Abstract

The 21st-century challenges require the next generations to have various skills to deal with, including scientific process skills. This study aimed to describe the scientific process skills of the senior high school student in Palembang in term of ecology subject. This descriptive quantitative research observed 231 respondents of the tenth-grade student from two different sub-districts in Palembang, Gandus and West Ilir. The student’s scientific process skills were measured using the test instrument and interview. The results showed that there were various outcomes for each indicator in Gandus i.e. 68.87% (observing), 75.00% (grouping), 54.81% (interpreting), 73.08% (predicting), 52.56% (formulating a hypothesis), 49.04% (planning an experiment), and 43.59% (communicating). Meanwhile in West Ilir the outcomes for students’ scientific process skills were 69.48% (observing), 66.34% (grouping), 56.65% (interpreting), 64.04% (predicting), 59.64% (formulating a hypothesis), 47.85% (planning an experiment), and 41.39% (communicating). It can be concluded that the students’ scientific process skills in Palembang were categorized as the medium. Hence, strategies to promote students’ scientific process skills in biology class still need to be improved especially in ecology learning.

Abstract

The traditional assessments which only covered lower-order thinking skills are still commonly used by teachers in Palembang. Yet the 21st-Century education demands the empowerment of higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). The objective of this study was to find out the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of interactive questions in measuring students' HOTS. The research and development applied was 4-D model which included four stages (define, design, develop and disseminate). The study was conducted on the tenth graders of SMAN (Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri-State Senior High School) 4 Palembang, and SMAN 9 Palembang, in the even semester of academic year 2018/2019. The instruments of data collection were validation sheets and interactive questions. The data analysis techniques used were Microsoft Excel 2010 and WINSTEPS version 3.73.0. In conclusion, the study showed that: 1) the expert validation results were very high category; 2) the instrument was considered as good by teacher responses; and 3) the interactive questions were effective in measuring students’ HOTS.

Abstract

Abstract.  The objective of this study is to determine the percentage of science process skills of private A accredited high school students in Kecamatan Sukarami and Kemuning. The researcher used descriptive-quantitative method.The sample were the tenth grade students of private high school with A acreditation in four school in Kecamatan Sukarami and Kemuning.The sample was chosen by using Purposive sampling. The data were obtained by using questionnaires, interviews, observations, multiple choice questions, and documentation. The results showed  the percentage of the analysis of science process skills in Kecamatan Sukarami  63.22% (high) and Kemuning 61.25% (high). Kecamatan Sukarami obtained the percentage of indicators namely observing 71.72%, classifying 67.42%, interpreting 67.68%, forecasting 70.71%, formulating a hypothesis 57.07%, planning an experiment 55.05%, and communicating 44.44% . Kecamatan Kemuning obtained the percentage of indicators namely observing 69.22%, grouping 65.52%, interpreting 65.46%, forecasting 70.43%, formulating a hypothesis 50.47%, planning an experiment 51.55%, and communicating 47.85%. Abstract

During the Covid-19 period, it was considered quite disruptive to the economy of every family. One promising entrepreneurial opportunity during this pandemic is the use of waste to become valuable goods. Kokedama is a gardening technique from Japan that can reduce plastic pots, an alternative to indoor plants with aesthetic value and high selling value. This service aims to provide training in making kokedama to Sukarami District Family Welfare Advisors (PKK). The community service method uses a training method consisting of three stages: the delivery of material, demonstrations, and practice of making kokedama, and evaluation of training activities. The results of this service, the community response to the material, stated that 100% of training participants did not know kokedama, 60% of participants were satisfied with the kokedama training, and 50% of participants noted that the time used was quite efficient for training and practice. In the future, the acquired skills are expected to provide provisions for improving family welfare through innovating ornamental plants by utilizing coco fiber waste to become kokedama.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya hubungan antara nilai Ujian Nasional, nilai tes ujian masuk sekolah, tingkat perekonomian keluarga dengan hasil belajar Biologi. Populasi penelitian adalah 367 siswa kelas X SMAN 1 dan SMAN 2 Banyuasin I dan digunakan dalam penelitian melalui total sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui dokumentasi, angket dan wawancara. Penentuan kategori data kecenderungan variabel nilai Ujian Nasional, nilai tes ujian masuk IPA di SMA, dan tingkat perekonomian keluarga berdasarkan Kategori Skor Kecenderungan Variabel oleh Mardapi (2008), sedangkan untuk hasil belajar menggunakan nilai KKM (Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal) yang ditetapkan oleh sekolah penelitian. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan korelasi Spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif dan sedang antara tingkat nilai Ujian Nasional, nilai tes ujian masuk sekolah, dan tingkat perekonomian keluarga secara bersama-sama terhadap hasil belajar Biologi siswa SMA Negeri di Kecamatan Banyuasin I. Di antara ketiga variabel bebas penelitian yang paling dominan berpengaruh adalah tingkat ekonomi keluarga, sangat menunjang keberhasilan seorang siswa dalam proses belajarnya. This study aimed to determine whether there were correlation among national exam score, school entrance exam score, and family economic level with students’ biology learning outcome. The study population was 367 students of class X SMAN 1 and SMAN 2 Banyuasin I and used through total sampling. Data was collected through documentation, questionnaire and interview. Determination of the trend data category for the variable National Examination score, school entrance exam score in high school, and family economic level based on the Variable Tendency Score Category by Mardapi (2008), while for the learning outcome was used Minimum Completeness Criteria value set by the research school. The data obtained were analyzed using Spearman correlation. The results showed that there was a positive and moderate correlation among national exam score, school entrance exam score, and family economic level with senior high school students’ biology learning outcome in Banyuasin I District. Among the three independent research variables, the most dominant influential was the family economic level, which greatly supported the success of a student in the learning process.

Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah: (1) Guru belum banyak mengetahui tentang metakognitif, (2) Minimnya pemahaman guru mengenai instrumen yang digunakan dalam pengukuran kesadaran metakognitif. Kedua permasalahan ini berdampak pada tidak adanya tindak lanjut untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran yang mengasah penggunaan kesadaran metakognitif siswa. Rumusan masalah penelitian adalah apakah terdapat hubungan antara kesadaran metakognitif dengan hasil belajar biologi siswa di SMA Muhammadiyah 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, dan 8 Palembang?. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kesadaran metakognitif siswa dengan hasil belajar biologi di SMA Muhammadiyah Se-kota Palembang. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan berupa penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan lembar angket dan hasil belajar biologi (UAS). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan uji signifikansi dan uji pearson product moment. Subyek penelitian adalah kelas X IPA, XI IPA, dan XII IPA di SMA Muhammadiyah Palembang, teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan rumus slovin. Hasil penelitian diperoleh setelah menggunakan uji signifikansi di SMA Muhammadiyah se-kota Palembang diketahui bahwa nilai signifikansi < 0,05, yang artinya terdapat hubungan antara kesadaran metakognitif dengan hasil belajar biologi siswa di SMA Muhammadiyah se-kota Palembang dan memiliki tingkat hubungan yang termasuk dalam kategori “Kuat dan Cukup Kuat”

Abstract

Pembelajaran IPA di kelas VIII SMP Negeri 13 Palembang belum melibatkan siswa sepenuhnya karena pembelajaran masih bersifat konvensional, sehingga siswa kurang aktif dan kurang memaksimalkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Diperlukan pembelajaran yang menerapkan model pembelajaran yang bersifat faktual sehingga siswa mampu menggali pengetahuan yang didapat dan mampu berpikir dengan kritis, seperti model POE (Predict Observe and Explain). Tujuan penelitian adalah memberdayakan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 13 Palembang menggunakan model pembelajaran POE. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode penelitian quasi experiment dengan kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Pembelajaran dengan model POE dilakukan sebanyak dua pertemuan pada pembelajaran IPA materi sistem pernapasan. Instrumen untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa adalah soal pilihan ganda, mengacu pada kriteria berpikir kritis Facione (2013): interpretasi, analisis, evaluasi, kesimpulan, penjelasan, dan pengaturan diri. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif menggunakan persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya pemberdayaan berpikir kritis melalui model POE dalam pembelajaran IPA materi sistem pernapasan di SMP Negeri 13 Palembang. Secara keseluruhan (dari 6 indikator berpikir kritis) kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran POE termasuk kritis, sedangkan kemampuan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dengan pembelajaran tanpa model POE berada pada kategori tidak kritis. Natural science learning in class VIII of State Junior High School (SMP Negeri) 13 Palembang has not fully involved students because learning was still conventional, so students were less active and did not maximize students' critical thinking ability. Learning model that applies a factual learning was needed so that students were able to explore the knowledge gained and to think critically, such as POE (Predict Observe and Explain) model. The research purpose was to empower students’ critical thinking ability of class VIII SMP Negeri 13 Palembang using the POE learning model. The method used in this research was a quasi experiment research with the control class and the experimental class. Learning by the POE model was done by two meetings on the natural science learning of respiratory system material. The instrument to determine students' critical thinking ability was the multiple choice test, referring to Facione's critical thinking criteria (2013): interpretation, analysis, evaluation, conclusions, explanations, and self-regulation. Data were analyzed descriptively quantitatively using percentages. The results showed that the existence of empowerment of critical thinking through POE model on the natural science learning of respiratory system material in SMP Negeri 13 Palembang. Overall (out of the 6 indicators of critical thinking) students' critical thinking ability using POE learning model were critical, while students' critical thinking ability without POE model learning were in the uncritical category.

