 30 toddlers and mothers from families at risk of stunting selected by purposive sampling. The research was conducted in Kampung KB Lembah Murai, Pontianak City. The educational intervention was conducted six times using the flip sheet media, with data measurement before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests. The results showed a significant increase in the role of parenting by fathers after the intervention. This finding suggests that the "PENTING" educational program effectively strengthens fathers' role as part of stunting prevention efforts.

Abstract

Stuntingis one of the major challenges in public health in Indonesia, including in West Kalimantan.Stunting, which is characterized by a condition of failure to thrive due to chronic malnutrition and recurrent infections in early childhood, has long-term impacts on a person's physical, cognitive and productivity development. Based on the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) report, the prevalence of stunting at the national level reached around 21.6%. This study aims to determine the Nutritional Status Assessment (PSG) of cadres' knowledge in conducting early detection of stunting in the community. PSG training is expected to improve cadres' knowledge in conducting early detection of stunting. The method used in this study was the Quasi Experiment One Group with a pre-test and post-test design. A total of 30 health cadres from the village were the samples in this study. Before the training, cadres' knowledge in early detection of stunting was tested using observation. The analysis used a paired sample t-test to determine any significant differences between cadres' knowledge before and after education on nutritional status. The results showed that there was a significant increase in cadres' knowledge in conducting early detection of stunting after participating in PSG training, with a p-value of 0.000. This shows that PSG training has a significant effect on increasing cadres' knowledge in detecting stunting. The conclusion of this study is that PSG training is effective in improving cadres' knowledge in early detection of stunting. It is recommended to strengthen the capacity of cadres in overcoming stunting in the community.

Abstract

Mother's knowledge is very important because it is one of the contributing factors to the emergence of stunting in toddlers. Mothers with low knowledge have a higher risk of their children experiencing stunting compared to mothers with sufficient knowledge. The family plays a very important role in efforts to prevent stunting. Preventing stunting in families can be associated with eight family functions that support each other. This study aims to analyze the effect of education on improving the knowledge of mothers with toddlers regarding the 8 family functions. The eight family funtions are the religious function, sosio-cultural function, affection function, protection function, reproduction function, socialization and education function, economic function, and environmental development function. This research method is quantitative, using a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest questionnaire instrument. The sample consists of 30 mothers with toddlers at risk of stunting in the Family Planning Village (Kampung KB), Lembah Murai Village. Data analysis used the Paired T-Test to test the effect of education on the 8 family functions before and after the intervention. The results show an average knowledge score increase of 21.76 after the intervention. The results of the Paired T-Test indicate a p value of 0,000, which signifies a statistically significant difference between the scores before and after the education on the 8 family funtions. Therefore, a good family role is very important in forming healthy living patterns in toddlers, making the active role of the family the key to supporting the optimal growth and development of toddlers. It is recommended that the education program be carried out regularly by involving cadres as active companions to support the understanding of mothers with toddlers in stunting prevention. Abstract

Bengkayang is a district contributing to stunting cases in West Kalimantan, at 30.1% by 2022. The figure has increased compared to the previous year. The majority of the population in this district is the Ahe Dayak tribe, with an average level of secondary to lower education, i.e., no SD, SD, or SLTP graduates. It can affect public understanding, especially among young mothers, of stunting prevention efforts. One of the priority stunting villages in the district is Tumiang Village, which is in the category of Quality Family Village (Kampung KB) with remote access to health services. These factors are determinants of the intensity of health services from the local health force, so it is necessary to make an effort to improve education for young mothers in the prevention of stunting. The study aims to analyze the impact of education through the Stunting Prevention Diary on the improvement of Mother Balita's knowledge in Quality Family Village. The design used was quasi-experimental, with a one-group pretest and posttest. Samples of as many as 30 mothers who have news and are in the village of Tumiang Samalantan Prefecture were taken by purposive sampling. The measurement was done twice over a month of intervention using the Stunting Prevention Diary media. The data was analyzed using a pair T test (α = 95%). The results of the study showed that the majority of young mothers are unemployed (playing as a householder of 53.5%), the job of the head of the family is a farmer/manager/garden worker (80%), the educational level of the mother is SLTP and SLTA (36.7%), and the family income under UMK Bengkayang district was 70%. The knowledge score of the respondents increased from 9.40 to 12.83. The intervention provided is educational through the media. Diary Prevention Stunting is effective in improving the knowledge of the mother of the newborn. Thus, it can be concluded that the education of stunting prevention using the media Diary stunting prevention has an influence on the improvement of mothers' knowledge and can be used as one of the examples of health promotion efforts in order to accelerate the decline in stunting in Bengkayang district.
