Abstract

Demand for local chicken meat continues to increase in line with population growth and changes in people's consumption patterns. This research was conducted to determine consumer preferences based on the attributes attached to local chicken meat and consumer attitudes towards local chicken meat. The research location was carried out at a food outlet that sells processed local chicken meat in the Greater Bandung area. Primary data was obtained from interviews with 35 local chicken meat sellers (as respondents). The analysis method used is the Chocran Q Test to determine what attributes are considered valid, Chi Square Analysis to determine preferences and Fishben Multiattribute Analysis to determine consumer attitudes towards local chicken meat. The results of the research show that the valid attributes are meat color, tenderness, freshness, cleanliness, aroma, chicken weight, price and location of purchase. The local chicken meat that consumers like and choose is meat that is pale white, slightly yellowish in color, has a distinctive chicken aroma, is free from shoot feathers, has a slightly tough texture and is medium in size with a price in the range of IDR 50,000 - IDR 65,000/kilogram purchased from local chicken farmer. An assessment of consumer attitudes towards purchasing local chicken meat shows that consumers have a "very positive" attitude towards purchasing local chicken meat.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of product quality and price on consumer loyalty through purchasing decisions about local chicken at the Simpang Dago Traditional Market, Bandung City. The population in this study was taken from all buyers at Simpang Dago Market, Bandung City with a total sample of 96 people. Sampling was carried out using a nonprobability sampling method with a purposive technique and had criteria, namely consumers who had bought local chicken at Simpang Dago Market, Bandung City at least once. This research method uses quantitative descriptive research with a survey method using interview techniques with a research instrument in the form of a questionnaire. Data analysis techniques used include instrument tests, namely validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, namely normality tests, multicollinearity tests, and heteroscedasticity tests, path analysis, and hypothesis testing using the coefficient of determination test, f test, t test, and Sobel test. The research results show that product quality has a direct effect on purchasing decisions by 0.211 and product price has a direct effect on purchasing decisions by 0.054. Product price has a direct effect on consumer loyalty of 0.360 and product quality has no effect on consumer loyalty, while product quality and product price have an indirect effect on consumer loyalty through purchasing decisions of 0.210. This means that purchasing decisions can mediate the relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable.

Abstract

The livestock industry has great potential in Indonesia, especially the local chicken industry. West Java Province has a large local chicken population, driven by the increasing consumption of local chicken meat which is considered to have a unique flavour. Consumers tend to buy local chicken meat in traditional markets and consider product attributes to suit their preferences. This study aims to determine the attributes that are the main considerations of consumers, as well as their preferences and attitudes towards purchasing local chicken meat. A survey method with a quantitative approach was used in this study. The research was conducted at Caringin Market in Bandung City with the participation of 50 consumers who bought local chicken meat at that location. Data analysis used Chi Square analysis and Fishbein's Multiatribut analysis. The results show that there are differences in consumer preferences for the attributes of local chicken meat. Preferred local chicken meat has a fresh white ‘slightly’ yellowish colour, tender texture, fresh condition, meat free from feather buds, and has a fresh aroma typical of chicken meat. The attributes of local chicken meat from most considered to least considered are freshness, aroma, colour, cleanliness, and texture of the meat, respectively. Respondents' level of liking and attitude assessment showed “Like” and “Very Good”.

Abstract

Traditional markets are one place to sell local chicken meat. Every seller must have a strategy for selling their merchandise to customers in order to be superior to other sellers. One strategy used by sellers is to improve the service quality provided to customers. The aim of this study is to analyze the influence of the service quality on customer’s purchase decision for local chicken meat in Bandung City Traditional Market. The research method is using a survey method with a quantitative approach. The sampling technique in this study is using accidental sampling method by determining the number of samples using the Lameshow formula, totaling 100 people. Data collection was carried out in October – November. The data analysis technique is using simple linear regression analysis. The results show that the service quality variable is in the high category with a percentage of 98% and the purchase decision variable is in the high category with a percentage of 89%. This study shows that seller service quality has a positive and significant influence on customer’s purchase decision for local chicken meat in Bandung City Traditional Market.

