Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out the ability, different abilities, and constraints encountered by English teachers at rural and urban areas in developing syllabus and lesson plan at Kolaka district. The study used the ex post facto method and a mixed method. Subjects of the study were all senior high school teachers of English in Kolaka district who had become civil servants. The syllabus and lesson plan were developed using KTSP curriculum. The study analyzed data quantitatively and qualitatively. Results of the study showed that the ability of the teachers in developing syllabus was 95%, or within a category of “very good,” whereas their ability in developing lesson plan was 83%., which was categorized as “good.” To look into the difference between rural teachers’ ability and urban teachers’ ability, a quantitative analysis was performed, and the result showed that, as far as the ability to develop syllabus and lesson was concerned, there was no difference between rural and urban teachers. To analyze constraints commonly encountered by these teachers, interviews were conducted, and the results suggested that there were some internal and external factors associated with this particular issue. It could be concluded that both urban and rural teachers were equally able to produce well-developed syllabus and lesson plan.

Abstract

This paper presents a research to examine whether or there is any significant difference of reading comprehension between low and high vocabulary a chievers taught using CTL approach and those taught using traditional approach, and To describe  the students’ perception toward the use of contextual teaching and learning approach. . The participants consisted of 62 students with high and low vocabulary kowleadge  . The participants were divided into an experimental group (n = 33) and a control group (n = 29). The the research employed a mixed method (quantititative and qualitative). Standardized reading test and inferential statistical analysis were employed to measure the difference of reading comprehension between students using CTL approac and traditional approach. Then semi structured inteview and intra case analysis were performed to describe students perception toward the use of CTL approach. Results showed that : (1) there is no sigrnificant difference of reading comprehension between low achievers taught using CTL approach and those taught using traditional approach; (2) there is a significant differnce of reading comprehension between high achievers taughtt using CTL approach and those taught using traditional approach; (3) in general, the use of CTL approach in teaching reading was perceived positively by students. The impacts of using this approach were noticeable on the emergence of students’ fun and motivation to learn reading. However the use of this approach was not affective enough to improve the reading comprehension of students with limited vocabularies.

