Abstract

Students' metacognitive skills on reaction rate material are still low, so it is necessary to innovate digital-based teaching materials that can facilitate the process of planning, monitoring, and evaluating learning. This study aims to evaluate how well guided inquiry-oriented e-LKPD improves students' metacognitive skills on reaction rate material. Students of SMA Negeri 1 Slahung were used as research subjects. This study used a one-group pretest-posttest design and was pre-experimental. The results of the pretest and posttest of metacognitive skills were used to collect research data. The method used for data analysis was the Paired Sample t-Test. The results of the Paired Sample t-Test showed a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). Therefore, it can be said that guided inquiry-based e-LKPD successfully improved students' metacognitive skills on reaction rate material.

Abstract

Problem-solving skills are one of the key competencies that need to be developed in chemistry education. However, students’ proficiency in this area remains relatively low, particularly regarding the factors that influence reaction rates. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effectiveness of guided inquiry-based learning activities supplemented with the Chemistry Mystery Box media in improving students’ problem-solving skills. This study employed a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design involving 31 11th-grade students at a senior high school in Sidoarjo Regency. The research instrument consisted of a problem-solving skills test administered before and after instruction. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the N-Gain test, the normality test, and the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that students’ average scores increased from the pretest to the posttest, with an average N-Gain score of 0.7207 which falls into the high category and N-Gain scores for each indicator of 0.661, 0.703, 0.768, 0.721, and 0.757, respectively, falling into the moderate and high categories. The results of the Wilcoxon test also showed a significant difference, indicating that the use of guided inquiry-based student worksheet supplemented with the Chemistry Mystery Box media proved effective in improving students’ problem-solving skills, particularly regarding the factors affecting reaction rates.
