Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara lingkar skrotum dan konsentrasi spermatozoa pada kambing peranakan ettawa (PE) jantan. Penelitian menggunakan 10 ekor kambing PE jantan yang dibagi dalam dua kelompok umur yaitu kelompok I umur 1-1,5 tahun dan kelompok II umur 2-4 tahun. Pengukuran lingkar skrotum menggunakan scrotal measuring tape dan penampungan semen menggunakan elektroejakulator. Analisis data menggunakan koefisien korelasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rataan lingkar skrotum kambing PE jantan pada kelompok umur I dan II yaitu (24,1±1,5) dan (26,4±0,9) cm dengan rataan konsentrasi spermatozoa (1.630±533,5) dan (2.074±262,2) x 106/ml. Hasil analisis koefisien korelasi antara lingkar skrotum dan  konsentrasi  spermatozoa yaitu (r = 0,673) menunjukkan hubungan yang positif sangat nyata (p0,01). Semakin besar lingkar skrotum maka konsentrasi spermatozoa semakin tinggi.Kata kunci: Lingkar skrotum, konsentrasi spermatozoa, dan kambing PE. ABSTRACT This study aims to know the relationships of scrotal circumference and sperm concentration in male Ettawa Cross Breed. Data for this study were obtained from 10 males Ettawa Cross Breed which were divided into two age groups. Group I age 1-1,5 years and group II age 2-4 years. Measurement of scrotal circumferences were obtained by using scrotal measuring tape and collection of semen were carried out using electroejaculator. Data were analysed by using correllation coefficient. The result showed that the scrotal circumference of male ettawa cross breed in group I and II were (24,1±1,5) and (26,4±0,9) cms with sperm concentration (1.630±533,5) and (2.074±262,2) x 106/ml. The analysis results of this study showed that the relationship of scrotal circumference and sperm concentration (r = 0, 673) were found to be highly significantly different (p0,01). The greater of scrotal circumference, the higher of sperm concentration. Abstract

ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membandingkan luas rongga pelvis sapi aceh betina indukan dan sapi bali betina indukan di Aceh Besar. Pengukuran luas rongga pelvis sapi dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat rice pelvimeter. Sampel yang digunakan meliputi 10 ekor sapi aceh betina indukan dan 8 ekor sapi bali betina indukan dengan umur 2,9 - 4,4 tahun. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan uji t. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata rongga pelvis sapi bali betina indukan dan sapi aceh betina indukan, yaitu (218,25 ± 27,47) dan (149,60 ± 16,70) cm2. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa rongga pelvis sapi bali indukan lebih besar (p0,01) dari pada rongga pelvis sapi aceh indukan. Luas rongga pelvis pada kedua sampel diklasifikasikan “besar”.Kata kunci : sapi aceh, sapi bali, rongga pelvis, rice pelvimeter ABSTRACTK This study aims to compare the pelvic sizes of aceh and bali cows in Aceh Besar regency. The measurement of the pelvic sizes of the sampled cows were carried out using rice pelvimeter tool. Sampled cows consisted of  ten Aceh cows and  eight Bali cows, with ages ranging from 2.9 - 4.4 years. Data collected were analysed using t-test. The result of this study showed that the pelvic sizes of bali cows and aceh cows were;(218.25 ± 27.47) and (149.60 ± 16.70) cm2, respectively. Statistical analysis showed that pelvic size of bali cows are highly significantly larger (p0,01) than of aceh cows. The pelvic sizes of both sampled cows are classified as "large".Keyword : aceh cow, bali cow, pelvic area, rice pelvimeter

