Abstract

Permasalahan yang dihadapi Pulau Buku Limau dalam pengembangan pariwisata adalah belum terorganisirnya dengan baik setiap elemen-elemen ataupun aktor pengembangan pariwisata. Perlu adanya upaya untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut melalui program pemberdayaan masyatakat. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat memiliki tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui Community Based Tourism dalam upaya pengembangan pariwisata Pulau Buku Limau, Kabupaten Belitung Timur. Metode campuran diterapkan sebagai metode pengabdian kepada masyarakat, yakni FGD, dan observasi, yang kemudian analisis melalui metode kualitatif deskriptif. Lebih lanjut, pendekatan yang dapat digunakan dalam pengembangan pariwisata adalah pendekatan Community Based Tourism, yakni: (1) Tahap persiapan merupakan tahapan yang dilakukan sebelum pelaksanaan kegiatan sosialisasi dan pelatihan; (2) Tahap pelatihan yang berbagai stakeholder dalam penguatan kelembagaan, dan pelatihan peningkatan keterampilam, baik softskill maupun hardskill; serta (3) Tahap evaluasi pasca pelatihan, dilakukan dalam rangka mengevaluasi kegiatan pemberdayaan masyarakat yang telah dilakukan mulai dari persiapan sampai dengan selesai kegiatan. Hasil pengabdian kepada masyarakat menunjukkan bahwa terlaksananya pelatihan peningkatan softskill berdasarkan kegiatan penyuluhan dan sosialisasi untuk meningkatkan pemahaman mengenai pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui community based tourism dalam upaya pengembangan pariwisata. Selain itu juga, dilakukan melalui pemberian pengetahuan kepada masyarakat bagaimana memberikan pelayanan kepada wisatawan, baik pemberian informasi mengenai pariwisata, pemberian atraksi pariwisata, dan pemberian pelayanan akomodasi pendukung pariwisata. Sedangkan peningkatan hardskill dengan melakukan pelatihan membangun kelembagaan dan partisipasi masyarakat dalam pengembangan pariwisata. Lebih lanjut, dilakukannya kegiatan peningkatan keterampilan melalui produksi cinderamata khas daerah atau lokal sebagai salah satu aspek pendukung pariwisata Pulau Buku Limau, seperti gantungan kunci yang terbuat dari benang katun macrame dan kulit kerang. Penerapan Community Based Tourism dapat meningkatkan pendapatan individu dalam membangun kekuatan ekonomi, serta menggeserkan nilai nilai wisatawan dan pelayanan terhadap wisatawan. Pemberdayaan melalui komunitas-komunitas di Pulau Buku Limau merupakan model pembangunan masyarakat yang memanfaatkan potensi-potensi sumber daya manusia untuk meningkatan ekonomi kreatif dan keunikan yang dimiliki oleh destinasi wisata dalam pengembangan pariwisata.

Abstract

In Central Bangka, The red chili pepper’s productivity is still considered at low level. It is corroborated from comparison between the productivity of red chili pepper which is computed as 35.6 quintal per hectare while the potential productivity of the genetics of red chili pepper is 200-220 quintal per hectare. It is presumed that the productivity of red chili pepper is technically inefficient. The aim of the study is to analyze factors that affect the production of red chili pepper and the technical inefficiency. The study also determines the level of technical efficiency of red chili pepper on smallholders who participate in the agriculture productivity improvement program in Central Bangka Regency. Survey was carried out to collect the data with purposive sampling method. The criteria of respondents were those red chili pepper smallholders who had involved with the agriculture productivity improvement program. The total sampled respondents were 43 smallholders. Stochastic frontier analysis with the Maximum Likelihood Estimate was used to analyze the data. The study discovered the factors that affect the production of red chili pepper were labor, potassium fertilizer, insecticide, and fungicide. Furthermore, the productivity of red chili pepper was considered as technically inefficient which was shown from the average score of technical efficient, 0.54. Finally, the study revealed that side job became factor that could increase the technical inefficiency of red chili pepper farming activity while the frequency of attending the empowerment program and farmer field school were otherwise.

Abstract

East Timur Village has pristine mangrove areas. It has much potential that can be developed, one of which is mangrove ecotourism which is directly managed by the people of East Kurau Village. Mangrove ecotourism still need to optimize its potential tourism destination object. The research aims to formulate a development strategy for Mangrove Ecotourism in East Kurau Village, Koba District, Central Bangka Regency. The research uses a qualitative approach with IFAS (Internal Factors Analysis Strategy) and EFAS (External Factors Analysis Strategy). The data is collected through in-depth interviews with related stakeholders, questionnaires distributed to tourists, and field observations. Moreover, the indicators used to measure the data include accessibility, infrastructure, and other supporting aspects. The ecotourism strategy is answered using the SWOT analysis method. The results from matrix calculations of IFAS and EFAS show that the value of the X-axis was 0.93 and of the Y-axis was 0.88. This indicates that the strategic position was at the quadrant I, with the strategic formulation of S-O (aggressive strategy). Some strategies have been formulated, including: Supporting mangrove conservation and creative economic business management; Establishing cooperation in providing supporting infrastructure; Optimizing cooperation in providing education on the benefits of mangroves; and Increasing the government’s commitment to mangrove development.

