Abstract

Abstract Oxidative stress occurs due to imbalance of free radicals over antioxidant level in the body. This condition causes lipid peroxidation and DNA damage. D-Galaktosa is The mechanism of oxidative stress induced by d-galactose occurs in the subcellular, especially in the brain's mitochondria. Increasing the concentration of d-galaktosa is oxidized by galaktosa oxidase to form hydrogen peroxide (H202) which causes a decrease in superoxide dismutase (SOD). H202 reacts with reduced iron and forms hydroxide ions (OH-). Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of d-galaktosa induction on oxidative stress levels (MDA) in male mice. Methods: Methods of samples of mice given d-galaktosa and blood collection from the heart were carried out at the Pharmacology Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine, University of North Sumatra. Results: The results showed that administration of d-galaktosa, through intraperitonial injection every day for 6 weeks, had an effect on the levels of oxidative stress in male mice. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that administration of d-galaktosa, through intraperitonial injection every day for 6 weeks, has an effect on levels of oxidative stress in male mice.

Abstract

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with a prevalence in the world around 2-3%. TGF-?1 is a growth factor that has a polymorphism in its genes. The TGF-?1 gene polymorphism plays a role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. This is a descriptive study with a simple random sampling technique. This study was conducted on the strored of DNA specimens collected from 62 psoriasis patients comprising 33 women and 29 men. This study aims to determine the frequency distribution of the TGF-?1 gene polymorphism (T869C) in patients with psoriasis. The TGF-?1 gene polymorphism (T869C) was determined using PCR-based restricted fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). TC genotype was the most prevalent (50%) of TGF-?1 (T869C) gene polymorphism in psoriasis patients, followed by TT genotype (6.5%) and CC (43.5%). TC variant is the most variant of TGF-?1 (T869C) gene polymorphism in psoriasis sufferers in Medan

Abstract

Indonesia has a significantly higher maternal mortality ratio (MMR) than other countries in Southeast Asia, and infection is one of the most common causes of maternal deaths, of which premature rupture of membranes (PROM) can be the consequence of the infections. In primary healthcare settings, midwives play an important role in identifying and managing PROM appropriately; however, studies on their knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to PROM are limited. The aim of this study was to determine the midwives' knowledge, attitude and healthcare practice on PROM in Indonesia. A cross-sectional study was conducted among midwives at primary healthcare facilities in Samosir and Toba Regency, North Sumatra, Indonesia, from July to November 2022. The knowledge, attitude and practice towards PROM were assessed. Results showed that 57.5% of midwives had poor knowledge and 35.1% had poor attitude levels. There were 4.9% of midwives referred the patients immediately to the hospital. Our data indicated that aged 31−40 or 41−50 years, having a lower than bachelor degree and having a higher monthly number of referred PROM patients were significantly associated with poor knowledge compared to younger, having a bachelor degree, and lower monthly referral patient number, respectively. Similarly, younger, having higher degree and a having lower monthly referral number of PROM cases were associated with higher chances of having a sufficient-good attitude towards PROM. This study highlights that a significant percentage of midwives had poor levels of knowledge and attitude, and age, educational level and monthly referral number of PROM cases were associated with the level of knowledge and attitude.

Abstract

Natural dyes are used as a non-biodegradable alternative to synthetic dyes. Fresh palm fruit bunches (FFB) are known to contain several compounds which are thought to be used as alternative natural dyes, such as: flavonoids, caratenoids and tannins. Apart from that, the use of industrial waste is an added value in this research. Fixation is the most important stage after the color dyeing process because fixation is a stage to lock and strengthen the direction of the color. The types of fixator used in this research were tawas, kapur, and tunjung. The aim of this research is to see whether CPO production sterilizer waste can be used as an alternative to natural dyes and how the type of fixator affects the dyeing results of silk fabric. The evaluation parameters of the dyeing results observed were the value of color maturity, color evenness, and washing and rubbing fastness. The results showed that the three types of fixator had an effect on the color aging value produced but did not have a significant effect on the fastness of washing and scrubbing. The highest K/S value was found in Tunjung mordant at 1.33 at ʎmax 400nm. Meanwhile for Kapur and Tawas mordant it is 0.72 and 0.71. Keywords: fixator, natural dyes, waste

Abstract

Background: Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in Indonesia. As a culturally rich country, Indonesia has various traditional medicines that are passed through generations to maintain health conditions as local wisdom in the society. A combination of conventional complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is often used by cancer patients. This study aims to describe the use of complementary and alternative medicine among cervical cancer patients in H. Adam Malik Hospital Medan.Method: This is a descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional design. Subjects were patients diagnosed with cervical cancer at Gyneco-Oncology Clinic, H. Adam Malik Hospital, Medan. Fifty patients were interviewed with questions about the type, frequency, source of information, satisfaction rate, and openness to doctors regarding the use of CAM. Data were collected from July - September 2023.Results: The types of CAM used were nutritional therapy (39.3%), mind-body interventions (27.1%), herbs (23.4%), massage (9.3%), and acupuncture (0.9%). Most of the subjects used a combination of 2 types of CAM (74%). Most of the respondents (82%) were satisfied with CAM, and 48% of respondents did not inform doctors regarding the CAM used.Conclusion: All cervical cancer outpatients at H. Adam Malik Hospital used CAM together with conventional cancer therapy. The doctors should actively ask about the CAM that is used by the patients since not all patients disclose the information to their healthcare provider.

