Abstract

This study aims to determine the efficacy of jatropha curcas L. cream in the maturation phase of healing of mice leather injuries. This study used nine rats with 3 treatments, ie treatment group I smeared cream base (P1), treatment group II smeared 0.1% sulfadiazine cream (P2) and treatment group III smeared jatropha curcas 10% (P3). The result of ANAVA test of treatment I, treatment II and treatment III had significant effect (P 0,05) on fibroblast cells but each treatment group on collagen density level showed significant effect (P 0.01). Duncan test results on fibroblasts, P3 was significantly different (P 0.05) with P2 and P3, whereas the results on P3 collagen density were significantly different (P 0.01) with P2 and P1. The conclusion that 10% jatropha gum cream for 10 days can decrease the number of fibroblast cells and increase the amount of collagen thus accelerate the process of maturation phase of healing of mice leather injuries.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to examine glucose level in dog's blood before and after hunting activity. This research used 25 local dogs which is kept by Persatuan Olah Raga Buru Babi (PORBI) located at Kenagarian Mungo Sub-district Luak District Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota West Sumatera. Data were analyzed with T-test. Results showed that average of dog blood glucose level before hunting was 91.56±7.70 mg/dl and significantly decrease (P0.05) to 57.84±5.04 mg/dL after hunting activity. As a conclusion, blood glucose level of dog before hunting activity was found in normal range but lowered glucose level were observed after hunting activity.

Abstract

A wound is a damage to the integrity of the epithelium of the skin. There are three phases of wound healing process, the first phase is inflammatory phase, the second phase is fibroplasia phase, and the third is maturation phase. Inflammation that occurs during the wound healing process should be limited because it would cause the wound to undergo an abnormal healing process and pathological inflammation if it persists. The aim of this study was to determine the efficacy of jatropha (Jatropha curcas L.) sap cream on total differential leucocytes in inflammatory phase of wound healing on mice skin. The method used was literature study using qualitatSive methods. Data used in this study refers to the result of studies which have been conducted and published in national and international online journal. Result of data analysis showed that Jatropha sap cream was effectively limiting and  inhibiting the leucocytes accumulation in inflammatory area and stimulated new blood vessels formation (angiogenesis) in inflammatory phase of wound healing in mice skin. Based on the result of this study, it can be concluded that the Jatropha sap cream could reduce the number of differential leucocytes in inflammatory phase of wound healing on mice skin.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of using Moringa leaves fermented flour in feed stock toward the increasing level of hemoglobin and hematocrit value on broiler chickens. This study used a completely randomized design that consists of 4 treatments and 5 replications. The study group was divided into group P0 which was given with 100% of commercial feed, group P1 was given 95% of commercial feed and Moringa leaves fermented flour 5%, group P2 was given 92.5% of commercial feed and Moringa leaves fermented flour 7.5%, and group P3 was given 90% of commercial feed and Moringa leaves fermented flour 10%. Fermentation using EM4 (Effective Microorganism-4) were able to decrease the crude fiber of Moringa leaves flour. The treatment was conducted for 15 days, then hemoglobin levels and hematocrit values were counted. Data were analyzed using ANOVA completely randomized design with SPSS for Windows 16.0. This research showed that giving Moringa leaves fermented flour for 15 days did not have a significally effect (P0.05). The given Moringa leaves fermented flour in  feed for 15 days with 5%, 7.5% and 10% concentration was not show any increase in the levels of hemoglobin and hematocrit values.

Abstract

This study aim to know the efficacy of the jatropha sap cream toward the inflammatory phase of wound healing on the skin of mice. This study used 9 male mice, with 25-40 grams weights and 2-3 months old.  Male mice receiveddivided into 3 groups, and3 deuteronomy. The cut is done in the back as 2 cm long. Wound care is done twice a day at 08.00 am and at 18.00 pm for 3 days. The treatment I (PI) cuts smeared a cream base (as a negatif control); treatment II (PII) smeared 10% jatropha sap cream; and the treatment III (PIII) smeared 0.1% sulfadiazine  (as a positive control).Created a skin sample preparation microtechnic stained with hematoxylin-eosin (HE). The result on the number of infiltration of inflammatory cells and neovascular on PI; PII; and PIII were 402,00 ± 7,21 and 14,00 ± 5,57; 248,67 ± 1,53 and 34,67 ± 7,51; and 343,00 ± 8,89 and 28,00 ± 5,00  (P0,01). Based on the result it be concluded the treatment of 10% jatropha sap cream can speed up the process of the inflammatory phase of wound healing in the skin of mice.
