Abstract

The caffeine assay can be developed by using sensitive reagents for caffeine detection, such as sodium periodate (NaIO4), acetic acid (CH3COOH), and 3-methyl-2-benzothiazolinone hydrazone (MBTH) inside 96-microwell plate. The addition of caffeine solution could change the color of the reagent from white to deep blue which can be then scanned and quantified by a flatbed scanner and the color image analysis program, known as the scanometric method. Analytical characterization such as linearity, LOD, LOQ, precision, accuracy, and stability of the developed method was established by using caffeine standard. The result of caffeine analysis using the developed method agreed with that of the spectrophotometric method, suggesting that the developed method can be used as an alternative method for caffeine assay in pharmaceutical preparations.

Abstract

Stunting is a health problem currently the government's primary concern because it affects the quality of human resources. One of the areas that is still being targeted for handling stunting is Maskuning Wetan Village, Pujer District, Bondowoso Regency, East Java, with 14.36% of stunting cases. Diet, including the food type, is important in managing stunting. Most mothers in this area have lack knowledge in healthy food processing. Therefore, in this service program, several steps to handle stunting related to healthy food processing were carried out through counselling and training activities. The main ingredient used is the Moringa plant, which is known in many countries to overcome malnutrition because it is rich in nutrients, obtained easily, and affordable. The activity program is hoped to support the government's efforts in reducing the prevalence of stunting in Maskuning Wetan Village.           Keywords: healthy food; moringa; stunting  Abstrak: Stunting merupakan masalah kesehatan yang menjadi perhatian utama pemerintah hingga saat ini karena berpengaruh pada kualitas sumber daya manusia. Salah satu daerah yang masih menjadi sasaran penanganan stunting adalah Desa Maskuning Wetan, Kecamatan Pujer, Kabupaten Bondowoso, Jawa Timur dengan kasus stunting sebanyak 14,36%. Pola makan termasuk jenis makanan berperan penting dalam penanganan stunting. Sebagian besar ibu di daerah tersebut masih banyak yang belum mengetahui cara pengolahan makanan sehat. Oleh karena itu, pada program pengabdian ini dilakukan beberapa langkah penanganan stunting terkait pengolahan makanan sehat berupa kegiatan penyuluhan dan pelatihan. Bahan utama yang digunakan adalah tanaman kelor yang telah dikenal di berbagai negara untuk mengatasi malnutrisi karena kaya akan kandungan nutrisi, mudah diperoleh, dan terjangkau. Dengan adanya program kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat mendukung upaya pemerintah dalam menurunkan prevalensi stunting di Desa Maskuning Wetan.Kata kunci: kelor; makanan sehat; stunting

Abstract

The level of health significantly influences the quality of human resources. The family, being the most basic unit of society, has a significant impact on enhancing health outcomes. A mother is suitable for this role, as she is responsible for caring for the entire family. Kader PKK (members of the Family Welfare Movement, a community-based women's organization in Indonesia) of RW 04 in Badean Village, Bondowoso District, Bondowoso Regency has an opportunity to enhance their potential through women's empowerment. The distribution of educational and economic levels among people in RW 04, Badean Subdistrict, is uneven, resulting in a disparity in their health status as well. This service activity focuses on empowering women through the implementation of the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method. The aim is to enhance the quality of community health by conducting counseling and training on preparing nutritious food using Moringa leaves, which are readily accessible to the population. This service activity has enhanced the knowledge and skills of Kader PKK of RW 04 in processing nutritious meals. They can also disseminate the knowledge they have acquired to mothers in their surroundings, thus improving the effectiveness of initiatives to empower women in the healthcare sector.     Keywords: Counseling and training; nutritious meals; kader PKK Abstrak: Salah faktor yang berperan besar terhadap kualitas sumber daya manusia adalah tingkat kesehatan. Keluarga sebagai kelompok sosial terkecil dalam masyarakat memegang peran penting dalam perbaikan status kesehatan. Peran ini dapat dipegang oleh seorang ibu karena ibulah yang bertugas merawat seluruh keluarga. Salah satu kelompok yang berpeluang dikembangkan potensinya melalui pemberdayaan wanita adalah kader PKK (Pembinaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga) RW 04 Kelurahan Badean Kecamatan Bondowoso Kabupaten Bondowoso. Tingkat pendidikan dan perekonomian warga di lingkungan RW 04 Kelurahan Badean tidak merata, sehingga status kesehatannya juga belum merata. Pada kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan upaya pemberdayaan perempuan menggunakan metode PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal) berupa upaya peningkatan kualitas kesehatan masyarakat melalui kegiatan penyuluhan dan pelatihan pembuatan makanan bergizi berbasis daun kelor yang mudah didapat di sekitar lingkungan warga. Dengan adanya kegiatan pengabdian ini pengetahuan dan keterampilan kader PKK RW 04 mengenai pengolahan makanan bergizi menjadi meningkat. Para kader juga dapat menyampaikan ilmu yang diperolehnya kepada para ibu di lingkungannya, sehingga upaya pemberdayaan perempuan dalam bidang kesehatan menjadi lebih optimal.Kata kunci: Penyuluhan dan pelatihan; makanan bergizi; kader PKK

Abstract

Sensor kimia berbasis kertas adalah piranti analisis yang menggunakan membran berpori berupa kertas untuk imobilisasi reagen kimia dan deteksi analit pada sampel volume kecil (μL – nL). Sensor kimia flavonoid total dikembangkan dengan cara melakukan ko-imobilisasi larutan aluminium klorida (AlCl3), natrium nitrit (NaNO2), dan natrium hidroksida (NaOH) pada kertas menggunakan teknik adsorpsi. Penambahan larutan kuersetin dapat mengubah warna sensor dari putih menjadi kuning yang kemudian dapat ditangkap dan dikuantifikasi dengan program ImageJ, yang dikenal sebagai teknik skanometri. Karakterisasi analitik seperti linearitas, Limit of Detection (LOD), Limit of Quantification (LOQ), presisi dan akurasi sensor dilakukan dengan menggunakan standar kuersetin. Hasil penentuan kadar flavonoid total sampel daun jambu biji menggunakan metode sensor kimia-skanometri menunjukkan kesesuaian dengan metode spektrofotometri, sehingga memiliki potensi sebagai metode alternatif untuk penentuan kadar flavonoid total.Development of Paper-Based Chemical Sensor for Determining The Total Flavonoid Content in Guava Leaf Extract. Paper-based chemical sensors are analytical devices that utilize porous paper membranes for reagent immobilization and analyte detection in small sample volumes (μL – nL). The total flavonoid chemical sensor was developed by co-immobilizing aluminum chloride (AlCl3), sodium nitrite (NaNO2), and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solutions onto paper by using the adsorption technique. The introduction of a quercetin solution changed the sensor's color from white to yellow, which subsequently can be captured and quantified using the ImageJ program, known as the scanometric technique. The sensor's analytical characteristics, such as linearity, limit of detection (LOD), limit of quantification (LOQ), precision, and accuracy, were evaluated using a quercetin standard. The results of determining the total flavonoid content of guava leaf samples using the chemical sensor-scanometric method showed agreement with the spectrophotometric method, indicating its potential as an alternative method for determining total flavonoid content.