Abstract

The local authorities are promoting Buku Limau Island as an emerging tourist site. The island's distinguishing features include stunning coral reefs, picturesque white sandy beaches, and its role as a hub for the production of salted and fresh seafood. The objective of this study is to identify and describe the natural and cultural attractions on Buku Limau Island, particularly in the Manggar Subdistrict of East Belitung Regency. Additionally, the study seeks to examine social networks in order to facilitate the development and expansion of natural and cultural tourism destinations in the area. This research employs a mixed-method approach, utilizing data gathering approaches such as observation, focus group discussions (FGD), and surveys administered through questionnaires. UCINET program was used to conduct descriptive qualitative analysis and social network analysis to identify and reveal tourist characteristics. This is followed by the breakdown and study of social networks among stakeholders and interest groups. The findings of this study indicate that Buku Limau Island exhibits attributes of both natural and cultural tourism, with the predominant population of fishermen being of Bugis ethnicity. The identification and study of social networks demonstrate that stakeholders have formed networks to actively support and cultivate tourism attractions, encompassing both natural and cultural aspects. Nevertheless, there are still certain stakeholders who have not been engaged in the network throughout the process of developing and improving the tourism destination.  The research limits are deliberately established to enhance the study's focus and depth. The information and data acquired are directly relevant to the fundamental issue of this investigation. The scope of this study is limited to the creation of natural and cultural tourism centered around social networks on Buku Limau Island. Theoretical implications shed light on the ideas of local government assistance, social networks, and tourist attractions. Meanwhile, the practical consequences surely affect the government, tourism stakeholders, and the community in their efforts to promote the growth of natural and cultural tourism through social networks on Buku Limau Island.

Abstract

Rice serves as the main dietary staple for most Indonesians. The preference of environmentally conscious consumers reflects their liking or disliking of the different types of rice available. Satisfaction, in this context, refers to consumers' evaluations of their expectations when purchasing and consuming rice. It involves comparing their level of satisfaction with the actual performance of the rice after consumption. The study aims to analyze the eco-friendly preference and consumer satisfaction with the attributes of rice in Toboali Bangka Selatan. Convenience sampling was applied to collect the respondents of the study. Convenience Sampling was the technique where the sampling was conducted on consumers who were currently at home and willing to fill out the provided questionnaire. Surveys conducted through direct personal interactionTop of Form, observation, and focus group discussion were employed as the data collection technique. Importance-performance analysis (IPA) and customer satisfaction index (CSI) were used in processing the data. The study revealed that the eco-friendly preference and the quality of the eco-friendly rice had a positive impact on total consumer satisfaction which was fulfilled by the attributes of rice with 69 %. The rest such as price, taste, and ease of access were not satisfied as the important attributes were not well performed. Furthermore, the CSI score illustrated that the satisfaction of eco-friendly consumers in all classes was at the “satisfied” status.

Abstract

Consumer preferences can assist a business in understanding the attributes that are essential or desired by consumers. The decision of a consumer to choose a product is closely related to the preferences of an individual consumer. An example of a commodity in the agricultural sector that has the potential to influence consumer preferences is rice. This study aims to identify the attributes that are preferred by consumers in the decision to purchase rice, considering the importance level of each attribute, in Toboali District, South Bangka Regency. The sampling method used in this research was judgment sampling. Data collection techniques include interviews, questionnaires, observations, and focus group discussions. Data processing in this study uses Conjoint Analysis. The results showed that consumer preferences for rice products were based on certified rice, packaged in sacks, 5 kg in size, and had a tender texture.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship is one of the human capital variables of pepper farmers that plays an important role in determining the success of pepper agribusiness development in this creative era. To face the challenges of the business climate change, pepper farmers need entrepreneurship. The objectives compiled in this study are to identify the entrepreneurial characteristics of Muntok White Pepper farmers and to analyze the effect of entrepreneurial characteristics on their entrepreneurial behavior in managing to farm. The study was conducted by survey method, involving 115 farmers. Data analysis used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS). The results showed that the entrepreneurial characteristics of pepper farmers are risk-taking, responsive to opportunities, innovative, and motivated. Also, the results showed that the entrepreneurial characteristics of pepper farmers positively and significantly influence their entrepreneurial behavior. Furthermore, the most dominant variable reflecting their entrepreneurial characteristics is the courage to take risks. This study recommends muntok pepper farmers that they always dare to take risks, be persistent and disciplined. Additionally, knowledge and skills need to be constantly updated to grow the ability to innovate and be creative in carrying pepper cultivation activities out.

Abstract

Currently, the performance of the pepper Muntok business continues to decline from time to time. This condition needs to be supported by studying the characteristics of farmers as human resources who carry out business planning and decision-making faced with various threats, challenges, and uncertainties. This study aims to 1) determine personal characteristics; 2) analyze the effect of personal characteristics on entrepreneurial behavior, 3) analyze the effect of personal characteristics and entrepreneurial behavior of farmers on business performance; and 4) analyze the effect of entrepreneurial behavior on business performance. The research method uses a survey method involving 90 farmers. Data analysis was carried out using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) through Smart Partial Least squares (PLS). The results showed that the personal characteristics of the dominant farmer were strongly reflected by indicators of ethnic origin, experience, and age. Personal characteristics positively and significantly contribute to entrepreneurial behavior, and positive entrepreneurial behavior significantly influences business performance. The study results did not directly influence personal characteristics on business performance but through entrepreneurial behavior. Furthermore, the indicator variables of ethnic origin, experience, and age affect discipline, persistence, perseverance, interest in seeking and increasing knowledge, and mastery of technical skills, which can ultimately determine the level of business productivity and the desire to grow through business expansion. Before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, the entrepreneurial behavior of farmers was still strongly shaped by cognitive and affective variables. It is necessary to increase the skills of farmers through training and entrepreneurship development that pays attention to personal characteristics to improve business performance. This study can recommend the Agriculture Office of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province in formulating policies to increase the productivity of pepper plants and the welfare of pepper farmers in the future.
