Abstract

This research was motivated by low student learning outcomes, which were attributed to a monotonous classroom atmosphere and unengaging teaching methods. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of implementing ice breaking and giving rewards on student learning outcomes in the Economics subject at SMA Negeri 9 Tasikmalaya. This study employed a quantitative method with a descriptive survey approach. The instrument used was a questionnaire with a Likert scale. The sample for this study consisted of students from grades X and XI of the Social Sciences department. The data analysis results indicate that both ice breaking and reward giving have a significant effect on student learning outcomes, both partially and simultaneously. Simultaneously, the contribution of these two variables to learning outcomes reached 52.4%. This finding confirms that a teacher's creativity in applying enjoyable learning strategies, such as ice breaking and rewards, can enhance both student motivation and learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research was prompted by the low critical thinking skills and self-confidence observed among students at SMAN 6 Tasikmalaya. The study aimed to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students' critical thinking skills and self-confidence in the economics subject, specifically on the concept of international trade. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a post-test-only control group design. Data were collected through essay tests and questionnaires. The population for this research consisted of all 198 eleventh-grade social science (XI IPS) students at SMAN 6 Tasikmalaya during the 2023/2024 academic year. The sample included 39 students from class XI IPS 4 as the experimental group and 39 students from class XI IPS 5 as the control group, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The results of the study conclude that the Problem-Based Learning model has a significant influence on students' critical thinking skills and self-confidence.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and identify the influence of parents' income and education level on the interest of twelfth-grade students at SMA Muhammadiyah Singaparna in continuing their studies to higher education. The research method used is an explanatory design. The sampling technique was saturated sampling, resulting in 97 respondents. Data was collected using a closed questionnaire, and the data analysis techniques included the normality test, linearity test, multicollinearity test, heteroscedasticity test, multiple linear regression analysis, the coefficient of determination (R²) test, t-test, and F-test. The results showed that: 1) There is an influence of income on the interest in continuing studies to higher education, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. 2) There is an influence of the parents' education level on the interest in continuing studies to higher education, with a significance value of 0.005 < 0.05. 3) There is a simultaneous influence of parents' income and education level on the interest in continuing studies to higher education, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of AI chatbot usage on the critical thinking skills of eleventh-grade students at State Senior High School 6 Tasikmalaya. This study employed a quantitative method with a survey design. The population consisted of all 118 eleventh-grade students, using a saturated sampling technique. The research instruments included a Likert scale questionnaire for the AI chatbot usage variable and an essay test for the critical thinking skills variable. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression with the aid of SPSS 25. The results showed a significant effect of AI chatbot usage on students' critical thinking skills, with a calculated F-value of 122.268 > F-table of 3.92 and a significance of 0.000 < 0.05. The calculation of the Interval Tier Value (NJI) indicated that students' critical thinking skills were in the high category with a total score of 8,846. The highest indicator was 'simple explanation' (21.32%), while the lowest was 'further explanation' (17.17%). In conclusion, the use of AI chatbots positively contributes to the enhancement of students' critical thinking skills in economics learning.

Abstract

The research conducted at SMAN 6 Tasikmalaya was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in economic subjects by comparing the Number Head Together learning model with the Teams Games Tournament learning model in class XI IPS SMAN 6 Tasikmalaya in the 2023/2024 school year. The method used used quasi-experimental method with Nonequivalent Multiple Group Design. The population used in the study were all students of class XI IPS which amounted to 197 students. While the sample used for the first experimental class was class XI IPS 3 with a total of 39 students and used the Number Head Together learning model, while the sample used for the second experimental class was class XI IPS 4 with a total of 40 students and used the Teams Games Tornament learning model with sampling using Nonprobability Sammpling. Based on the results of the study explained that there was an increase in student learning outcomes using the Number Head Together learning model on international trade material, the average posttest value obtained by students was superior compared to the posttest value obtained through the Teams Games Tournament learning model, thus it can be concluded that in this study the Number Head Together learning model can improve student learning outcomes. Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of impulse buying behavior that occurs in students majoring in Economics Education at Siliwangi University Class of 2020-2022 in Tasikmalaya. The aim is to determine the effect of peer conformity and money availability on student impulse buying through self-control as an intervening variable. The method used is a quantitative approach with a survey method, with an explanatory research design, and the data collection technique uses data with a questionnaire (questionnaire). The population in this study were students majoring in Economic Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Siliwangi University, Class of 2020-2022 with a total of 364 people. The sample obtained for the 2020 batch amounted to 61 people, the 2021 batch amounted to 57 people and the 2022 batch amounted to 73 people, so the total sample was 191 people. Sampling in this study used probability sampling techniques, namely proportionate stratified random sampling techniques. The results showed that peer conformity and money availability each have a direct influence on self-control with a significance value (0.000 <0.05). Furthermore, peer conformity has no direct effect on impulse buying with a significance value (0.615> 0.05), while money availability has a direct effect on impulse buying with a significance value (0.000 < 0.05) Then other results were obtained that self control had an effect on impulse buying with a significance value (0.004 < 0.05). Based on the Path Analysis test, it shows that peer conformity affects impulse buying through self control and money availability affects impulse buying through self control.

