Abstract

Sago is a potential source of food with high calories and carbohydrates (rice equivalent). Sago consumer preferences can provide important information in making marketing strategy sago, and also is one of the indicators of market demand for the products of sago. The purpose of this study were to understand the srage of the purchase decision process undertaken by consumers of sago; analyze the level of customer satisfaction with sago attributes associated from sago; and analyze the consumer preference for various atrributes inherent in sago. The study was conducted in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi Province. Respondents were all members of a population of 21 respondents consisting of 15 restaurant owners who provide meals made from sago and 6 owners agro-industry made from raw sago. The study used Engel Model Analysis, Costumer Satisfaction Index (CSI) Analysis, and Conjoint Analysis. The results of the analysis gives an overview of some consumer behavior based on the decision-making process shows that the benefits sought in the purchase buy sago sago is as a raw material to be processed into a menu of traditional food and traditional cakes Kendari. Color sago is the main thing, which will be seen and considered by consumers to make purchases between and will buy sago in traditional markets as close to the place of business. The level of consumer satisfaction in this study were satisfied with the preference category that consumers like sago with normal color (pure white), normal scent (odorless), low prices and package sizes are 20 kg. The resulting combination of sago four attributes (color, flavor, price and package sizes) is acceptable to describe consumers' desire sago in Kendari. Abstract

The research aims to know the competitiveness of seaweed farming in south Konawe regency. The population of this research is all of seaweed farmers in south Konawe which account for 498 farmers; while, the number of samples is 221 farmers. Samples were selected by Cluster Random Sampling method which then chosen randomly by means of Simple Random Sampling method. Type and data source used is primary and secondary data. The data was technically collected by direct interview with respondents and study literature. The variable comprises of respondent’s identity (age, education level, number of family dependents, and farming experience) and Competitiveness of seaweed farming (revenue, input tradable cost,input non tradable cost, private prices and sosial prices). The data analysis is the Policy Analysis Matrix. Competitively and comparatively, seaweed farming in south Konawe regency is relatively competitive. This can be seen from the value of Privat Cost Rasio namely 0,34 and the value of Domestic Resources Cost Ratio which is 0,26 or less than one.Keywords: Competitiveness; Farming; Seaweed

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in the income of small crabs fishing between those using traps and gill nets, and to determine the feasibility of catching small crabs. The study was conducted in March 2020 in Bajo Indah Village, Soropia Subdistrict, Konawe Regency. The population in this study, for trap fishermen as many as 25 people and gill net fishermen as many as 25 people. The sampling method was cluster random sampling. The number of samples for trap fishermen is 10 people and gill nets are 10 people. The data collected is the number of inputs, outputs, costs, revenues, and incomes. Data collection was carried out by means of interviews and documentation. Data analysis used the t-test with a confidence level of 95 percent or α = 0.05. The results of the study show that the income of small crab fishing between those using traps and gill nets is significantly different. The business of catching small crabs using gill net fishing gear is more feasible to operate than traps.Keywords: crab; traps and gill nets; income; different tests; feasibility

Abstract

Sago is one of plants that produce carbohydrate and has important role for Indonesia daily diet after rice, corn, and cassavas. Konawe Regency is one of the potential to grow sago in Indonesia, with the largest area covered 40,06 percent from the total of the land of sago in the Province of Southeast Sulawesi 5.024 ha. The purposes of the study were to analyze the supporting power of the land of sago in Konawe Regency; analyze the ratio of employeent absorbtion; analyze the income of the farmers of sago processor. The study was conducted in Besulutu Sub-District Konawe Regency. The population was the farmers and the owner of sago involved intoo sago enterpreneurship. The technique of sample was determined by using purposive sampling method. The data was analyzed by using descriptive analysis. Results of the research shown that the supporting power of sago plantation based on actual income to fulfill the need of the farmers was about 9 person/hectare/year. In general, the absorbtion of the employement in sago entrepreneurship was about 4 HKP/cycle of the production with the averages number 892 HOK/hectare/year, while the optimalization of the employement total absorbed was 1.784 HOK/hectare/year. The income of the farmer from sago entrepreneurship in one cycle of the production was Rp 3.493.000,-Keywords

