Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Project-Based Learning (STEM-PjBL) model in enhancing students' critical thinking skills through the contextual integration of bir pletok, a traditional beverage known for supporting digestive health. A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted using the PRISMA 2020 protocol, analyzing 30 scientific articles that met defined inclusion criteria. The analysis revealed that STEM-PjBL significantly improves students' critical thinking, particularly in the domains of analysis, evaluation, and inference. Incorporating bir pletok as a learning context provided authentic, culturally relevant experiences that bridged scientific concepts with local wisdom. Key factors influencing learning success included the use of technology, personalized learning strategies, and the integration of indigenous knowledge. These findings contribute both theoretically and practically to the design of holistic and contextual 21st-century learning models that are sustainable and culturally responsive.

Abstract

This study investigates the integration of the traditional Goyang Karawang dance (GoKar) into biology education, particularly in teaching the human musculoskeletal system. Using a qualitative case study approach informed by ethnobiological and ethnopedagogical frameworks, data were collected through performance observations, interviews with dance artists and high school biology teachers, and document analysis. The analysis focused on the biomechanics and socio-cognitive meanings of core GoKar movements. Findings reveal that the dance involves coordinated actions of key muscle groups and joints, such as agonist-antagonist pairs and postural control centered in the hip and shoulder areas. Simultaneously, each movement expresses cultural values of grace, confidence, and balance, reflecting Sundanese philosophies of harmony. These embodied elements connect scientific anatomical knowledge with students’ lived cultural experiences. The research contributes to culturally responsive pedagogy by offering an experiential learning model that supports conceptual understanding while reinforcing local wisdom as a valid epistemic resource. This integration aligns with the goals of Indonesia’s Merdeka Curriculum and the Profile of Pancasila Students, promoting critical thinking, autonomy, and appreciation of cultural diversity. Overall, the study offers a transdisciplinary approach to science education that is inclusive, contextual, and pedagogically meaningful.

Abstract

Environmental education plays a crucial role in shaping the character of students as the next generation, enabling them to be aware and concerned about environmental sustainability. Through environmental education, students are equipped not only with theoretical knowledge but also with practical values and skills to encourage them to become agents of change. This study aims to examine the Gunungkidul region as a source of local potential learning information on the topic of environmental change in science or biology learning materials for students. To support its learning activities, this study also adopts environmental education learning trends that can be used as part of efforts to build sustainable environmental education. This research is a literature review, focusing on articles published between 2020 and 2025 to ensure the data used is current and relevant. The results of the study indicate that the Gunungkidul region has great potential as a source of information for science or biology learning for students. In terms of environmental education learning, there are approaches, models, teaching materials, and learning media that teachers can choose or combine to improve the effectiveness of environmental education learning, especially on the topic of environmental change, with the hope that there will be no more gaps in the student learning process, so that student learning outcomes can be more meaningful and sustainable to support environmental sustainability in the future.

Abstract

Kombinasi konsentrasi 1,5 ppm 2,4-D + 1 ppm BAP mampu menghasilkan diameter tunas paling baik.

Abstract

The andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium), also known locally as toba-toba, is a species endemic to North Sumatra, Indonesia, possessing a significant diversity of phytochemical compounds. This study aims to conduct a systematic review of the phytochemical content of andaliman and evaluate its potential for developing contextual biology education, specifically the topic of chemotaxonomy at the secondary education level. The research employed a systematic literature review protocol based on a search of national and international journals published between 2015 and early 2025. The results indicate significant phytochemical variation in andaliman (especially essential oils, alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and terpenoids) in highland populations, supporting the concept of chemotaxonomy. Although chemotaxonomy is globally established, its integration into science education in Indonesia, particularly in teaching plant classification using local phytochemical data, remains limited. This gap highlights the potential for developing biology teaching materials that integrate taxonomic concepts with local wisdom, which can substantially enhance scientific literacy and foster an appreciation for Indonesia's biodiversity.
