Abstract

The utilization of rice husk as raw material on preparation of composite board could be used as alternative and cheap construction material. In this research, the composite board was prepared by mixing fined rice husk, recycledhigh density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic. Maleic Anhydride (MAH) was added ascompatibilizer. The objective of this research is to develop an alternative and a cheap technologyon fabrication of composite board by utilizing rice husk waste as filler and plastic from the type of recycled HDPE plastic as matrix. In order to improve the compactness of rice husk and recycled HDPE plastic thus the addition of MAH as compatibilizer is carried out. The research aspect learned is the MAH addition variation as much of 4% and 8% from HDPE plastic weight, and the mixing ratios of filler and matrix which are 30:70; 40:60; 50:50; 60:40; 70:30. Casting process of the homogonized solution was carried out at casting temperature of 145oC for 20 minutes. The research result obtained indicates that the value of composite board density has fulfilled standard of SNI 03-2105-1996. The maximum water adsorbtion is obtained on composition of filler and matrixof 60:40 where with the addition of MAH 4% and 8% they are 10,1% and 6.9%, respectively. The addition of MAH as much of4% and 8% has resulted composite board with tensile strength value that has fulfilled SNI standard. Whereas the addition of MAH as much of 8% could increase modulus of rapture value of composite board i. e. 82.5 85.2 kgf/cm2and they have fulfilled standard of SNI 03-2105-1996.Keywords: Composite board, Maleic Anhydride (MAH), Recycled HDPE plastic, Tensile Strength, modulus of rapture.

Abstract

Preparation of cellulose film from nata de pina, a product of pinapple fermentation, using acetobacter xylinum was done at room temperature for 15 days. The aim of the research is to investigate the effect of sugar concentration and pH on film quality. The fermentation run at sugar concentration of 0, 5, 7.5, 10 and 12.5% and at pH of 3, 5 and 7. Results show that the best nata de pina was obtained at sugar concentration of 10% and pH 5. At these conditions, maximum nata precipitates rendemen was 26,80%, with a moisture content of 80,55%, and the thickness of 3,30 cm. The product nata then can be used to produce cellulose film. The characteristic of the produced film were 8,20 Kgf/mm2 and 11,71% for maximum tensile strength and elongation, respectively.Keywords: acetobacter xylinum, film, nata de pina, selulosa

Abstract

Padi adalah komoditas utama di negara agraris seperti Indonesia, yang sebagian besar penduduknya mengandalkan beras sebagai makanan pokok. Pasca panen, produksi beras menghasilkan limbah sekam padi, yang biasanya dibakar atau dibuang ke sungai, menyebabkan pencemaran dan merusak habitat sungai. Selain itu, petani sering menghadapi masalah hama yang mengakibatkan kerugian besar. Program pengabdian masyarakat berbasis produk (PKMBP) masyarakat bagi kelompok tani di Desa Cot Mesjid, Aceh Besar bertujuan meningkatkan produksi padi dengan mengolah sekam padi menjadi pestisida organik melalui teknologi pirolisis. Kegiatan ini juga mencakup penyuluhan, pendidikan, dan pelatihan bagi petani untuk meningkatkan keterampilan mitra. Kegiatan pengabdian ini tidak hanya memberikan manfaat komersial tetapi juga mengurangi penggunaan pestisida kimia yang berbahaya bagi masyarakat dan ekosistem lainnya. Mitra telah beralih pada penggunaan pestisida organik hasil pirolisis sekam padi yang telah diproduksi. Dampak akhir dari pelaksanaan program ini adalah tumbuhnya jiwa kewirausahaan pada mitra serta peningkatan pendapatan yang pada akhirnya dapat meningkatkan taraf hidup mitra sasaran.

Abstract

Limbah jerami padi merupakan hasil samping pertanian yang melimpah di pedesaan dan selama ini belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Sebagian besar petani di Desa Tanjung Selamat, Kecamatan Darussalam, Kabupaten Aceh Besar, masih membakar jerami setelah panen, sehingga berpotensi mencemari lingkungan dan menghilangkan unsur hara penting bagi tanah. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat Gampong Tanjung Selamat dalam memanfaatkan jerami padi menjadi pupuk kompos organik sebagai upaya mendukung pertanian berkelanjutan. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi sosialisasi, pelatihan, dan demonstrasi pembuatan kompos dengan melibatkan 30 mahasiswa KKN dan masyarakat desa. Proses pembuatan kompos dilakukan menggunakan bahan jerami padi, kotoran sapi, sekam, dan dedak dengan penambahan bioaktivator Effective Microorganisms (EM-4) dan molase, kemudian difermentasi selama 21–28 hari. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat mampu memproduksi pupuk kompos secara mandiri dengan ciri fisik kompos matang, yaitu berwarna gelap, berbau tanah. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini juga meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pentingnya pengelolaan limbah pertanian yang ramah lingkungan, mengurangi ketergantungan pada pupuk kimia, serta membuka peluang usaha kecil berbasis produksi kompos desa. Kegiatan ini terbukti efektif sebagai model pemberdayaan masyarakat berbasis teknologi tepat guna dan mendukung pencapaian tujuan pembangunan berkelanjutan (SDGs) di bidang pertanian.

Abstract

Waste that is not managed properly in Neuheun Village, Aceh Besar Regency, can cause health and environment problems. Therefore, this service activity aims to provide the people of Neuheun village with the knowledge and skills of making organic fertilizer in a simple way. The fertilizer making is carried out through short training with raw materials that are reachable by the village community. The target of theses activities is housewives in the village, the majority of whom do not work and spend their time taking care of the household. Apart from filling the time, this activity can add insight, self-efficacy, and improve family health and economic life. These activities were attended by 20 housewives who are members of the recitation of the women of Neuheun Village. These activities take place through counseling and direct training stages. Counseling was provided through the distribution of reading materials and delivery of materials followed by the organic fertilizer making. The evaluation results show the enthusiasm of the participants in participating in the training, and they are able to make organic fertilizer. Making fertilizer is expected to be a side business and increase public knowledge about the benefits of organic fertilizers.