Abstract

ABSTRAKSPeningkatan populasi ayam kampung salah satunya dapat dilakukan dengan penerapan metode inseminasi buatan (IB).Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu , untuk dapat mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh tingkat dosis dari spermatozoa yang diinsiminasikan terhadap tingkat fertilitas dan daya tetas telur ayam kampung. Tujuan dari Dosis IB ini, agar dapat mengetahui tingkat perbandingan ayam jantan dan ayam betina yang paling efisien dalam suatu pemeliharaan. Pada ayam jantan,dilakukan penampungan pada semennya, kemudian semen tersebut, dicampur dari 3 ekor ayam kampung jantan yang berumur sekitar 12-15 bulan. Konsentrasi spermatozoa semen yang telah diketahui, dibagi menjadi 3 bagian, lalu semen tersebut,kemudian dilakukan pengenceran masing masing semen dengan NaCl fisiologis hingga akhirnya diperoleh dosis akhir sebagai berikut, 50x106 /0,1 ml adalah perlakuan dosis 1, perlakuan 100x106 /0,1 ml adalah perlakuan dosis 2 , 200x106 /0,1 ml adalah perlakuan dosis 3. kemudian, terhadap 15 ekor ayam kampung betina, dilakukan inseminasi, agar dapat mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh dosis terhadap fertilitas dan daya tetas telur. Ayam betina yang digunakan untuk IB adalah ayam betina umur sekitar 12 – 18 bulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan dosis spermatozoa berpengaruh pada fertilitas dan daya tetas telur ayam kampung. Masing-masing perlakuan dosis 1, 2, dan 3, fertilitas telurnya adalah 52,00 ± 10,95%; 72,00 ± 17,89 %; dan 80,00 ± 14,14 %,sedangkan daya tetas terluar, persentasenya adalah 44,00 ± 16,73 %; 60,00 ± 14,14 %; dan 72,00 ± 10,95%. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah dosis sperma berpengaruh pada fertilitas dan daya tetas telur ayam kampung.ABSTRACTOne the way to increase the population of native chickens is by applying the artificial insemination (IB) method.The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the dose level of the infected spermatozoa on the level of fertility and hatchability of free – range chicken eggs. The purpose of this IB dose, in order to determine the level of comparison of the most efficient rooster and hen in a maintenance. For rooster, the semen is collected, then the cement is mixed from 3 male free – range chickens aged about 12 – 15 months. The known concentration of sperm spermatozoa is divided into 3 parts, then the semen is then diluted with physiological NaCl until the final dose is obtained as follows, 50 x 106/0,1 ml is treatment dose of 1, 100 x 106/0,1 ml is the treatment dose 2, 200 x 106/0,1 ml is the treatment dose 3. Then, 15 female free – range chickens were inseminated, in order to find out how the dose affects fertility and hatchability. The hens used for IB are hens aged 12 – 18 months. The results showed that the spermatozoa dose treatment had an effect on the fertility and hatchability of native chicken eggs. For each treatment dose 1, 2, dan 3, the egg fertility was 52 ± 10.95%; 72.00 ± 17.89%;and 80.00 ± 14.14%, while the outermost hatchability, the percentage was 44,00 ± 16.73%; 60.00 ± 14.14%; and 72.00 ± 10.95%. The conclusion of this study is that the dose of sperm has an effect on fertility and hatchability of native chicken eggs.