Abstract

This study aims to describe the competence of farmers in pepper farming. The research location was in the Kosebo Village, Angata Subdistrict, Konawe Selatan District that was chosen purposively, with the consideration that the village was the center of pepper production in Konawe Selatan Regency. The study population is all pepper farmers, amounting to 300 people. The sampling technique is done by simple random sampling. Determination of the number of samples using the Slovin formula to obtain a sample of 75 pepper farmers. The research variables consisted of 2 (two) competencies, namely the level of knowledge and skills of farmers in terms of aspects of cultivation techniques, starting from land preparation/planting hole, climbing pole planting, seed selection/ planting, plant maintenance (pest and disease control) to harvesting. Data analysis was performed descriptively qualitative. The results showed that the level of knowledge and skills of farmers who were well understood and mastered related to pepper cultivation, namely aspects of land preparation/planting hole, climbing pole planting, selection of seeds, planting and harvesting, while aspects of crop maintenance specifically control of stem rot rot were not yet understood and well controlled by farmers.Keywords: competence; farmers; pepper farming

Abstract

The preference of quail egg’s consumer could be determined by measuring the consumer choice.  This preference could illustrate the attribute of quail egg that could be produced by producer and accepted by consumer.  The aims of this study were to analyze the attitude and behavior of the customer in case of buying quail egg, analyze the level of self interest and satisfaction of the customer to the quail egg attribute, and analyze the customer preference on a variety of the quail egg attributes. Data collected in Kendari, South East Sulawesi and were analyzed using Fishbein Multiattribute Attitude analysis, IPA analysis (Importance Performance Analysis), and Conjoint Analysis.  The result of Fishbein Multiattribute Attitude Analysis indicated that the 61,91% consumers were fond of quail egg. In average, the acceptabiity of the customer to the quail egg was ‘quite good’ and the behavior of the customer was consistent but they to re-buy the quail egg. While the result of IPA analysis (Importance Performance Analysis) showed that the most important and the most satisfine attribute of quail egg for customer was colourful attribute. The result of Conjoint Analysis revealed that the preference of the quail egg customer in Kendari City was the quail egg with low price, seasonal availability, less than 10 gram in weight, colourful and unpacking. Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze of input affected the This study aims to analyze the effect of inputs on production, and to analyze the allocative efficiency of input use in the fence net cages farming. The study was conducted in Nambo District, Kendari City, from April 2020 to June 2021. The population in this study were farmers of fence net cages. The sample was determined using simple random sampling technique. The number of samples selected as many as 64 respondents. Data was analyzed using multiple non-linear regression and allocative efficiency. The results showed that together, the number of seeds, the amount of shrimp head feed, the amount of trash fish feed, the number of labours and the area of the cage had an significant effect on the production of fence net cages farming. Partially, only the number of seeds and trash fish feed had a significant effect, while the amount of shrimp head feed, labors and cage area had no significant effect. The amount of seed and trash fish feed that is used allocatively is not efficient, so it needs to be increased its use. Abstract

Study of the sago starch value chain can help determine the sago value chain and the added value of sago processing, so that it can be an effort to maintain the sustainability of the sago industry. The study was carried out in April 2022–January 2023 in Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi. The study population consists of 3 (three) categories, namely farmers, sago flour processors, and traders. Sample determination was carried out using the census method. The variables observed are input prices, production costs, output prices, added value, marketing volume, marketing costs. The analysis used is value chain analysis, added value, and marketing efficiency. The study results show that the sago starch value chain in Kendari City consists of 3 (three) segments, namely the upstream segment which includes raw material suppliers, namely farmers, the middle segment which has added value processes, and finally the downstream segment. The main actors in this value chain consist of farmers, home industries and distributors. The added value carried out in the process of processing sago stems into sago flour is IDR. 17,461.89 per kg obtained at Kube Maju Bersama, higher than the added value at UD. Konawe Songgi (Rp. 17,320.8 per kg) and UD. Dani Putra (Rp. 17,261.56 per kg). All sago starch processing industries in Kendari City are said to have efficient marketing, as indicated by a marketing efficiency value of < 33 percent. Keywords: value chain; value-added; efficiency
