Abstract

The purpose of this research  is to determine the velocity characteristics of fluid (fuel) flow in a pipe surrounded by a minimal magnetic (electromagnetic) field strength by using computational fluid dynamics simulations. For a more detailed discussion, Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) theory is used, which is a branch of science that studies fluid flow that can conduct electric current due to the influence of a magnetic (electromagnet) field. The fuel used is B0, B10, B20 and B30. The magnitude of the electromagnetic field used is 0.15 Tesla. the result is that the flow rate of B0 fuel has decreased by 0.623%. B10 fell to 0.41%. The B20 was down 0.618% and the B30 was down 0.648%. Thus the magnetic field strength of 0.15 Tesla is able to change the speed of the fuel flow even if only slightly. This information is needed as a basis for the development that the magnetic field is able to change the value of the flow velocity, this will provide information related to improving the quality of combustion and fuel savings in the future.

Abstract

The atomization process plays a very important role because the success or failure of combustion in the combustion chamber is influenced by the size of the liquid fuel mist. The occurrence of good atomization from atomized is determined by the size of the fuel droplets and the size of the nozzle diameter. Reducing the droplet diameter can increase the velocity, which can affect the Reynolds number and cause turbulence effects. The effect of turbulence provides a vortex effect, which enhances the heat transfer process between hot air and fuel particles in the combustion chamber. In this research, the effect of fuel magnetization on droplet size is analyzed. The fuel used is E0, E10, E20, E30, and E100, all types of fuel are channeled through an electromagnetic field of 1500 Gauss. Next, the particle size was tested using a Particle Size Analyzer, Bettersize BeNano 90 Zeta. The result was a decrease in particle size of 8-27%. The particle size measured using the PSA (particle size analysis) tool and theoretical calculations is <10% different. Each tool has an accuracy limit for PSA with a maximum accuracy of around 5%. These results provide initial information that the fuel magnetization process can improve engine performance.

Abstract

Abstract

The increasing demand for fuel efficiency and environmental sustainability has led to the exploration of alternative fuel blends and innovative fuel-saving technologies. This study investigates the effect of an electromagnetic fuel-saving device on the performance of a motorcycle using a Pertalite-Bioethanol fuel blend at different compositions (P100, P90, P80, and P70). The engine's performance was evaluated based on Maximum Torque, Brake Horse Power (BHP), and Specific Fuel Consumption (SFC) using a chassis dynamometer test. The results show that the use of the electromagnetic fuel-saving device significantly improves motorcycle performance. The highest torque was recorded at P80, reaching 13.52 Nm with the device, compared to 12.7 Nm without the device. Similarly, BHP at P80 increased from 7.45 HP (without device) to 9.89 HP (with device), indicating enhanced combustion efficiency. Additionally, SFC was lower when using the device, with the lowest fuel consumption observed at P80 (0.025 kg/HP·h with the device), compared to 0.029 kg/HP·h without it. These findings suggest that a 20% bioethanol blend (P80) provides an optimal balance of power, torque, and fuel efficiency, particularly when combined with electromagnetic fuel treatment. However, at higher bioethanol concentrations (P70), performance slightly declined, likely due to the lower energy content of ethanol compared to gasoline. The improvement in efficiency with the electromagnetic device is attributed to the enhanced dispersion of hydrocarbon molecules, leading to better combustion. The electromagnetic fuel-saving device effectively enhances engine performance and fuel efficiency, particularly when paired with a 20% bioethanol blend. This study provides valuable insights into the potential of alternative fuel treatments in improving combustion efficiency and sustainability. Future research could focus on long-term durability, emissions analysis, and further optimization of bioethanol fuel blends for improved engine performance. Keywords: Electromagnetic fuel-saving device, Pertalite-Bioethanol blend, Motorcycle performance, Fuel efficiency.