Abstract

This research has been conducted with the tittle the diversity of gastropods on the river water environment Empayang Lahat regency of South Sumatra province. The aim of this research species diversity of gastropods contained the region. This research was implemented conducted in October 2015, a river Empayang Kasap Sukajadi Lahat regency. The methods of this research is purposive random sampling method with 5 sampling stations, each station is divided into three substations (edges first, middle, edge 2) was determined by linear transects (line transect). The data of the sample was taken in the morning and afternoon. The results of this research were obtained 8 species of gastropods (Melanoides granifera, Elimia acuta, Brotia tetidinaria, Lymnae stagnalist, Lymnae rubiginosa, Pomacea canaliculata, Pila polita and Menetus sp) with 7 genus, and of the six tribes (families) of 4 order. The total index of the diversity in the river Empayang Kasap Sukajadi Lahat district was of 2.09 to 2.46. The highest levels of diversity found in the station V (2.46) and the lowest at station I (2.09). While the value of dominance index (C) with a range of 0.17 to 0.26 at five stations in the lower state, the highest level of dominance index at station I (0.26) and the lowest at station III (0.17). River water quality conditions greatly affect the existence of gastropods.

Abstract

Abstrak: Model Picture and Picture adalah suatu model pembelajaran aktif dengan menggunakan gambar yang dipasangkan atau diurutkan menjadi urutan yang sistematis. Model pembelajaran Picture and Picture mengandung unsur permainan yang dapat menggairahkan semangat belajar siswa, sehingga melibatkan siswa secara aktif dalam proses pembelajaran. Model ini diaplikasikan kepada siswa pada materi pembelajaran keanekaragaman hayati yang dikaitkan dengan penelitian pengaruh herbisida ekstrak biji kelor terhadap pertumbuhan eceng gondok. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk; 1) mengetahui pengaruh herbisida ekstrak biji kelor terhadap tanaman eceng gondok; 2) mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 3 Palembang dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Picture and Picture. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen murni dan kuasi eksperimen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa; 1) pemberian ekstrak biji kelor sebagai herbisida berpengaruh terhadap penurunan pertumbuhan gulma eceng gondok; 2) aplikasi model Picture and Picture dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 3 Palembang. Kata Kunci: Model pembelajaran Picture and Picture, ekstrak biji kelor, herbisida.

Abstract

Keterampilan proses sains merupakan keterampilan terarah yang dapat digunakan untuk menemukan suatu konsep, sehingga peserta didik dapat memecahkan berbagai masalah baru melalui metode ilmiah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persentase keterampilan proses sains peserta didik SMA kelas X di kecamatan Seberang Ulu I dan Kertapati Palembang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif, dengan teknik Purposive Sampling. Sampel penelitian ini 4 sekolah yang memiliki akreditasi A dan B dengan nilai akreditasi di atas 80, jumlah respondennya 306 peserta didik. Instrumen penilaian keterampilan proses sains menggunakan soal pilihan ganda beralasan dengan 7 indikator yaitu mengamati, mengelompokkan, menafsirkan, meramalkan, berhipotesis, merencanakan percobaan dan berkomunikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persentase keterampilan proses sains peserta didik SMA kelas X di Kecamatan Seberang Ulu I untuk tiap indikator yaitu; keterampilan mengamati 59,80% (tinggi), mengelompokkan 61,37% (tinggi), menafsirkan 53,23% (sedang), meramalkan 57,05% (sedang), berhipotesis 38,03% (rendah), melaksanakan percobaan 35,58% (rendah) dan berkomunikasi 27,45% (rendah). Persentase keterampilan proses sains peserta didik SMA kelas X di Kecamatan Kertapati untuk tiap indikator yaitu; keterampilan mengamati 60,70% (tinggi), mengelompokkan 63,60% (tinggi), menafsirkan 59,55% (tinggi), meramalkan 67,89% (tinggi), berhipotesis 45,71% (sedang), melaksanakan percobaan 52,69% (sedang) dan berkomunikasi sebesar 36,15% (rendah).
