Abstract

The study investigates the moderating effect of celebrity preference and hedonism personality on the relationship between perceived intrusiveness, consumer attention, and intention to purchase internet users by applying SOR Theory as a foundation. This study focuses on K-Popers among teenagers. A total of 400 samples were used in this study. The sample is split into two groups, with 200 samples including advertisements that fit the respondents' preferences and have a high hedonism personality and 200 samples containing advertisements that didn’t fit the respondents' preferences and have a low hedonism personality. Multi-group moderation was performed using AMOS ver.22 with the stats tools package software, and data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 16. As expected, the higher the level of distraction perceived by the user, the lower consumer attention to the advertisement. In contrast, the less distracted individuals are, the more attention they pay to commercials. Then, the more individuals pay attention to the ads, the more likely they are to make a purchase. According to additional research, celebrity preference and hedonism personality are proven to be moderate.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the moderating effect of celebrity preferences on the relationship between perceived intrusiveness, consumer attention, and intent to purchase by applying Stimulus-Organism-Responds (SOR) Theory as a foundation. A total of 310 questionnaires were used in this study. This study uses the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) Analysis approach by dividing a sample into two groups: (1) preference and (2) non-preference. A total of 155 samples filled out advertisements that matched respondents’ preferences and 155 samples filled out advertisements that did not match respondents’ preferences. The finding of this study are: (a) perceived intrusiveness is negatively affects consumer attention, (b) consumer attention positively affect intent to purchase, (c) celebrity preference moderates the effect of perceived intrusiveness on consumer attention, in a way that the higher celebrity preference will reduce the effect of perceived intrusiveness on consumer attention, and (d) celebrity preference moderates the influence of consumer attention on intent to purchase, in a way that the higher celebrity preference will strengthen the influence of consumer attention on intent to purchase. This finding could indicate the presence of intrusive advertising if the ad matches the preferences of the audience, then the ad will still get the attention of the audience and even affect the consumer's intention to buy.

This study aims to analyze the financial performance of Indonesian manufacturing companies after and before the global economic crisis of 2008. In this study, financial performance is measured by Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE) and Net Profit Margin (NPM). By comparing the average ROA, ROE and NPM before after and before the crisis, the results of testing with descriptive analysis can be stated that ROA, ROE and NPM after the crisis are higher than before the crisis. Thus financial performance after crisis has increased compared to before the crisis. Based on descriptive analysis, it can be found that the performance of financial manufacturing companies after the the crisis is better than before crisis. Based on the t test, the results of testing on ROA, ROE and NPM are as follows. First, the ROA after the crisis showed greater than before the 2008 global economic crisis and the increase was said to be significant. Second, the ROE after the crisis showed greater than before the global economic crisis, but was not statistically significant. Third, the NPM after the crisis also showed greater than before the crisis, but it was not statistically significant. Thus, the finding with the t test shows that financial performance as measured by ROA, its performance after the crisis increases compared to before the crisis.

Abstract

Islam is a comprehensive religion that covers not only the ritual worship aspect but also ethics and acts of business. The field of Islamic work ethics has been studied by many researchers in different study settings. However, the important role of Islamic work ethics has been underexplored in work commitment studies. Therefore, this study aims to examine the direct and indirect effect of Islamic work ethics in affecting employees work performance and turnover intention through work commitment. This study used the quantitative method as their main research design. Purposive sampling was applied as a sampling technique with a five-point Likert scale of the structured questionnaire as a measurement scale and data gathering method. The bootstrap method used to test the proposed hypotheses. This study concluded that Islamic work ethic positively affects work commitment, thus work commitment positively affects work performance. This study also found that there was an insignificant effect of Islamic work ethic on work performance and turnover intention, and work commitment on turnover intention. Fundamentally, the mediation role of work commitment failed to prove in this study as there were only significant indirect effects between Islamic work ethic and work performance. In other words, the higher individual beliefs on Islamic value, the more committed employee to do their job. Thus, the more committed and enthusiastic employees on their job, the higher their work performance will be.

Abstract

Based on the philosophy of science, the development of management science uses the perspective of ontology, epistemology, and axiology. In the perspective of ontology, the essence of management theory in business organizations is the science that offers a management process so that business organizations can achieve their goals. The final goal to be achieved by the process this management is the achievement or fulfillment of goals that have been set. Based on an epistemological perspective, management theory in business organizations introduces methods or ways of making decisions or solving problems that can be used by managers in running business organizations. In addition, management science introduces various management theories to be practiced in business activities. In an axiological perspective, ethical values and social responsibility must be a serious concern in applying management science to business organizations. In management theory, business orientation is not only looking for profit but also give attention to the norms prevailing in society and give attention to the interests and welfare of all parties. Because management theory has the perspective of ontology, epistemology, and axiology, management theory is really a philosophy of science. Therefore, management theory needs to be developed to be implemented in business organizations.