Abstract

ABSTRAKIkan kuniran merupakan salah satu bahan makanan yang memiliki sumber protein tinggi, mengandung asam amino esensial yang diperlukan oleh tubuh. Kondisi pasar lampulo yang ramai dan kurangnya higienitas dari tempat penjualan ikan, merupakan penyebab ikan terkontaminasi oleh bakteri Salmonella. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeteksi adanya cemaran bakteri Salmonella sp. pada daging ikan kuniran (Upeneus sulphureus) di Pasar Lampulo Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Carter. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian berjumlah 8 sampel yang diambil menggunakan metode observasional. Ikan kuniran diambil sebanyak 1 gram/sampel, lalu digerus dan ditanam pada media SCB (Salmonella Cystine Broth) dan diinkubasi dengan suhu 37oC selama 24 jam. Bakteri yang tumbuh ditanam pada media SSA (Salmonella Shigella Agar) dan diinkubasi dengan suhu 37oC selama 24 jam. Setelah itu dilakukan pewarnaan Gram dan penanaman bakteri pada media NA miring. Media NA miring diinkubasi pada suhu 37ºC selama 24 jam lalu dilakukan uji biokimia. Hasil penelitian dianalisis secara deskriptif dan data disajikan dalam bentuk gambar dan tabel. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ikan kuniran positif tercemar oleh bakteri Salmonella sp. berdasarkan pemeriksaan mikrobiologi.ABSTRACTKuniran fish is one of the foodstuffs that has a high protein source, containing essential amino acids needed by the body. The crowded conditions of the Lampulo market and the lack of hygiene from fish selling places are the causes of fish being contaminated by Salmonella bacteria. This    study     aims     to     detect     the     presence     of   Salmonella     sp.     on     the     flesh of kuniran fish (Upeneus sulphureus) at the Lampulo Market, Banda Aceh. This study uses the Carter method. The sample used in the study amounted to 8 samples taken using the observational method. Kuniran fish were taken as much as 1 gram/sample, then planted on SCB (Salmonella Cystine Broth) media and incubated at 37oC for 24 hours. The bacteria that grew were grown on SSA (Salmonella Shigella Agar) media and incubated at 37oC for 24 hours. After that, Gram staining and bacteria were planted on slanted NA media. The inclined NA medium was incubated at 37ºC for 24 hours and then a biochemical test was performed. The results of the study were analyzed descriptively and the data was presented in the form of pictures and tables. It can be concluded that the positive kuniran fish contaminated by Salmonella sp. based on microbiological examination.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness and accuracy of milk progesterone kit as an early pregnancy diagnosis tool for Etawah cross goat. This study used 9 lactating female goats with weight in the range of 35-51 kgs and the ages ranging from 2 to 2.5 years old. Eight goats were subject to estrous synchronisation protocol using progesterone implant (CIDR-G) followed by prostaglandin administration and one goat was left to show natural estrous. Early pregnancy diagnosis using milk progesterone kits was carried out on day 18 until 22 following services. The accuracy of the kits for early pregnancy diagnosis was subsequently confirmed using ultrasonography (USG) examination on day 35 following services. The results of this study showed that estrous response by synchronization was 50%. Whereas one female goat showed estrous sign naturally and was subject to pregnancy diagnosis procedure using the milk progesterone kits after natural mating. Pregnancy diagnosis using milk progesterone kits and subsequent confirmation using USG was carried out in five goats (4 synchronized females and mated and 1 naturally estrous female and mated naturally). All 5 female goats showed negative results following pregnancy diagnosis using the kits throughout the whole 5 days examinations. While diagnosis of pregnancy as confirmed by USG showed one goat (number 6) positive. It can be concluded that milk progesterone kits on dairy cows are less effective for diagnosing pregnancy on Etawah cross goat. The accuracy of the kits for pregnancy diagnosis of not-pregnant status is 80% after confirmation using USG.Key words: CIDR-G, Ettawah goats, milk progesterone kits, ultrasonography

Abstract

The study aims to determine the effect of diluent concentration Adromed® against the quality of spermatozoa of simeulue buffalo following freezing process. This study uses a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatment groups. Group 1  used AndroMed® diluent 15%; Group 2 with  AndroMed® 20%; and, Group 3 with AndroMed® 25%. Each group was repeated 3 times. Quality of spermatozoa assessed includes the motility and viability of spermatozoa. The data on the quality results  were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA)  in one direction followed by Duncant test. The average percentage of motility after freezing were found in the group P1, P2 and P3 respectively is 32.60 ± 3.27 %; 41.69 ± 4.14 %  and 47.58 ± 3.11%; spermatozoa viability is 36.56 ± 3.42%; 47.77 ± 4.81 % and 51.38 ± 3.89%. Statistical analysis showed that the concentration of diluent AndroMed® significantly affected (P 0.05) the motility and the percentage of live sperms. The percentage of live sperm motility and the live sperms did not differ significantly between G1 with G2 treatment groups and both are significantly different (P0.05) compared with group G3. AndroMed®  concentration affects the quality of simeulue buffalo spermatozoa after freezing. AndroMed® concentration of 20% and 25% were improved the quality of buffalalo spermatozoa following freezing compared with that with AndroMed® 15% .

