Abstract

This study examines the ecological wisdom in the North Sumatera folktale, Putri Lopian from an ecocritical perspective. Folktales, as part of oral literature, often contain social values ​​and norms about human interaction with nature. This study aims to analyze the ecological wisdom contained in the Putri Lopian folktale through an ecocritical approach. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with an ecocritical analysis approach. Data were obtained from literature studies and the text of the folktale. The results show that the Putri Lopian folktale contains ecological wisdom values, which reflect an awareness of the importance of maintaining ecosystem balance and respecting nature. This story can be categorized as apocalyptic literature because it depicts natural phenomena such as earthquakes, low tides, and powerful waves. In addition, this story contains five of Greg Garrard's six ecocritical concepts, namely wilderness, apocalypse, dwelling, animals, and earth. This ecocritical study contributes to a deeper understanding of ecological wisdom in the context of local North Sumatera culture. This story serves as a basis for promoting environmental awareness through a literary approach.

Abstract

This study was conducted to improve the Indonesian speaking skills of Thai students using role-playing methods in the Matayum 3 Islam Witaya School, Thailand. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of two cycles, each going through the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The study involved 20 Thai students, and data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation. The results showed a quite striking improvement in speaking skills, especially in the aspects of pronunciation, word stress, tone, intonation, rhythm, as well as vocabulary selection and sentence structure. The average student score increased from 54 in the pre-action, to 69 in the first cycle, and reached 85 in the second cycle. In addition, the number of students in the very good category also increased from 0% before the action, to 15% in the first cycle, and 30% in the second cycle. These findings indicate that the use of role-playing methods is effective in improving the speaking skills of Thai students.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology in education requires the strengthening of students’ digital literacy, particularly for students of the Elementary School Teacher Education Program (PGSD) as prospective primary school teachers. Digital literacy is not merely defined as the ability to read digital texts, but also the ability to understand, evaluate, and critically interpret information within Indonesian language learning contexts. This study aims to examine the effect of Indonesian language learning based on the Merdeka Curriculum on the digital literacy of PGSD students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (FKIP UMSU). This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group. The research sample consisted of an experimental group and a control group selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a digital literacy questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and an independent sample t-test. The results indicate a significant difference in digital literacy between PGSD students in the experimental and control groups. Indonesian language learning based on the Merdeka Curriculum was proven to be effective in improving students’ abilities to understand, evaluate, and interpret digital texts critically. These findings emphasize the importance of implementing the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesian language learning to prepare digitally literate and adaptive prospective primary school teachers to meet the demands of 21st-century education. Abstract

ABSTRAK: Hal yang sering menjadi kendala dalam menulis adalah kurangnya penguasaan kosakata, padahal kosakata menentukan seberapa terampil seseorang dalam berbahasa. Semakin kaya kosakata yang kita miliki, maka semakin besar pula kemungkinan kita terampil berbahasa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui ada atau tidaknya pengaruh penguasaan kosakata terhadap kemampuan menulis eksposisi siswa SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Medan; (2) mengetahui ada atau tidaknya pengaruh penguasaan tata bahasa Indonesia terhadap kemampuan menulis eksposisi siswa kelas X SMA Muhammadiyah se-Kota Medan; serta (3) mengetahui ada atau tidaknya pengaruh penguasaan kosakata dan tata bahasa Indonesia terhadap kemampuan menulis eksposisi siswa SMA Muhammadiyah se-Kota Medan. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas X SMA Muhammadiyah se-Kota Medan dengan mengambil sampel sebanyak 250 siswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik stratified random sampling. Pengumpulan data kosa kata, tata bahasa, dan menulis eksposisi dilakukan dengan tes kemampuan. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis korelasi product moment dan analisis regresi linier berganda. Berdasarkan hasil yang di dapat ada 44 siswa (12,75%) siswa memiliki penguasaan kosa kata terhadap kemampuan menulis eksposis pada kategori tinggi, 251 siswa (72,72%) siswa berada pada kategori sedang dan 50 siswa (14.50%) siswa memiliki kemampuan rendah. Sementara untuk penguasaan tata bahasa Indonesia terhadap kemampuan menulis narasi di dapat data yaitu: 59 siswa (17.10%) kategori tinggi, 219 siswa (63,48%) siswa kategori sedang dan 67 siswa (19,42%) kategori rendah.
