Abstract

Obesity is a risk factor for hyperglycemia. Farmers are a group of people at risk of obesity and hyperglycemia due to a lifestyle that consumes foods high in fat and carbohydrates. The aim of this study wants to analyze the relationship between body mass index and blood sugar levels of farmers in the report of Integrated Development Post of Non-Communicable Disease (Posbindu PTM) Pakusari Jember Health Center. The survey analysis study used a retrospective cohort study. A design was used to analyze secondary data of Posbindu PTM Pakusari Jember Health Center registered from January to October 2020 among 345 farmers. A population of 345 farmers was selected by purposive sampling to be used as research samples. Characteristics of participants, height and weight, and random blood sugar levels were measured through a health monitoring book (KMS Posbindu PTM). The chi-Square test was used to answer the objective of the study. Among 146 farmers identified that 46.6% were obese and 45.9% were hyperglycemia. There was a relationship between body mass index and blood sugar levels in farmers (p-value = 0.000). Indirectly, body mass index affects blood sugar levels, manifesting as diabetes mellitus and other complications. Therefore, obesity should be identified as a risk factor associated with farmers' blood sugar levels.

Abstract

Stunting is the inadequacy of nutritional intake from the womb to the child at the age of five, which is indicated by the child having less length or height comparing to the age. In this study, the researcher linked family mobility as one of the factors causing the increasing case of stunting. The purpose of this literature study is to describe family mobilization with the stunting case in children under five in Indonesia. The research design used in this study was a traditional literature review. Articles are tracked using several search engines (Google Scholar, PubMed, Springer link, Sinta, and Plos One). The results of this study indicated that family mobilization in reaching health services can affect the nutritional status of children under five. The affordability of health services is caused by several factors such as road access, distance and travel time. It also relates to the family residence, the pattern of care provided, and the socio-economic status of the family which can cause children under five experiencing stunting. The conclusion in this study is that family mobilization such as a lack of family health attention in reaching health services, inadequate needs and a healthier lifestyle or low economic status, as well as a poor or lack parenting knowledge can cause children under five susceptible to infectious diseases so that the children are prone to stunting.

Abstract

Smoking is often found in various environments, especially in the family environment. Various efforts or programs that have been echoed and implemented to overcome these problems include the Healthy Indonesia Program with a Family Approach (PIS-PK). This study aimed to analyze the relationship between family health history and the smoking behavior of family members. The research design is correlational with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were all families in the working area of the Kaliwates Health Center, Jember Regency, totaling 12,840 families, with a sample of 170 respondents. The sampling technique used was multistage sampling with the data collection tools, namely the family health history questionnaire and the GN-SBQ smoking behavior questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that the Chi-Square statistical test obtained a p-value of 0.615 (<0.05) where there is no relationship between family health history and the smoking behavior of family members in the working area of the Kaliwates Health Center. In this study, most family health history was in good health, as seen from the history data (65.9%). However, most of the families in the working area of the Kaliwates Health Center showed smoking behavior in the very severe category (60.6%). This study concludes that no significant relationship exists between family health history and smoking behavior. It is hoped that with this research, health workers can help improve counseling related to smoking behavior in the working area of the Kaliwates Health Center.

Abstract

Background: The use of gadgets for school-age children is useful for supporting the learning process, but excessive use is at risk of disrupting vision function if used for too long and can cause eye problems, including visual abilities. This can be caused by the level of use of gadgets in children. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the impact of using gadgets on the visual ability of school-age children, especially those aged 6-12 years. Methods: The research design used in this literature study is a narrative review. The data collected in this study used secondary data from literature searches with online article search tools through databases, namely PubMed, SpringerLink, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, and Google Scholar. Article selection is carried out through 4 stages according to the PRISMA flowchart. Results: There are 10 articles analyzed in this study. The use of gadgets has an effect on decreasing the visual ability of school-age children due to frequent use for a long time. An overview of the impact of the use of gadgets on the visual ability of school-age children can be influenced by several factors, including the level of use which indicates the frequency and duration which indicates how often. Conclusions: The adverse effects of excessive use of gadgets on school-age children can be prevented by limiting the use of gadgets.