Abstract

This study aims to determine the efficacy of jatropha curcas L. cream in the maturation phase of healing of mice leather injuries. This study used nine rats with 3 treatments, ie treatment group I smeared cream base (P1), treatment group II smeared 0.1% sulfadiazine cream (P2) and treatment group III smeared jatropha curcas 10% (P3). The result of ANAVA test of treatment I, treatment II and treatment III had significant effect (P 0,05) on fibroblast cells but each treatment group on collagen density level showed significant effect (P 0.01). Duncan test results on fibroblasts, P3 was significantly different (P 0.05) with P2 and P3, whereas the results on P3 collagen density were significantly different (P 0.01) with P2 and P1. The conclusion that 10% jatropha gum cream for 10 days can decrease the number of fibroblast cells and increase the amount of collagen thus accelerate the process of maturation phase of healing of mice leather injuries.

Abstract

The experiment was conducted to compare estrous performance between kacang and PE goats after estrous inducted with PGF2 alpha (PGF2α). Fifteen female goats were used in this study and divided into two groups. Characteristics of goat used are clinically healthy, never giving birth, 1,5-3,0 years of age, and have undergone at least two times the regular cycle. Group I (KI) consisted of 10 kacang goats and group II (KII) consisted of 5 PE goats. All goats in both groups were estrous synchronized with 1 ml PGF2a intramuscularly. Estrous observation was done visually three times a day at 8 a.m., 12 p.m., and 4 p.m. Assessment of estrous intensity based on scoring method. The data of intensity and onset were analyzed by Mann Whitney test and estrous duration analyzed by t test. The result showed that intensity, onset, and duration of estrous in KI vs KII were 2.47±0.21 vs 2.25±0.00, 38.20±2.39 vs 84.40±8.53 hours, and 40.40±2.27 vs 46.40±4.56 hours respectively. It concluded that there was different estrous performance between kacang and PE goats following estrous synchronized with PGF2α.

Abstract

Malacca plant (Phyllanthus emblica) is one of the medicinal plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of n-hexane extract of Malacca (Phyllanthus emblica) leaves on the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria in vivo. All mice were first induced by Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. Negative control (K1) was given aquadest, positive control (K2) was given ciproflaxacin suspension at doses of 20 mg/kg BW, while K3, K4, and K5 were given n-hexane extract of Malacca leave at dose of 100 mg/kg BW, 200 mg/kg BW, and 300 mg/kg BW. Respectively blood sampling was carried out on the 5th day after treatment. Data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed that the mean (± SD) number of bacterial colonies in K1 was 656x10² cfu/ml. The average number of bacterial colonies in K2 was 2328x10² cfu/ml. The average number of bacterial colonies given n-hexane extract of malacca leave 100 mg/kg BW on K3 was 359,60x10² cfu/ml. The average number of bacterial colonies given n-hexane extract of malacca leave 200 mg/kg BW at K4 was 200x10² cfu/ml and the average number of bacterial colonies given n-hexane extract of malacca leave 300 mg/kg BW at K5 was 3483x10² cfu/ml. The results showed there were no significant difference among treatment groups (P 0.05). N-hexane extract of malacca leave was unable to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria in vivo

Abstract

Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is one of the most important infectious diseases in cattle breeding. Bovine respiratory disease complex (BRDC) is a respiratory disease in mature and calf cattle which is a viral and bacterial superinfection including BVDV. The purpose of reseach is to study the role of BVDV in cases of Bovine respiratory disease complex (BRDC), especially with the characteristic of lesions were granulomatous pneumonia. The material in this study was lung tissue that was fixed with 10% formaldehyde buffer of calf sampel collected in October and November 2019. The sample is processed in a pathology laboratory for hematoxyline eosin (HE) staining and followed by immunohistochemical staining (IHC). A total of 11 lung samples sent from imported beef cattle and dairy cattle with a diagnosis of pneumonia complex morphology continued with CPI testing with monoclonal antibodies against bovine viral diarrhea virus. Nine samples showed positive CPI results against BVDV and two other samples were negative. Bovine viral diarrhea virus is detected in all granulomatous pneumonia, so it has an important role in BRDC. Early detection, treatment and prevention of BRDC affected or followed by BVDV must be carried out programmatically.
