Abstract

The problem of increasing energy demand must be balanced with energy production. The development of water-powered energy is one alternative solution for the sustainability of life on earth. The Savonius Hydrokinetic Turbine is a type of hydroelectric power plant that can convert kinetic energy into electrical energy. River currents as a renewable energy source can rotate the turbine and convert it into electricity through a generator. This study aims to determine the effect of a 180˚ twist change on the Savonius Tornado Helical Hydrokinetic Turbine with a variation of the lower end plate smaller than the upper end plate. The research method was carried out by testing 4 turbine variations, namely the Savonius Hydrokinetic Turbine and the Savonius Tornado Helical Hydrokinetic Turbine D / 2, 3D / 4 and 4D / 4, where D is the diameter of the turbine end plate. The testing process was carried out in an open prismatic channel with variations in flow speed of 0.331 m / s, 0.396 m / s and 0.486 m / s. The results of the study showed that the Savonius Hydrokinetic Turbine produced a Cp (Coefficient of power) value of 0.114 - 0.226 and a TSR (Tip Speed ​​Ratio) of 1.550 - 1.775. The performance of the Savonius Tornado Helical Hydrokinetic Turbine with end plate D / 2 was significantly higher than the Savonius Hydrokinetic Turbine, with an increase in Cp value of 11% and TSR of 12.6%. The Savonius Tornado Helical Hydrokinetic Turbine with end plate 3D / 4 increased the Cp and TSR values ​​by 6.6% and 10%. While the Savonius Tornado Helical Hydrokinetic Turbine with end plate 4D / 4 was able to increase the Cp value by 0.4% and TSR by 2.4%.

Abstract

Water is a variety of needs in everyday life. Raw water in Palangka Raya City is still influenced by peat water which has a low pH, while river water has quite high turbidity due to sedimentation. For residential areas that are far from the reach of PDAM, it will be difficult to get clean water and there is no fast technology to handle the decrease in acidity. An alternative innovation that can be used by people who are far from the reach of PDAM is to use appropriate technology tools for wasp nest water purifiers. The purpose of the study was to obtain a comparison of water treatment results from several variations of non-natural filter media in wasp nest water purifiers against pH and TDS. The method used in this experimental test was to test short, medium, and high wasp nest water purifiers with a filtration hole size of 0.25 cm and a distance between holes of 0.5 cm. The volume of non-natural filter media in various sizes of wasp nest water purifiers was conditioned the same in each experiment. The filtration process uses 4 pumps with a pump discharge of 45 l/minute each. The results obtained indicate that the filtration type water purifier functions well and is able to increase pH. There is an increase in the TDS parameter because during the water circulation process there is uncontrolled mixing of the filter media.

Abstract

Savonius Tornado Hydrokinetic Turbine has an optimal capture area, but is less able to transmit the thrust of water kinetic energy into electrical energy. The purpose of this study is to analyze the Savonius Tornado Hydrokinetic Turbine twisted without an end plate. The experimental method was carried out on the flume channel to compare the performance between the Conventional Savonius Hydrokinetic Turbine and the Savonius Tornado Turbine without an end plate by twisting the turbine blades 1/2D, 1/3D, 4/4D, where D is the width of the turbine end plate. This test will obtain the Coefficient of power (Cp), RPM, torque (τ) and TSR as parameters to see the turbine performance. This experimental study used a flow velocity (v) between 0.322 m/s - 0.507 m/s. The results of the study indicate that the Conventional Savonius Turbine produces a torque value of 0.040 Nm - 0.095 Nm, the 1/2D Savonius Tornado turbine without a twisted end plate produces a torque value of 0.051 Nm - 0.194 Nm, the 3/4D Savonius Tornado turbine without a twisted end plate produces a torque value of 0.049 Nm - 0.155 Nm, and the 4/4D Savonius Tornado turbine without a twisted end plate produces a torque value of 0.044 Nm - 0.168 Nm. The Savonius Tornado Hydrokinetic Turbine is twisted without end plates, resulting in increased turbine performance

Abstract

Kecepatan aliran bidang vertikal di lahan gambut memiliki karakteristik unik dan berbeda dengan sungai, yang dipengaruhi oleh topografi, morfologi, dan hidrometri saluran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis profil distribusi kecepatan aliran bidang vertikal dan kecepatan aliran rerata yang dilakukan pada 2 saluran dengan variasi lebar dan kedalaman. Pengukuran kecepatan dilakukan pada potongan melintang yang dibagi menjadi 7 rai (B/2, B/4, B/8, B/16) pada kiri dan kanan serta tengah, dimana (B) adalah lebar saluran. Pada setiap rai, kecepatan diukur pada sepuluh titik kedalaman dengan pengulangan 5 hingga 16 kali. Hasilnya menunjukkan pola distribusi kecepatan yang sama pada beberapa rai di kedua saluran, khususnya (B/2 di tengah, B/4 kiri, B/8 kiri, B/4 kanan, dan B/8 kanan). Pada rai ini, kecepatan besar di permukaan dan menurun mendekati dasar. Namun, di tepi saluran 1 (B/16 kiri, B/8 kanan), saluran 2 (B/16 kanan), pola distribusi menunjukkan kecepatan aliran bertambah besar di dasar saluran. Rerata kecepatan aliran mencapai 0,041 m/dt di saluran 1 (B/16 kanan) dan 0,048 m/dt di saluran 2 (B/2 tengah), dengan kedalaman rerata 0,4 sampai 0,6 h. Hal ini disebabkan pada lahan gambut terdapat akar dan serat, membentuk pori-pori yang mempercepat pergerakan aliran air tanah menuju saluran khususnya bagian tepi.