Abstract

ABSTRAKSerial Peripheral Interface (SPI) adalah protokol komunikasi yang dapat digunakan sebagai interface komunikasi antara mikrokontroler dengan SD Card. Dengan menerapkan metoda SPI pada data logger berbasis SD Card, maka dapat diketahui karakteristik protokol komunikasi SPI antara mikrokontroler dengan SD Card. SD Card diformat dengan tipe FAT 16, dan data di dalam SD Card berupa sekumpulan paket data sensor yang diambil secara periodik dan disimpan dalam bentuk file dengan format.csv. Berdasarkan format paket data sensor yang dibuat, dapat dihitungwaktu perekaman data yang diperlukan agar kapasitas SD Card terisi penuh oleh data sensor. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan,bahwa metoda SPI yang diterapkan pada penelitian ini memiliki sifat akan melakukan pemeriksaan berulang pada pin MISO terhadap command yang dikirimkan oleh mikrokontroler melalui pin MOSI. Proses read/write data pada SD Card data logger memiliki keberhasilan 100%, karena SD Card telah terinisialisasi dalam mode SPI melalui perintah reset dan init SD Card. Komunikasi ini dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan crystal 4 Mhz – 20 Mhz. Untuk pengujian konfigurasi SPI, hanya Independent Slave Configuration yang dapat digunakan pada komunikasi SPI dengan 2 SD card sebagai slave. Kata kunci: Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), Data Logger, SD card, FAT16ABSTRACTSerial Peripheral Interface (SPI) is a communication protocol that can be applied as a communication interface between microcontroller to SD Card. By implementing the SPI method to a data logger based on SD Card, it can be known the characteristics of the SPI communications protocol between microcontroller to SD Card. SD Card formatted in FAT 16 type, and data on the SD Card is the form of sensor data packets collection which be captured periodically and saved in .csv format file. Based on the sensor data packet format is created, it can be calculated recording time data required so that the SD Card capacity completely filled by the sensor data. Research results show, that the SPI method applied in this study has the properties will do repeated testing on MISO pin to the command sent by the microcontroller through the MOSI pin. The read / write data on the SD Card data logger has a 100% success, because the SD Card has been initialized in SPI mode through the reset and init SD Card command.  This communication can be established using crystal 4 Mhz - 20 Mhz. At SPI configuration testing, only the Independent Slave Configuration can be used in SPI communication with 2 SD card as a slave.Keywords: Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), Data Logger, SD card, FAT16

Abstract

ABSTRAKPemanfaatan teknologi dalam bidang kesehatan dan olahraga telah berkembang dengan pesat. Aplikasi dan smartwatch dapat menghitung total kalori terbakar selama berolahraga namun tidak memberikan rincian kalori terbakar setiap detiknya. oleh karena itu, penilitian ini bertujuan untuk memodelkan ritme kalori terbakar setiap detikanya selama bersepeda. Terdapat usulan mengenai metode yang digunakan untuk penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan metode Feedforward Neural Network untuk memprediksi jumlah kalori yang terbakar pada saat berolahraga sepeda. Masukan jaringan saraf tiruan adalah detak jantung (HRt), kecepatan kayuh (Cadt), berat badan(m) dan suhu (c). Pada penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan jaringan syaraf tiruan Feedforward Neural Network mendapatkan nilai 59 neuron pada lapisan tersembunyi dan mendapatkan nilai akurasi keberhasilan sebesar 93 %.Kata kunci: feedforward neural network, sepeda, kalori terbakar, detak jantung, berat badan, kecepatan kayuh ABSTRACTThe use of technology in the field of health and sports has grown rapidly. Apps and smartwatches can calculate total calories burned during exercise but don't provide a breakdown of calories burned per second. Therefore, this research aims to model the rhythm of calories burned every second during cycling. In this study, it is proposed to use the Feedforward Neural Network method to predict the number of calories burned while exercising a bicycle. The inputs to the artificial neural network are heart rate (HRt), pedaling speed (Cadt), body weight (m) and temperature (c). In this study using a Feedforward Neural Network artificial neural network to get a value of 59 neurons in the hidden layer and get a success accuracy score of 93%.Keywords: feedforward neural network, cycling, calories, heart rate, weight

