Abstract

This study aims to improve sixth-grade students’ conceptual understanding of Earth's rotation and revolution through the use of a concrete learning media called the Earth Rotation and Revolution Board (PAROREB). The research was conducted using Classroom Action Research (CAR) in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ understanding. The average pre-test score of 53.57 increased to 68.21 in the first cycle and 82.50 in the second. The percentage of students achieving the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) rose from 35.7% in the pre-cycle to 42.85% in cycle I and reached 85% in cycle II. PAROREB proved effective not only in enhancing learning outcomes but also in fostering active participation and student confidence during the learning process. Thus, this media can serve as a relevant and efficient alternative for teaching natural science topics in elementary school, particularly Earth’s rotation and revolution.

Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve students’ understanding of cultural diversity in Indonesia, particularly regarding ethnic groups and culinary traditions, through the use of the Indonesian Ethnic and Culinary Map Media (META SUKI). The study was conducted in two cycles with fourth-grade students of SD Negeri 065853 Medan. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected using tests, observations, and documentation. The results showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes. The average score increased from 57.25 in the pre-test to 70.25 in the first cycle post-test, and further to 78.75 in the second cycle post-test. The percentage of students achieving the minimum passing grade (KKM) improved from 30% to 80%. These findings indicate that the use of META SUKI media effectively enhances students’ cognitive understanding, engagement, and motivation in learning about Indonesia's cultural richness. The media also supports multisensory learning and fosters collaboration and active participation among students.

Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve second-grade students’ conceptual understanding of money value at SD Negeri 065853 Medan through the use of the "Bolon Cafe" learning media. The study was conducted in two cycles, each involving planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. “Bolon Cafe” is a culturally-based concrete media inspired by Batak Toba traditional food, incorporating role-play and money simulation activities. The findings indicate a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes. The average test scores increased from 56.68 in the pre-cycle to 67.04 in the first cycle post-test, and to 80 in the second cycle. The mastery percentage rose from 36% to 80%. The application of this media not only enhanced students’ cognitive understanding of the concept of money but also promoted active engagement, collaboration, and improved affective and psychomotor domains. Thus, "Bolon Cafe" has proven to be an effective and contextually relevant instructional tool in Indonesian language learning at the elementary level.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' understanding of the concept of cultural diversity in Indonesia through the implementation of the Cultural Diversity Map media in Grade II of SD Negeri 065853 Medan. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach carried out in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The results indicate a significant improvement in students’ comprehension after using the map media. The average post-test score increased from 67.25 in cycle I to 80.22 in cycle II, and learning mastery rose from 59.09% to 82%. The Cultural Diversity Map was proven to be effective in providing a concrete and enjoyable learning experience, while also supporting the visual and kinesthetic learning styles common in elementary school students. These findings suggest that the use of map media is an appropriate alternative in teaching Pancasila Education, especially on cultural diversity topics in primary schools.

Abstract

This research presents the development of a smart monitoring system for real-time tide observation using Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The system is designed to monitor sea level fluctuations continuously and transmit data wirelessly to a cloud-based platform for remote access and analysis. The hardware consists of ultrasonic sensors for water level measurement, a microcontroller for data processing, and wireless communication modules for data transmission. The collected data can be accessed through a web-based dashboard or mobile application, enabling users to monitor tidal patterns from anywhere at any time. The system also incorporates alert notifications when water levels reach predetermined thresholds, providing early warning capabilities for coastal communities. Testing results demonstrate that the system can accurately measure tidal changes with minimal error and successfully transmit data in real-time. This IoT-based tide monitoring system offers a cost-effective and efficient solution for oceanographic observation, coastal management, and disaster mitigation applications. The implementation of this technology contributes to improved maritime safety, fishing activities planning, and environmental monitoring in coastal areas.
