Abstract

MSMEs are the driving force of the community's economy and play an important role in the coffee processing sector. Gupait MSMEs still face obstacles in the roasting process, which is done manually using a hand crank, resulting in unstable temperatures and inconsistent roasting quality. This community service program was implemented using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method through the stages of observation, socialization, design of a temperature-controlled roasting machine, trial assistance, and operational training for partners. The roasting machine developed has a capacity of 5 kg per roasting process and uses an automatic Temperature Control system. The implementation results showed a significant improvement in the quality of the roasting, with a uniformity level of around 85-90% and no burnt coffee beans, based on visual evaluation from field trials. Additionally, production capacity increased from approximately 1 kg to 5 kg (maximum drum capacity). The assistance also improved partners' understanding of equipment use and maintenance. This program had a positive impact on product quality improvement, process efficiency, and the competitiveness of Gupait MSMEs.

Abstract

The community service program was carried out in collaboration with the PKK women’s group in Jatisari Village, Tajinan District, Malang Regency. The program aimed to strengthen business legality as well as improve the efficiency and quality of Kunir Asem Jatiarum production. Previously, the PKK women faced significant challenges in marketing due to the absence of production permits and distribution licenses, which limited product sales only within the village. Additionally, there was a need to enhance both product quality and production efficiency. Through this community service activity, assistance was provided to obtain essential business legality documents, including the Business Identification Number (NIB), distribution permit, BPOM registration, and halal certification. These achievements have had a significant impact, such as increasing consumer trust in Kunir Asem Jatiarum products and expanding market access. Furthermore, obtaining business legality opens opportunities for government development programs and strategic partnerships, while the halal certification adds value and competitiveness in broader markets. Ultimately, business legality serves as a fundamental foundation for the sustainability and profitability of UMKM in the modern era.

Abstract

Terdapat pelaku usaha UMKM yang bergerak di bidang olahan berbagai makanan yang berada di Desa Madiredo Kecamatan Pujon Kabupaten Malang. Olahan makanan yang dihasilkan seperti keripik. basreng, peyek dan lain-lain. UMKM Makmur Maju Bersama salah satu pelaku usaha UMKM yang ada di Desa Madiredo, Kecamatan Pujon, Kabupaten Malang, memproduksi olahan makanan. Dalam proses produksi yaitu pengemasannya masih menggunakan mesin sealer tangan. Ketika dilakukan pengemasan dengan mesin sealer tangan tidak ada standar untuk tekanan apabila penekananya terlalu lama maka plastik atau bungkus dari makanan tersebut akan meleleh. Selain akan mudah meleleh, jika terlalu sebentar dalam menekannya maka hasilnya kurang rekat sehingga makanan yang ada di dalam bungkus akan mudah atau cepat melempem. Dari permasalahan UMKM Makmur Maju Bersama tim pengabdian masyarakat menawarkan sebuah teknologi tepat guna berupa Foot Impulse Sealer Machine untuk meningkatkan kualitas kemasan produk. Foot Impulse Sealer Machine memiliki keunggulan dibandingkan dengan mesin sealer tangan yaitu dapat mengatur tekanan dan suhu yang diberikan serta dapat mempercepat proses produksi.
