Abstract

Learning Hijaiyah letters serves as a fundamental component in early Islamic education. However, many early childhood education institutions, including TK Bustanul Afthal Yapis in Nabire, Papua, still rely on conventional methods such as flashcards and rote memorization, which are often less engaging for young learners. This research aims to develop an interactive, educational, and contextually relevant digital learning media based on Scratch to introduce Hijaiyah letters to early learners. The study adopts a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model—comprising Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate phases. The developed media integrates animated visuals, audio pronunciations, and clickable interactions tailored to the visual and kinesthetic learning styles of children aged 4–6 years. The preliminary implementation showed that the media significantly increased children's engagement, attention, and motivation to learn Hijaiyah letters in a fun and immersive manner. Teachers also expressed positive feedback regarding the media's user-friendliness and adaptability within classroom settings. The interface was designed to be intuitive and culturally relevant, incorporating local Papuan ornaments and character illustrations. Moreover, the application operates offline and requires minimal hardware, making it suitable for regions with limited technological infrastructure. Overall, this Scratch-based learning media presents an innovative and practical solution to enhance Islamic education for early childhood learners, especially in under-resourced educational contexts

Abstract

Low student learning motivation in conventional teaching remains a major challenge in elementary education, especially in regions with limited access to educational technology. This study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of interactive learning media based on games created with the Scratch application to improve learning motivation among fourth-grade students at SD Inpres Waharia. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach with a prototyping model, encompassing stages of needs analysis, media design, prototyping, implementation, and evaluation through limited trials. Data collection involved student engagement observations, teacher interviews, and validation sheets from media and subject experts. The results indicated that the use of Scratch significantly enhanced students’ attention and active participation, creating a more enjoyable and engaging learning atmosphere. Teachers acknowledged that the media supported visual and interactive material delivery, accelerating students’ understanding of key concepts. Therefore, Scratch-based media is a promising alternative for innovative learning tools, aligning with 21st-century educational needs and supporting digital transformation policies in elementary education.

Abstract

Developing tourism villages is a strategy promoted to accelerate the achievement of SDG Goal 1 (No Poverty). However, empirical evidence across various contexts indicates that tourism village development does not always result in the equitable distribution of economic benefits among local communities. A similar phenomenon is observed in Ponggok Village; while it has achieved economic success through tourism, it currently faces challenges such as declining visitor numbers, issues regarding return on investment and profit-sharing systems, and disparities in economic access among residents. These conditions are thought to stem from differences in trust, norms, and social networks among villagers, making social capital a crucial factor in bridging the gap toward equitable, tourism-based economic prosperity. Therefore, this study aims to examine the relationship between these three dimensions of social capital and the economic well-being of the Ponggok Village community. A quantitative approach was employed, utilizing descriptive statistics, a composite index, Chi-Square tests for supplementary analysis, and Spearman correlation tests for the primary analysis. The results indicate that social capital falls into the "good" category (index: 72.33), while economic well-being falls into the "very good" category (index: 83.65). Overall, social capital shows a strong, significant positive relationship with economic well-being (ρ = 0.516; p < 0.001). At the dimensional level, social networks exhibited the strongest relationship (ρ = 0.529), followed by trust (ρ = 0.487) and norms (ρ = 0.409). These findings demonstrate that enhancing economic well-being in tourism villages depends not only on developing the tourism sector itself but also on strengthening social ties that can more inclusively expand community access to information, participation, and economic opportunities.

Abstract

Abstract

Poverty is a complex and multidimensional phenomenon that cannot be sufficiently measured solely through income or expenditure approaches. This research is essential because poverty is often narrowly perceived as purely economic issue that related to income and expenditure, whereas it is actually a far more complex phenomenon that extends beyong mere financial figures. This study aims to measure poverty using the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) in Dampit District. Introduced in 2010, the MPI captures poverty through three key dimensions: education, health, and living standards. The multidimensional perspective allows for the identification of specific indicators that reflect the various deprivations and limitations experienced by the poor. The research was conducted in Dampit District, which is noted as the second-highest recipient of BPNT and PKH, as well as the second-highest number of poor households in Malang Regency. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 346 households across 12 villages, proportionally divided into poor and non-poor household groups. MPI measurements in Dampit District are classified into four levels: very low, low, medium, and high. The study identified three villages with high MPI scores: Sukodono Village (0.301), Srimulyo Village (0.271), and Baturetno Village (0.276). Only one area, Dampit Village (0.059), categorized as very low, serves as the district's administrative center. The dimensions of education and living standards significantly contributed to the deprivations found across the villages. The findings of this research are expected to serve as a foundation for formulating poverty alleviation policies and prioritizing development strategies based on MPI dimensions.