Abstract

Utilizing footbridges and yards on the Kahayan Riverside area, Langkai Village as an initial idea in efforts to fulfill food security. Footbridges and yards are used as media where daily vegetable and fruit crops can be planted. Vegetables and fruit fulfill daily needs and provide special skills for children at Islamic boarding schools. The location of the Islamic boarding school in Palangka Raya City is located on the riverside area, this inspired the idea of ​​growing fruit and vegetables on the Kahayan. River side area to provide food supplies. The service aims to stimulate the children (Students) of Madradah Tsanawiyah Hidayatul Insan to use the walkways and yards as areas for growing fruit and vegetables. The location of the service is located at the Hidayatul Insan Islamic Boarding School on the Kahayan Riverside area, Langkai Village. The method used was a qualitative method based on interviews with Islamic boarding school supervisors, discussions regarding types of fruit and vegetable plants, and planting fruit and vegetables using hydroponic cultivation media by Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Hidayatul Insan students. Activities of the Community Empowerment Assistant Lecturer Program Team (PDPPM) FT UPR have provided assistance starting from the preparation stage, implementation stage, and until the stage of harvesting the plants. Abstract

Aliran super kritis di hilir pintu air dapat menjadi salah satu penyebab gerusan pada saluran. Oleh karena itu, sebelum masuk ke saluran, aliran super kritis di hilir pintu air perlu direduksi menjadi aliran sub kritis. Untuk mereduksi aliran kritis di hilir pintu air biasanya digunakan konstruksi kolam olak yang dikombinasikan dengan baffle block dan sill. Dalam penelitian ini, konstruksi kelompok tiang diuji sebagai pereduksi aliran super kritis di hilir pintu air tipe flap. Penelitian dilakukan dengan cara pemodelan fisik di laboratorium. Model konstruksi kelompok tiang yang diuji terdiri dari enam variasi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa dalam enam variasi model konstruksi kelompok tiang yang diuji, aliran super kritis di hilir model pintu air tipe flap dapat diubah menjadi aliran sub kritis. Variasi yang paling efektif adalah Variasi IV. Pada variasi IV, model tiang dipasang paralel, tinggi model tiang 24 kali diameter model tiang, jarak antar model tiang 1/8 lebar flume, panjang model konstruksi kelompok tiang 1,95 kali jarak antara model konstruksi kelompok tiang dan model pintu air tipe flap.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan jalan titian dan pekarangan di kawasan tepian Sungai Kahayan Kelurahan Langkai sebagai ide awal dalam upaya pemenuhan ketahanan pangan. Jalan titian dan pekarangan digunakan sebagai media yang dapat ditanam untuk tanaman kebutuhan harian sayur-sayuran. Pemenuhan kebutuhan harian di jalan titian diberikan keterampilan menanam sayur-sayuran bagi anak-anak pondok pesantren. Lokasi pengabdian yaitu Pondok Pesantren Hidayatul Insan di Kota Palangka Raya terletak di tepian Sungai Kahayan. Pengabdian bertujuan menstimulasi anak-anak di pondok Pesantren Hidayatul Insan untuk memanfaatkan jalan di titian dan pekarangan untuk menanam buah dan sayur. Lokasi pengabdian terletak di Pondok Pesantren Hidayatul Insan kawasan tepian Sungai Kahayan Kelurahan Langkai. Metode menggunakan metode kualitatif berdasarkan proses wawancara dengan Pembina Pengelola Pondok Pesantren, rembug dengan anak-anak pondok pemilihan tanaman buah dan sayur, dan menanam buah dan sayur menggunakan media budidaya secara hidroponik oleh anak-anak Pondok Pesantren. Tim PDPPM FT UPR melakukan pendampingan dalam proses pembelajaran urun rembug, mendesain lahan, memilih tanaman, menanam, dan merawat tanaman yang mudah hidup dan siap panen pada media hidroponik. Jangka panjang untuk pemberdayaan anak-anak pondok dan memberikan pelajaran wirausaha bagi anak-anak dan masyarakat tepian sungai dari hasil tanaman sebagai best practise bagi kampung lainnya sebagai bagian program konsep creative organic di kelurahan-kelurahan Kota Palangka Raya.   The utilization of walkways and yards in the Kahayan Riverbank area of Langkai Village as an initial idea in an effort to fulfill food security. Fulfilling daily needs on the footbridge provides skills for growing vegetables for Islamic boarding school children. The location of the service is the Hidayatul Insan Islamic Boarding School in Palangka Raya City, located on the Kahayan Riverside area. The community service aims to stimulate children at Hidayatul Insan Islamic Boarding School to utilize the walkway and yard to grow fruits and vegetables. The location of the service is located at Hidayatul Insan Islamic Boarding School on the banks of the Kahayan River, Langkai Village. The method uses a qualitative method based on the interview process with the Boarding School Management Supervisor, discussion with the boarding school children to select fruit and vegetable plants, and planting fruits and vegetables using hydroponic cultivation media by the boarding school children. The PDPPM FT UPR team provided assistance in the learning process of gathering, designing land, selecting plants, planting, and caring for plants that are easy to live and ready to harvest on hydroponic media. Long term for the empowerment of boarding school children and providing entrepreneurial lessons for children and riverbank communities from crops as best practices for other villages as part of the creative organic concept program in Palangka Raya City villages.

