Abstract

Banggai Kepulauan district has potency and investment opportunities in agricultural sector particularly food crop sub sector whichis based on local priority commodities.  One of the food crops that have investment opportunity is Banggai yum.  It is the original food source for people in Banggai Kepulauan district which has been practiced from generation to generation.  The development of Banggai yum currently is still in the stage of yet becoming value added products.  In general, the people consume Banggai yum by simply processing it either through boiling or frying, thus it has not yet processed into flour or noodle or other type of processed products. The aims of this research were (1) to determine the income of Banggai yum farming system in South Totikum sub district of Banggai Kepulauan district and (2) to determine the development strategy of Banggai yum farming system in South Totikum       sub district of Banggai Kepulauan district.  The research location was purposively determined   based on the largest land area size of Banggai yum cultivation.  Income analysis was used to analyze the farming system income with the equation of π = TR – TC to generate R/C  value, while the development strategy was analyzed using SWOT analysis.  The research   results showed that Banggai yum is feasible to be developed with the W – O (Weaknesses-Opportunities) strategy.  The programs and activities to support the strategy include (1) utilizing climate and land suitability in which no shifting cultivation is adopted, (2) promoting Banggai yum through tourism sector by introducing local wisdom, thus easily opening market accessibility, and (3) utilizing Banggai yum potency and high economy value to attract investment for increasing value added of its end products. Keywords: Banggai yum, Farming System, Income, and SWOT.

Abstract

This research aimed to determinefactors influencing the production of clove farmingsand their income at Ogodeide district ofTolitoli regency. This research was conducted from August to October 2015. Data wasobtainedfrom 84 clove farmers who were selected using a simple random technique. The data was processed and analyzed by using production function of Cobb-Douglass. The results showed that simultaneously, the independent variables (X) significantly influence the dependent variable (Y) and the coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.90. Based on the partial test, it is obvious that there are four variables significantly influence the cloves production including the number of productive trees (X1), the use of ZA fertilizers (X3), the use of ponska fertilizer(X4), and the labors (X5) while the age of cloves variable (X2) has no significant influence to the clove production at Ogodeide district of Tolitoli regency. The income analysis suggests that the income generated by the farmer was IDR58,102,598.98/year, in average. Keywords: Clove farming, income, production factors.

Abstract

ABSTRACK This study aimed to determine the income of corn farming system, and the significant differences between the corn production and the farming system income under various combinations of inorganic fertilizers. The location of the study was determined purposively and was carried out in September to October 2017. The determination of the respondents was selected by the Proportioned Stratified Random Sampling technique. The number of farmer samples was stratified based on the use of combination of inorganic fertilizers in which a group of 13 people combined Urea with KCl whereas the other group of 17 people combined Urea with NPK. The analysis tool used in this research was the analysis of farm income and comparative analysis. The results showed that the average income of the farmers using the combination of Urea and KCl fertilizers was IDR 6,244,900.45 while those farmers using the combination of Urea and NPK fertilizers was IDR 7,665,322.03. Hypothesis testing on the comparison of the production and the income of the farmers using the combination of Urea and KCl fertilizers and those using the combination of Urea and NPK fertilizer showed the t-count value equal to 7.07 and 5.47, respectively, with α 5% and t-table of 2.048 suggesting that there is a significant difference between the two combinations used by the farmers in Beka village, Marawola sub district of Sigi district. Keywords : Comparative and income analysis, Corn, and  inorganic fertilizer.

Abstract

The purpose of this research were to identify and analyze factors influencing the income of fried onion industry perceived from the aspects of its price, production cost, advertising cost, the amount of raw materials used and the number of labor used, and to determine the level of fried onion industry income in Palu.  Respondents were selected using a purposive sampling technique with which 32 fried onion industries with production capacity ranging from 3000 – 18,000 kg year-1 were chosen. The results of analysis showed that the factors including the price (X1), the production cost (X2), the advertising cost (X3), the amount of raw materials (X4) and the number of labor (X5) simultaneously had highly significant effect on the income of the fried onion indicated by F-test (1435,106) >F-table (3.82) for the 99% significant level. Therefore, H0 was rejected and H1 accepted.  The results of t-test indicated that except the number of labor (X5), the other factors   such as the price (X1), the production cost (X2), the advertising cost (X3), the amount of raw materials (X4) and the number of labor (X5)partially had significant affect on the income of the fried onion industry..  The results of revenue and income analyses showed that the production was 582.81 kg month-1 of fried onion in average with the average revenue of IDR 130.586.425,78, and the average income of IDR 76.128.503,19 industry-1month Key words: Fried onion, Income, Regression analysis.

Abstract

This research was conducted at Dungingis and Kapas Villages, Dako Pemean Sub District, Tolitoli Regency. The objective of the research is to determine the influence of production input uses and their efficiency in clove farming.  The inputs included number of productive trees, urea fertilizer, ZA fertilizer, phonska fertilizer, and labor. This research use Slovin equation in determining the number of respondents. The number of respondents was 75 clove farmers. Data was analyzed using multi linier function analysis of Cobb Douglas. The results of the research showed that the independent variables (Xi) such as the number of productive trees (X1), urea fertilizer (X2), ZA fertilizer (X3), phonska fertilizer (X4), and labour (X5) simultaneously had significant effect on the production as the dependent variable (Y). The coefficient of determination was 0.975 indicating that the fluctuation in the clove production can be explained by its independent variables by 97.5% while the other variables not including in the model was by 2.5%.  The efficiency analysis showed that the k value of the variable of the productive tree number (X1)was < 1 suggesting that this variable is not efficient from the point of price view. By contrast the other variable such as urea fertilizer (X2), ZA fertilizer (X3), phonska fertilizer (X4) and labor (X5) had k values> 1 indicating that the use of these inputs is not efficient yet from the point of price view, as well. Keywords :Clove production, efficiency, and production input.

Abstract

Cocoa is one of the export commodities from plantation sub-sector which is the leading commodity in Central Sulawesi. This research aimed at determining: (1) the influence of  productive plant number, urea fertilizer, SP36 fertilizer, KCl fertilizer, employees, and plant age on cocoa production in Tongoa village, and (2)the income of cocoa farmingin Tongoa village. This research used a survey method.  Sixty five households were taken as samplesusing a simple random technique. The results showed that: (1) Ftest =43.425 with probability               p = 0.000<0.05 at ɑ = 5% indicating that the independent variables such as number of productive plants (X1), urea (X2), SP36 (X3), KCl (X4), employees (X5), and age of plants (X6) simultaneously had significant influence on the cocoa production in Tongoa village Palolo. The adjusted coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.796 showing that the variation  of cocoa production (Y) can be explained by the independent variablesby 79.9%, while               the remaining 20.1% was explained by other factors that were not included in the model, such as climate, etc. The number of productive plants variable (X1), urea(X2), SP36 fertilizer (X3), KCl (X4), employees (X5), and plant age (X6) were also each partially influence the cocoa production in Tongoa village Palolo significantly at the level of 95% while KCl fertilizerat the level of 90%; and (2) The average revenue of the cocoa farming was  IDR 37,251,938.46/1.74 ha/year equal to IDR 21,409,160.04 /ha/year while the average income of cocoa production was IDR 27,798,502.38/1.74 ha/year equal to IDR 15,976,150.79/ha/year.