Abstract

Duck farming is a poultry commodity that has potential to be developed. This is supported by the ability of ducks as livestock that produce eggs and meat, so they can meet food needs for animal protein sources. It is hoped that the duck farming business will not only be a side business, but also a profitable business activity. Indramayu Regency was chosen deliberately, because it has one of the potentials for developing ducks. The criteria for testing the efficiency of a duck farming business are: R/C Ratio for a duck farming business > 1, so the business is efficient; R/C Ratio of duck farming business = 1, then the business is not efficient; The R/C Ratio for a duck farming business is <1, so the business is inefficient. The average value of economic efficiency (R/C Ratio) in duck farming businesses in Sindang District is 1.22. The average annual income of duck breeders is IDR 32,522,175. This income is obtained from the difference between the total income from the duck farming business and the costs used during the production process. The level of potential for development of the duck farming business in Sindang sub-district by evaluating the general conditions in Sindang sub-district. Based on calculations, a total internal factor score of 3.308 was obtained and a total external factor score of 3.263.

Abstract

The success indicators for the hatchery program in the management of sentul chicken breeding at the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) of the Poultry Breeding Development Center (BPPTU) in Jatiwangi are fertility, hatchability, and salable chicks. UPTD BPPTU Jatiwangi is an institution responsible for the development and improvement of local poultry breeds under the supervision of the Department of Food Security and Animal Husbandry (DKPP) of West Java Province. This research aims to determine the fertility, hatchability, and production of salable chicks from Sentul chickens at BPPTU Jatiwangi. The analysis method used is observation, and the data obtained are analyzed using descriptive statistics. The research was conducted as a case study, using both primary and secondary data. The incubated eggs used had a weight of 41-55 grams and were obtained from UPTD BPPTU Jatiwangi with a male-to-female ratio of 1:5. The observed parameters were fertility, hatchability, and salable chicks. The research results showed an average fertility of 81.62±1.34% with a coefficient of variation of 1.64%, hatchability of 74.64±4.94% with a coefficient of variation of 6.61%, and salable chicks of 96.4±1.65% with a coefficient of variation of 1.71%.

Abstract

Chicken meat, including that from local chickens, is widely consumed by Indonesians. One of the markets where local chicken is purchased in Bandung City is the Gedebage Traditional Market. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of consumer attitudes on purchasing decisions for local chicken at the Gedebage Traditional Market. The research method used is a survey with a quantitative data analysis approach. The research was conducted on March 10 - April 10, 2024, at the Gedebage Traditional Market, Bandung, West Java. Respondents in this study were local chicken buyers who were taken by accidental sampling technique, totaling 97 respondents. The analysis method used is simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that consumer attitudes belonged to the high category with a total percentage of 57.7% and purchasing decisions belonged to the high category with a total percentage of 58.8%. Consumer attitudes have a real influence on purchasing decisions for local chicken, with a regression coefficient value of 0.313. The effect of the independent variable (consumer attitude) on the dependent variable (purchase decision) is 78%, while the remaining 22% is influenced by other variables that are not included in the regression model.

Abstract

This study analyzes efficiency and break even point to provide an overview of sheep farming in Sukawangi Village, Pamulihan Subdistrict, Sumedang Regency in July 2023. The aims of this study is to count total production cost, find out farmer’s income, and analyze the eficiency and break even point of sheep farming. The method used was a survey by interviewing 88 farmers using simple random sampling. Based on the results of the study, it showed that the total production costs for sheep farming in Sukawangi Village are IDR 27,432,069/unit enterprises/year, and the income is IDR 3,055,431/unit enterprises/year. The efficiency value of the sheep farming business in Sukawangi Village is 1.11 which means that the business is efficient and profitable. The production break event point value is 3 heads adult sheep equivalent, smaller than actual sales which is 6 heads  adult sheep equivalent, while the price break event value is IDR 4,238,845/unit enterprises/year, smaller than the actual sales price, which is IDR 4,710,975/unit enterprises/year.