Abstract

Sarang Tawon water purifier uses filtration principle which is done repeatedly through certain filter media that are arranged in layers. The water quality as the filtration result is influenced by the filtration system and the type of filter media used and the duration of purifying process. The factor of thickness and filter media density were neglected until causing problem in the duration of water purifying process. This research aimed to find out the influence of thickness difference and filter media density of Sarang Tawon water purifier towards the parameter of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and pH. The experimental method was applied by testing the thickness of zeolite stone filter media combination, ginger coral, and coconut fiber from the Sarang Tawon water purifier with radius 4R/3, R, and 2R/3 where R=3 inches. The density variations of coconut fiber filter media were 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100%. The research results showed that the thickness of filter media in Sarang Tawon water purifier tool with radius 4R/3 with coconut fiber filter media density was 80% owning the ability to increase the highest pH value. There was increase of TDS parameter in each trial caused by the dissolved of ginger coral filter media, but it did not show significant number. TDS parameter resulted by the tool with radius 2R/3 with density variation of coconut fiber filter media amounted 80% showed a relatively stable value.

Abstract

Energi terbarukan bisa digunakan sebagai solusi mengurangi ketergantungan pada bahan bakar fosil dengan cara menggunakan sumber hidroelektrik seperti penggunaan turbin vertikal berjenis Darrieus. Turbin Darrieus memiliki kelemahan yaitu kesulitan memulai awal putaran (self starting) pada rotornya karena berbasis gaya angkat. Studi ini menyelidiki pengaruh penambahan pengarah Omni Directional Guide Vanes (ODGV) dengan jumlah guide vanes dan besar sudut berbeda-beda terhadap turbin Darrieus dengan tujuan dapat menekan kelemahannya. Studi ini menggunakan turbin Darrieus 2 (dua) airfoil dan 3 (tiga) airfoil dengan profil NACA 0012 untuk diujikan di aliran air pada saluran prismatik. Hasil uji eksperimental menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan pengarah dengan perbandingan 1/6 celah ODGV (6 guide vanes) dan sudut 0 º mengakibatkan bertambahnya nilai Coefficient of Power  (Cp) dan nilai Tip Speed Ratio (TSR), sehingga mampu meningkatkan Cp rata-rata lebih besar 34,25% dari turbin Darrieus konvensional. Namun seiring bertambahnya jumlah guide vanes dan besar sudut membuat performa turbin menurun. Pengarah ODGV mampu meningkatkan nilai TSR sehingga dapat mengoptimalkan gaya angkat pada turbin.

Abstract

The Kahayan River is able to attract the attention of tourists and the people of Palangka Raya City through its natural potentials and portraits of community life on the riverside area. The Kahayan River has natural potential such as rivers, green open space, as a city buffer area, as well as cultural tourism, namely the uniqueness of settlements on the riverside area. The purpose of the service is to map the natural tourism potential of the Kahayan River area, Pahandut Seberang Village. The activity is located in Pahandut Seberang Village, Palangka Raya City. The method used is qualitative by describing descriptively and the stages of activities include: (a) preparation stage; (b) implementation stage; (c) post-implementation stage. The analysis and synthesis include descriptive elaboration of in-depth interview data with the community and village civil servant and the results of observational studies. The analysis applied to service activities include: (a) mapping analysis of the existing potential of the area, (b) mapping analysis of river tourism potential in Pahandut Seberang Village, (c) figure ground analysis of tourism potential in the Kahayan Riverside area, and (d) analysis of green open space tourism in Pahandut Seberang Village, Palangka Raya City. The output of this service activity provides a learning process for mapping the potential of natural tourism, analyzing the identification map of natural tourism, and analyzing the concept of nature tourism in Pahandut Seberang Village based on sustainable local wisdom.