Abstract

The problem in this study is the low critical thinking skills possessed by students in economic subjects. This study aims to determine the effect of emotional intelligence and self-regulated learning in developing students' critical thinking skills in economics subjects. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The study population amounted to 178 students with a sample size of 123 students in class XI IPS SMA Negeri 1 Ciamis in the 2024/2025 school year, with sampling using proportionate sampling technique. The results showed that: (1) emotional intelligence has a positive and significant effect on critical thinking skills; (2) self-regulated learning has a positive and significant effect on critical thinking skills; (3) emotional intelligence and self-regulated learning simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on critical thinking skills by obtaining a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.672. This means that the contribution of the independent variables to critical thinking skills is 67.2% and the remaining 32.8% is influenced by other variables outside this study.

Abstract

This study is based on the phenomenon of low cognitive ability scores in economics subjects in grade XI at SMAN 1 Jatiwaras. The purpose of this study is to determine the difference in the improvement of cognitive ability in students who apply the discovery learning model aided by a jeopardy game compared to the conventional model aided by PowerPoint. Using an experimental method that employs a quasi-experimental design of the nonequivalent control group type, two classes were obtained as samples with 34 students each based on purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique was by observation using a cognitive ability test instrument in the form of multiple choice questions. The results of this study indicate that there is a difference in the improvement of students' cognitive abilities through the discovery learning model aided by jeopardy games with the conventional model aided by PowerPoint based on a significance of 0.001, which means that the hypothesis is accepted. However, the class that applied the conventional model with the help of PowerPoint was seen to be superior because it was the class with the highest cognitive ability scores in economics, even though the class that applied the discovery learning model with the help of jeopardy games experienced a higher increase in cognitive ability based on the scores before and after being given treatment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of self-concept, independent learning, and family environment on the learning motivation of high school students. This study uses a quantitative method with a survey approach. The research sample consisted of 207 tenth grade students from SMA Negeri 5 Tasikmalaya who were selected using the proportionate random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS 26. The regression test results show that self-concept and independent learning have a positive and significant effect on learning motivation, with significance values of 0.004 and 0.000, respectively. The family environment also has a significant effect with a sig value of 0.000. The F test shows that the three independent variables simultaneously have a significant effect on learning motivation (sig = 0.000). The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.599 indicates that 59.9% of the variation in learning motivation can be explained by the three variables. These findings confirm that internal and external factors play an important role in increasing students' learning motivation. Therefore, educators and parents need to provide optimal support to create a conducive learning environment.

Abstract

The main problem in this study is the low student learning outcomes which are thought to be influenced by learning readiness and learning interest factors. This study aims to analyze the effect of learning readiness and interest in learning on student learning outcomes in Economics subjects in class XI of SMA Negeri 7 Tasikmalaya in the 2024/2025 school year. This research uses quantitative methods with a survey approach. The data collection technique was carried out through distributing questionnaires to students in class XI Social Economics of SMA Negeri 7 Tasikmalaya in the 2024/2025 school year with a total of 186 students selected through purposive sampling technique, and data analysis using multiple linear regression. The results showed that learning readiness and interest in learning had a significant effect on learning outcomes, both partially and simultaneously. The higher the learning readiness and interest in learning of students, the better the learning outcomes obtained. Therefore, it is recommended for schools and educators to improve learning readiness and motivate students' interest in learning through more innovative and interactive learning strategies. Future research can develop this research by considering other factors that contribute to student learning outcomes.