Abstract

Teaching reading by using Flipped learning is rarely-researched in field of education especially in Indonesia. This study was conducted to find out the improvement of second year students’ reading comprehension, motivation and engagement after they were taught using Flipped classroom at SMA Kartika Kendari. The study was designed to employ a mixed method. The total number of the participants was 60, which were grouped into two classes, namely an experimental class and a control class. To draw samples, the researcher used random sampling technique. Instrument used to collect data were a reading comprehension test, a questionnaire of motivation, a questionnaire of students’ engagement and an interview script to acquire qualitative data. The reading test consisted of 13 multiple choice items. The questionnaire of motivation consisted of 17 close-ended items and there were 16 statements used in the questionnaire of students’ engagement. Additionally, descriptive statistic and t analysis were performed to obtain quantitative data. Results of post test showed that there was an improvement in the students’ reading comprehension after they were taught using Flipped classroom. Besides, the students’ motivation also increased and so was their engagement after they were taught using Flipped classroom. In addition, qualitative data indicated data that the students enjoyed and had a high willingness to participate in the learning process especially when they were watching videos and doing assignment.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui : 1) Strategi pembelajaran Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan; 2) Faktor-faktor apa saja yang menghambat    pembelajaran Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan; 3) Upaya apa saja yang dilakukan pihak sekolah dan guru Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan dalam mengatasi hambatan pembelajaran Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data Menggunakan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Sedangkan analisis data menggunakan tiga tahapan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi pembelajaran PPKn di SMP Negeri 1 Kendari sudah baik, meskipun dalam beberapa aspek masih mengalami hambatan. Hambatan yang paling mendasar dalam strategi pembelajaran PPKn tersebut antara lain ; Tujuan Pembelajaran, Materi Pembelajaran, Siswa, Fasilitas, Waktu, Guru.   Hal ini antara lain kemampuan guru dalam menggunakan media pembelajaran yang  berbasis IT masih belum maksimal. Untuk mengatasi hambatan terhadap Pembelajaran PPKn Di SMP Negeri 1 Kendari terus meningkatkan diri kompetensi, terutama    kompetensi pedagogik dan profesional. Khusus kompetensi pedagogik yang sangat dibutuhkan oleh guru PPKn tersebut berkaitan dengan penguasaan dan pemahaman mengenai model dan metode pembelajaran dan penggunaan media pembelajaran.Kata Kunci: Strategi, Pembelajaran, Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian  ini  bertujuan untuk  menganalisis: 1) perencanaan Prakerin, 2) pelaksanaan  Prakerin, 3) evaluasi Prakerin, dan 4) efektivitas Pelaksanaan   Prakerin  di  SMK  Negeri  2 Konawe Selatan, Kecamatan Andoolo, Kabupaten Konawe Selatan.  Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil  penelitian  menunjukkan  sebagai  berikut: 1) perencanaan Prakerin  dilaksanakan  setiap  awal  tahun  ajaran,  yang dimulai  dari   pemetaan industri,  program prakerin, waktu prakerin, pembekalan prakerin, dan penetapan guru pembimbing;  2) pelaksanaan Prakerin di SMK Negeri 2 Konawe Selatan adalah di semester 5 kelas XII (dua belas), dengan minimal 1 bulan dan maksimal 3 bulan. Siswa/i Keahlian Teknik Komputer dan Jaringan SMK Negeri 2 Konawe Selatan mengikuti Prakerin selama 3 bulan. Pelaksanaan Prakerin di SMK  Negeri 2  Konawe Selatan  terdapat  beberapa kegiatan, yaitu Pengorganisasian,  penyerahan  siswa  Prakerin ke Industri, monitoring Siswa Prakerin dan Penarikan  Siswa Prakerin ke Sekolah; 3) evaluasi  Prakerin  di  SMK  Negeri  2  Konawe Selatan,  dilakukan  dengan  menganalisis hasil laporan peserta  didik  dan  hasil  penilaian  yang  dilakukan  oleh  pembimbing  dari  dunia  kerja, pemaparan  hasil prakerin siswa, dan Uji kompetensi, serta dinilai hasil kerjanya.  Kemudian dianalisis  untuk  mengetahui  tingkat  pencapaian  sasaran  Prakerin; 4) efektivitas pelaksanaan Prakerin yaitu, mengumpulkan data-data  terlebih  dahulu. Data-data  yang  dikumpulkan  terkait  pelaksanaan siswa/i Prakerin keahlian Teknik Komputer dan Jaringan yaitu, hasil monitoring yang sudah direkap, pelaksanaan ujian kompetensi di sekolah, dan penilaian dari pihak Dunia Usaha dan Dunia Industri (DUDI).Kata kunci: Praktik Kerja Industri, DUDI, TKJ, SMK

Abstract

This research is accomplished to investigate how effective is virtual world instructional mode for teaching and learning writing for EFL learners. The researcher used quantitative data to investigate the effectiveness of using Avakin Life as a substitution class to the regular writing course for the EFL learners. Two research questions then were settled. The first question asked to what extent the virtual classroom instruction helps foreign language English writer increase their proficiency. The second question was intended to measure the degree of participants’ Sense of Community. This participants of this study where the students of English teaching study program of Halu Oleo University who registered in academic year of 2010/2011. The total number of participants involved was 10. In taking sample, the researcher used Convenient Sampling. The instruments of data collection were writing test and a questionnaire. The writing test were administered by assigning pre-test to know students prior knowledge, and post-test to know students writing achievement after giving treatment. The questionnaire was settled into 22 items for Sense of Community. Paired sample t-test was employed to seek the different mean of each group as the comparison before and after receiving the course. The result shows a significant difference between the pre and post of writing proficiency of the treatment class. In addition, the result from the post-instruction questionnaire shows that the participants’ had a high degree on their Sense of Community after being taught writing under the virtual world instructional mode

