Abstract

This research was motivated by the observations of researchers when carrying out learning at SMP Negeri 2 Tuhemberua where the learning carried out did not involve fully active students so that the ability to understand concepts and students' motivation to learn was still lacking. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning learning model on students' learning motivation and understanding of mathematical concepts. This type of research is experimental research using quasi experimental research. The study population was all students of class VIII which consisted of 4 classes with a sample of 2 classes taken by random sampling, namely class VIII-A as the experimental class and class VIII-C as the control class. The data were collected through (1) a student learning motivation questionnaire which was analyzed using a Likert scale, (2) a student's mathematical concept understanding test which was analyzed based on the score of the student's mathematical concept understanding ability test which means "Understanding students' mathematical concepts using the Problem Based learning model. Learning is better than using conventional learning models”.

Abstract

Law No. 20 of 2003 on the National Education System mandates inclusive education for children with special needs (ABK) in order to optimize their potential. However, the learning process for kids with mental retardation is hampered by the lack of new learning resources. Thus, a solution is provided by the MathAlfa program with Integrated Video Augmented Reality (AR). In addition to promoting the use of technology in inclusive education, MathAlfa is intended to improve the learning achievement, comprehension, and engagement of children with mental retardation. It is anticipated that features like materials, AR films, and quizzes that rely on visual recognition and direct interaction will be able to give students with mental retardation a more engaging, inclusive, and adaptive learning environment. One technology that has great potential in supporting learning for students with intellectual disabilities is Augmented Reality (AR). AR is a technology that combines virtual objects with real environments in real-time, providing a more immersive interactive experience. By using AR, students can interact directly with learning materials that are visualized in the form of 3D objects, videos, or animations, which can help them understand abstract concepts more concretely and visually.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the understanding of flat shape concepts among fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 065853 Medan through the use of Puzzle and Tubopin media. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), consisting of two cycles. Each cycle includes the stage of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research instruments include observation, tests, and documentation. The results of the study indicate an improvement in students’ conceptual understanding, with the average score increasing from 55.50 in the pre-cycle to 78.75 in the second cycle. The percentage of students meeting the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) also increased from 30% to 85%. This proves that the use of Puzzle and Tubopin media is effective in making the learning process more enjoyable, interactive, and meaningful.

Abstract

This classroom action research aimed to improve the conceptual understanding of three-dimensional shapes among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 065853 Medan through the use of PANJARBARU (Three-Dimensional Net Boards) as a concrete learning medium. The study employed the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted over two cycles. Data collection techniques included observation and written tests (pre-test and post-test). The results indicated a significant improvement in students' conceptual understanding, with the average post-test score increasing from 71.78 in the first cycle to 81.78 in the second cycle. The percentage of students achieving the minimum mastery criterion (KKM) rose from 57% to 85%. The use of PANJARBARU effectively facilitated students’ spatial visualization skills by allowing them to construct 3D objects from 2D nets, thereby enhancing both engagement and learning outcomes.
