Abstract

This research was conducted in the raw material warehouse division of PT Indofood Fortuna Makmur, a snack food manufacturing company known for products such as Chitato, Chiki, and Qtela, located in Cikupa, Tangerang. The objective of the study is to evaluate and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the warehouse management system, particularly in addressing operational challenges due to increased production capacity and the use of temporary rental storage at Warehouse 88. The data were analyzed using the 5S method, ABC analysis, and seasonal slotting. The implementation of the 5S principles proved to improve orderliness, cleanliness, and workplace safety. The seasonal slotting method helped optimize raw material storage by adjusting locations based on seasonal production patterns. Meanwhile, ABC analysis enabled more efficient and structured stock and storage space management. The integration of these three methods significantly enhanced the overall performance of the warehouse system at PT Indofood Fortuna Makmur.

Abstract

PT Kunango Jantan is one of the private companies engaged in manufacturing and trading. One of the products produced is Street Light Pole (PJU). The production of these PJU poles also faces various challenges. Commonly faced challenges are related to several types of waste on the production floor. This research aims to identify waste on the production floor of PJU poles using a lean manufacturing approach. The results indicate that the top three waste percentages are 18.9% for transportation activities, 17.62% for waiting activities, and 15.46% for defects. Some factors causing these wastages include frequent machine breakdowns, depletion of raw materials due to the lack of raw material scheduling implementation, and frequent transportation during production. Improvement recommendations to reduce waste include scheduling machine maintenance, planning raw material control, and adjusting machine layouts to minimize repetitive transportation.

Abstract

The increase in waste at the Padang City landfill (TPA) each year is caused by population growth and the imbalance between the amount of waste generated and the waste processing facilities at the source. As a result, inadequately processed waste at waste banks, TPS3R, and TPST ends up in the landfill, where space is increasingly limited. This study uses a Causal Loop Diagram (CLD) to identify and analyze the waste management and disposal system in Padang City and its impact on overall waste management. The conceptual model is created with three CLD submodels: the population submodel, the waste at source submodel, and the waste processing submodel. This study concludes that a more dynamic approach and comprehensive analysis of all aspects of waste management are needed to reduce waste accumulation at the landfill and increase its capacity in the future. The conceptual waste management model developed serves as an initial step in creating a dynamic system that can help solve waste problems effectively and sustainably.
