Abstract

Current palliative care is not only for end-of-life care but has evolved from the early stages of diagnosed diseases to the terminal/end-of-life stage. The obstacles that arise in palliative care in Indonesia are also based on one of them the lack of knowledge of nurses on education about palliative care and near death. The purpose of this literature study is to describe and identify knowledge and attitudes of nurses towards palliative and end-of-life patient care in intensive care room in Indonesia. This study uses a traditional literature review, with article selection using three stages based on the PRISMA flowchart, with five article search databases that have been determined by researchers and published articles in 2016-2022. The results of the review using these four articles found that most nurses had a low level of knowledge of 67.5% in 27 respondents but had a good attitude toward the process of palliative and end-of-life nursing care in intensive care units in Indonesia. The conclusion is because many nurses have not received a palliative care curriculum at their education level and do not do palliative and end-of-life care training. Even so, nurses' experience in performing palliative care is sufficient to meet standard procedures well.

The knowledge toward snakebite prevention was related to preventive measures taken by farmers. Besides, a lack of farmer’s awareness about the importance of using personal protective equipment and a lack of public understanding regarding the level of danger and the types of venomous snakes were factors that cause snakebites. This study aimed to describe the efforts to prevent snakebite on farmers in Panti sub-district. The method used a quantitative descriptive with survey research design. This research was conducted on farmers in Panti with a sample of 100 respondents using cluster sampling technique. The results of this study showed respondents have known tree crevices, earthen holes, piles of wood, garbage, and twigs that are at risk of becoming snake habitats, use boots and trousers while working, maximize lighting using a lamp or flashlight, regularly mow grass and shrubs, clean up scattered leaves, and rest on higher ground when at home or in the fields. While only a few respondents participated in health education and counselling regarding snake bites. This study concluded that the majority of respondents conducted efforts to prevent snakebites.

Abstract

Patients with cataracts can experience psychological and physiological impacts; the physiological impact caused is discomfort in sight, while the psychological impact on patients is anxiety because they will have surgery on the eye. This study aims to analyze the effect of providing perioperative health education on the coping mechanisms of preoperative cataract patients. This study used a quasi-experimental research design with a pre-test and post-test research approach with a control group design. The research sampling technique used is consecutive. The sample in this study were cataract patients who were going to perform cataract surgery as many as 30 respondents. Analysis of the data used using the dependent t-test and independent t-test. This study's results indicate differences in coping mechanisms in the measurement of the treatment and control groups, with a p-value = 0.001. This study concluded that there were significant differences in coping mechanisms after being given perioperative health education in the treatment group and the control group. Nurses are expected to be able to apply health education to preoperative cataract patients so that the patient's coping becomes adaptive and ready for surgery

Selfefficacy helps to carry out regular activities with expected results since they’re convinced in their abilities. In this case, the researcher provided education about applying the recitation method to learn about earthquake preparedness. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the effect of the recitation method on earthquake preparedness on high school students’ selfefficacy in Jember. Method: The method used a quasi-experimental design with the nonequivalent control group. The samples were 136 students selected by simple random sampling and divided into an intervention group and a control group. The data were analyzed by T-Test Dependent and Mann Withney. Results: The result showed a p-value of T-Test Dependent in the intervention group was 0.000 (< 0.05) and in the control group was 0.023 (<0.05), hence there was a difference in self-efficacy before and after intervention in the two groups, while Mann Whitney the comparison between the intervention group and control group was 0.047 (< 0.05), so there was a significant difference in self-efficacy between two groups. Conclusion: Based on the result of this study, learning with the recitation method is effective to improve students’ self-efficacy toward earthquake preparedness. Students who are involved in the recitation method are expected to be convinced of their own abilities because they have been through cognitive and motivational processes toward the formation of self-efficacy in earthquake preparedness.

Abstract

The incidence of heart attack is one of the highest causes of death in the world and Indonesia. East Java ranks second highest for people with heart problems who risk getting a heart attack. The farmers had a high-risk factor for heart disease due to an unhealthy lifestyle (high-fat diet, smoking, caffeine consumption, and exposure to pesticides). Farmers in Suci Village, Panti District, Jember Regency also have the same risk. Farmers in the Sacred Village had a high enough risk of a heart attack. This is the reason for the Mulyo Farmers Group Association (Gapoktan), Suci Village, Panti District, Jember Regency, to be empowered in dealing with this problem. The purpose of implementing this service is to create a heart-friendly agricultural area in Suci Village by downstream the research results of the proposer team, increasing knowledge, attitudes, and skills of Gapoktan about BHD, and forming a group of volunteers for BHD Gapoktan Tani Mulyo. The method used starts with initial identification with partners, formulation of activities, implementation of activities, and final dissemination. The result is that Tani Mulyo's Gapoktan has been empowered to become a BHD volunteer. The results of our program implementation were evaluated by giving pretest and post-test questionnaires, which we analyzed with a dependent t-test. The result showed that there was a significant increase in the variables of knowledge (p=<0.001), attitude (p=0.003), and skills (p=<0.001) from Tani Mulyo's Gapoktan. With the implementation of this service, Tani Mulyo Gapoktan has been empowered to become a BHD volunteer to create a heart-friendly agricultural area.
