Abstract

This research was aimed to analyze the direct and indirect effect of quantitative properties on the weight of the fruit per bunch, obtain properties that can be used as selective characteristics, and implement them from October 2023 to March 2024 in District Farms 10 PT. BGA, West Kalimantan Province. The method used in this study is an inter-clone design and a single-factor clone that uses nine Tenera clones. Data analysis using multivariate analysis of variance correlation tests and path analysis. The results of the study showed a significant correlation coefficient between phenotype and genotype properties. The path analysis results showed that there is a different direct and indirect correlation between the influence of the quantitative properties on the weight of fruit per bunch. The properties of the number of fruits per bunch and the mass of the bunch can be used as indicators of selection based on the phenotype, whereas the characteristics of the weight and height of the plant can be interpreted as selective indicators based on genotypes.

Abstract

Peanuts are a legume with high protein content and an important strategic commodity. Exploration and evaluation of local germplasm to enrich genetic diversity still needs to be carried out for further use in plant breeding programs. One of them is local germplasm in Southwest Maluku Regency (MBD). This research aims to describe the appearance and diversity of agronomic traits of several local peanut accessions from Southwest Maluku. The research will take place from November 2022 to February 2023 at the Moa Nursery UPTD, MBD Regency. The design used was a completely randomized block design with a Variety factor consisting of 5 levels, and each level was repeated three times. The variety factor consists of four local accessions and one national superior variety, namely Tasia 2. The analysis used is analysis of variance between accessions and within accessions. If there is an influence of accessions, the analysis is continued with the Duncan Multiple Distance Test (UJBD), and evaluation of diversity in accessions uses descriptive analysis with boxplot graphs. UJBD shows that the growth of local accessions is relatively the same as the superior variety Tasia 2, and the production of the Putih Leti and Putih Kisar accessions is higher than Tasia 2. Boxplot analysis shows that the accessions Putih Kisar, Merah Leti, Putih Leti and Merah Kisar show diversity in plant height and number of productive branches.

Abstract

A field experiment to obtain new improved soybean varieties with higher yield and seed size was conducted by crossing Slamet Variety (high yield, small seed size) with Nakhonsawan (large seed size) in order to produce F6 selected generation. The process of selection and evaluation was conducted during a 3.5 month period, from August to December 2003 in KP IPB Sindang Barang Bogor. The pedigree selection method was used in the experiments. Data was analyzed based on information of set of total data, relatives and individually. The results showed that low performance for all traits compared to the Slamet variety except seed size and seed production traits, and higher than Nakhonsawan variety except seed size. However, genetic variances and heritabilities were high for all traits except number of branch. On the other hand, distribution of genetic variances and heritabilities on all levels of relatives were small except for the within-family F6 generations. This indicated that there was an effect of over-dominance gene action. Conclusion of analysis showed existence of two families with high seed production and seed size if compared to Slamet variety.   Key words: Soybean, selection, performance, genetic variability, and heritabilities.
