Abstract

This encoding activity for the community was carried out with the aim of helping residents of Pematang Seleng Village, bar Hulu Hulu District, Labuhanbatu Regency in utilizing palm oil stick waste (Elaeis guineensis) into handicraft innovations that have selling value. Waste products from oil palm sticks (Elaeis guineensis) in the form of fruit containers and other household items such as mirrors. The population in this study is 50 people in Pematang Seleng Village. People in the village are still rarely utilizing palm oil stick waste as the potential of local wisdom to be used into goods with an economical selling price. The use of palm oil sticks as a basic material for making household furniture is one solution to reduce plantation waste while creating economically valuable products. This study aims to describe the process and the potential of oil palm sticks as household furniture materials using qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through interviews with artisans and field observations, and supported by related literature studies. The results showed that oil palm sticks have good strength and flexibility, and are easily processed into various products such as fruit holders, mirrors and other household furniture. However, the challenges faced include the lack of modern processing techniques and limited market access. With the support of training, technology, and promotion, the utilization of oil palm sticks can be further developed as an environmentally friendly creative industry and has the potential to improve people's welfare.

Abstract

This community outreach activity was carried out with the aim of providing an understanding of Generation Z known as the digital native generation who grew up in the era of technology and information. Despite having wide access to information, this generation faces challenges in civic engagement due to the crisis of national identity and low critical literacy. The population in this study were 25 students of SMK Negeri 2 Rantau Utara. The SMK students still have minimal understanding of Scientific Attitudes and Civic Engagement that grow in the digitalization era and the challenges they face in the future. The use of this socialization is expected to reduce the negative influence of digital ea and the role of Generation Z in facing these challenges. This study aims to provide an understanding and socialization of Scientific Attitudes as an effort to Strengthen Civic Engagement in the younger generation, especially Gen-Z in an effort to form a character based on Science and Pancasila with a qualitative descriptive approach. Research data were obtained through Socialization and interviews with Students of SMK Negeri 2 Rantau Utara, North Antau District, Labuhanbatu Regency using qualitative descriptive methods. Data were collected through interviews with vocational high school students and field observations, and supported by related literature studies. The results of the study indicate that Generation Z's lack of understanding of Scientific Attitudes and Civic Engagement in the current digital era. With the support of socialization, technology, and promotion, the understanding of vocational high school students can be further developed as in-depth information as an effort to strengthen Scientific Attitudes and Civic Engagement in the digital era.

Abstract

This community outreach activity was carried out with the aim of helping residents of Aek Batu Village, Torgamba District, South Labuhanbatu Regency, utilize palm oil (Elaeis guineensis) palm frond waste into innovative handicrafts that have sales value. The product from palm oil (Elaeis guineensis) palm frond waste is a handicraft in the form of a Peacock Replica "Bumer". The population in this study was the community in Aek Batu Village, which numbered 40 people. The community in the village still rarely utilizes palm oil frond waste as a potential local wisdom to be utilized into goods with economical selling prices. The use of palm oil fronds as a basic material for making furniture is one solution to reduce plantation waste while creating products with economic value. This study aims to describe the process and potential of palm oil fronds as furniture materials using qualitative descriptive methods. Data were collected through interviews with craftsmen and field observations, and supported by related literature studies. Research results show that oil palm fronds have good strength and flexibility, and are easily processed into various products such as fruit bowls, handicrafts such as "Bumer" peacock replicas, and other household items. However, challenges include a lack of modern processing techniques and limited market access. With the support of training, technology, and promotion, the use of oil palm fronds can be further developed as an environmentally friendly creative industry with the potential to improve community welfare.