Abstract

ABSTRAKPemillihan modul transciever sebagai media transmisi data digital menjadi permasalahan bagi perancang ketika mendesain suatu sistem komunikasi nirkabel. Pada penelitian ini penulis melakukan evaluasi pada dua modul transceiver yaitu XBee Pro dan nRFf24L01+ dengan tujuan untuk menentukan modul transceiver mana yang tepat digunakan untuk kebutuhan perancangan sistem Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). Evaluasi dilakukan dengan mengirimkan data dalam bentuk karakter ASCII/ bytes secara kontinyu maupun sekuensial melalui komunikasi serial UART. Pada pengaturan untuk mode data rate 250 Kbps, XBee Pro memiliki data rate 27 Kbps dan nRF24L01+ 16 Kbps untuk protokol komunikasi serial UART. Modul nRF24L01+ lebih unggul dalam mengirimkan data secara streaming (kontinyu) dibandingkan Xbee Pro, dan nRF24L01+ memiliki Round Time Trip (RTT) tercepat 0,003 sekon sedangkan XBee Pro hanya 0,036sekon. Pada aplikasi dalam ruangan XBee Pro memiliki performa lebih tinggi karena lebih stabil dalam transmisi dengan hambatan 4 dinding sedangkan nRF24L01+ hanya 2 dinding.Kata kunci: UART, Data Rate, Nirkabel, XBee Pro, nRF24L01+.  ABSTRACTChosing transciever module as a media for a digital transmission data has becoming a serious problem for a designer to design a wireless communication system. In this research, author do the evaluation for a two transceiver module that are XBee Pro and nRF24L01+, the purpose is to chose which the right transceiver module that designer need to make a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) system. The evaluation was done by sending a data in ASCII character/ bytes as continuous and sequensial method using serial communication UART. When data rate is set to 250 Kbps mode, XBee Pro data rate is 27 Kbps and nRF24L01+ 16Kbps for serial communicaton UART purpose. nRF24L01+ is better at sending a streaming data (continuous) than XBee Pro, and also nRF24L01+ has a fastest Round Time Trip (RTT) that are 0,003 sec while XBee Pro only 0,036 sec. For indoor application XBee Pro has a better perform because it work better until 4 brick wall while nRF24L01+ only 2 brick wall.Keyword: UART, Data Rate, Wireless, XBee Pro, nRF24L01+.

Abstract

This research aims to detect objects and determine the distance from the mobile camera to facilitate and assist visually impaired users in recognizing the surrounding environment using several models made with the RetinaNet Method and Residual Network-152 architecture. Three object detection models were generated by ADAM and SGD parameter optimizers. Object recognition was performed using the TensorFlow framework with a dataset of 2,444 images. The first model with training parameters used is ADAM optimizer, epoch 50, batch size 16, and lr 1e-5. The second model has training parameters, such as ADAM optimizer, epoch 100, batch size 16, and lr 1e-5. The third model uses SGD optimizer training parameters, epoch 50, batch size 16, and lr 1e-5. Based on 250 tests on each model, the results show that the best model is the first model, which shows a precision value of 82%, a recall value of 98%, an f1 score value of 89%, and an accuracy value of 86%. The distance from the mobile camera is tested in multiples of 10 at a distance of 100-300 cm with a camera height of 100-130 cm and a camera angle of 80⁰-90⁰ getting reasonable distance detection results at a camera height of 130 cm because it gets the smallest total difference value of 14.3 cm.

Abstract

Desa Ciherang, yang terletak di Kabupaten Bandung, menghadapi tantangan pengelolaan limbah rumah tangga dan bonggol jagung sebagai limbah pertanian utama. Permasalahan ini diperparah oleh rendahnya tingkat pendidikan penduduk dan tingginya tingkat pengangguran usia produktif, yang menghambat pemanfaatan limbah menjadi sumber daya ekonomis. Untuk mengatasi hal ini, penelitian ini mengembangkan sistem digitalisasi berbasis aplikasi mobile bernama Pulus. Sistem ini dirancang untuk mendukung proses daur ulang limbah dengan menyediakan platform interaktif bagi masyarakat untuk memilah, menyetorkan, dan menjual limbah anorganik maupun organik kepada pengepul. Metode penelitian meliputi analisis kebutuhan mitra, perancangan sistem berbasis user-centered design, dan pengujian aplikasi. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa sistem ini mampu meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pentingnya pengelolaan limbah, mendorong partisipasi dalam program daur ulang, serta menciptakan peluang ekonomi baru melalui insentif finansial berbasis kontribusi daur ulang. Implementasi aplikasi Pulus di Desa Ciherang diharapkan tidak hanya mengurangi dampak lingkungan akibat limbah, tetapi juga meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat melalui ekonomi sirkular. Studi ini memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan solusi berbasis teknologi untuk pengelolaan limbah berkelanjutan di daerah pedesaan.