Abstract

The main objective of this study was to analysis the quality of the test used involving the content validity, reliability, level of difficulty, and discrimination power. It Studied the quality of the English test, Especially English final test used for the first semester students’ at the first, second, and the third grade of SMAN 1 Amonggedo in academic year of 2017/2018. The source of the data in this study was the student’s answer sheet of first, second, and third grade of SMAN 1 Amonggedo. The total answer sheets of the students were 178.  In analyzing the data, the researcher used a formula to analyzed content validity and also used SPSS 16 program to measure the reliability, level of difficulty, and discrimination power. The result of the content validity analysis of the test in the three levels with two classes in each level showed that all of tests were fulfill the criteria of a good test because its representative from the syllabus. Second, the finding of reliability analysis showed that almost all items of test were valid. Indeed all of test has very high reliability because the number value of reliability 0, 70 < r11  ≤ 1. The level of difficulty analysis showed that 72, 5 % in the level of medium and only 27, 5% in the level of easy. Discrimination power analysis of the test had a good discrimination, with the number of percentage 46%. It also showed that 8,3% in  poor discrimination, 13,3% in the level of sufficient, 26,6% had very good or excellent discrimination, but there was also 5,8% item skipped.

Abstract

The use of videos in education makes it possible to overcome practical real-world constraints and explore far greater possibilities provided by digital spaces, especially for the video uploaded in online platform such as blog. This study examines whether online video blog as media have a significant effect on students’ achievement of passive voice. It used pre-experimental (one group pre-test and post-test) design. The samples of this study were 10 students at 4J Operation. A pre-test and post-test were conducted by using multiple choice questions as the instruments. Data analysis was through paired-sample t-test. Results showed that there was an increase in mean score of pre-test (49,1) and post-test (63,5). Data from Paired Sample t-test showed that Sig. (2-tailed) was 0.000 which was smaller than .05 which means that there was significance difference in mean score after employing treatment.

Abstract

This research was accomplished to find out the Educational Values which were consisted in Freedom Writers movie and provide detail information about the educational value of the movie. The problem of this research was what is the educational value in the Freedom Writers movie. The objective of the research was to describe and analyze the educational values in the “Freedom Writers” movie. The data sources were collected from the script of the movie that was written by Richard Lagravenese. The researcher used qualitative analysis as her research design. The source of data can be divided into two kinds: primary and secondary data. The primary data sources were the script movie of “Freedom writers” Movie that was written by Richard LaGravenes and set in 2007. The secondary data was “Freedom Writers” movie. The researcher collected the data by doing some underlining of the script which was related to educational value and then making a classification of data. In analyzing the data, there are some procedures as follows: firstly: the researcher was familiar with the data through read the whole material as the first activity, secondly coding and reducing process and thirdly, Interpretation and representing, In this technique, the writer tried to understand the meaning of the sentences or words that related to the educational values. When interpretation was on process, the researcher also concluded the data based on the code that has been given in order to answer the problem statement. This research also used descriptive analysis in analyzing the educational value to report clear information. The result confirmed that there were four value of being and five value of giving namely honesty, bravery, peace, confidence, loyalty, respect, love, and affection, kind and friendly and fair which had been found by the researcher. It was recommended to the next researcher who wants to conduct some research to found out more value which might be the weakness of this research.

Abstract

This study was aimed to develop a Telegram-based Listening and Speaking learning materials for high school students in form of a chatbot. This study was used Educational Research and Development model. The subjects of the study were the X Accountant 2 students of Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Negeri 1 Kendari. The procedure was adapted from ADDIE model proposed by Taylor (2004) which consist of analyzing the students’ needs, designing the media flowchart, developing the media, evaluating the media, and finalizing the media. The instruments used to collect the data were needs analysis questionnaire and expert judgment questionnaire. This study developed a Telegram Bot for Listening and Speaking materials which was based in the teacher module given by the school. Based on the research findings from the expert judgment, the interactive multimedia is appropriate for students since the means score for content and media aspects were above 3,4 which were categorized as “Good”.
