Abstract

The advancement of information technology has led to more and more people, especially teenagers, becoming addicted to using various social platforms. Despite being a very useful application for social interaction, the habit of spending excessive time on social media is prone to addiction so that teenagers can experience anxiety disorders, depression, health problems, and more. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the 15th-order Runge-Kutta method in solving mathematical models in the case of social media addiction. The method used in this research uses experimental research and data collection is done by systematically observing and recording the research indicators. The research was conducted by observing the error, number of iterations, running time, and graphs. In this study, adolescents aged 15-18 years were divided into three compartment states which were modeled into mathematical equations. The results of this study indicate that the 15th order Runge-Kutta method is more effective for solving mathematical models on social media addiction compared to Ordinary Differential Equation (ODE).

Abstract

One of the sub-chapters studied in graphs is local irregularity vertex coloring of graph. The based on definition of local irregularity vertex coloring of graph, as follow : (i)l : V (G) →{1, 2, 3, . . . , k} as a vertex irregular labeling and w : V (G) → N, for every uv ∈ E(G), w(u) ̸=w(v) with w(u) = Pv∈N(u)l(v) and (i) Opt(l) = min{max(li); li is a vertex irregular labeling}. The chromatic number of the local irregularity vertex coloring of G denoted by χlis(G), is the minimum cardinality of the largest label over all such local irregularity vertex colorings. In this article, discuss about local irregularity vertex coloring of subdivision by helm graph (Sg(Hn)).

Abstract

The study aims to analyze the airflow in the trachea due to thyroid cancer. Thyroid cancer is a cancer that attacks the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland is located in the neck below the Adam's apple. In general, thyroid cancer causes stenosis of the trachea due to cancer compression of the tracheal wall. This problem is solved using the finite volume method with SIMPLE (Semi Implicit Method for Pressure Linked Equation) discretization. This method is well suited for the discretization of irregularly shaped fluid flows. The software used is Matlab and Ansys Fluent. Matlab is used to compute numerical solutions and display graphs, while Fluent is used to visualize the air flow. The result of this study is that the greater the percentage of stenosis, the velocity of the airflow is faster and the pressure of the airflow is lower. The most critical condition for respiratory power loss is when the airflow velocity exceeds the normal limit, i.e. when the narrowing is more than 50%, the initial velocity is more than 0,1 m/s.

Abstract

Geometric skills was one of the essential competencies in mathematics learning. However, instruction that did not consider differences in students’ abilities could hinder the achievement of this competency. This study aimed to produce a differentiated learning module on quadrilateral material that was valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ geometric skills. The study used the 4-D model, which included the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research subjects were 24 eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Rambipuji. Data collection techniques were questionnaire techniques and test techniques, with the included instruments being on validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, pre-test, and post-test. The research results showed that the developed learning module had a validity score average of 3,84, practicality ratings of 97,50% from teachers and 83,02% from students, and an effectiveness score with an average N-Gain of 0,76 (high category). The module included learning objectives, diagnostic assessments, differentiated activities, summative assessments, and reflection. Each student group received scaffolding tailored to their ability level. This learning module could be used to support differentiated instruction aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

This research, titled "The Implementation of Process Differentiated Instruction Based on VARK Learning Styles for Junior High School Students in Solving Statistics Problems," was prompted by a discrepancy between the Merdeka Curriculum's mandate for diverse learning and the continued use of conventional teaching at SMPN 1 Panti. The study aimed to implement and describe the effects of process-differentiated instruction based on VARK learning styles on students' statistical problem-solving abilities. A quasi-experimental, nonequivalent control group design was employed, involving two eighth-grade classes: an experimental group (n = 29) and a control group (n = 29). The experimental group received process differentiation tailored to VARK styles, while the control group received conventional instruction. Data were collected via pretests and posttests and analyzed using non-parametric statistics. The findings showed no statistically significant difference in problem-solving outcomes between the two groups (Mann-Whitney U, p = 0,151). However, the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test revealed a significant improvement in the experimental group’s scores from pretest to posttest (p = 0,000). Moreover, student interviews indicated that the differentiated approach significantly increased their motivation and engagement. It was concluded that while the short-term intervention did not yield statistically superior test scores, it profoundly enhanced the learning process and student experience.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines indications of the effectiveness of a digital simulation-based learning approach in supporting students’ understanding of queueing models using real-life data. Aquasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design, supported by qualitative interview data, was conducted with 31 undergraduate mathematics education students at the University of Jember. The ExtendSim software was used to create interactive queueing simulations that allowed students to explore parameters such as arrival rate, service rate, and waiting time. Validity and reliability tests were conducted using item–total (Pearson) correlations and Cronbach’s alpha, with results indicating high validity (r > 0.5, p < 0.05) and high internal consistency (a > 0.80). A paired ttest showed a statistically significant increase in scores within this sample (t = 8.89, p < 0.001). Students’ perceptions of the simulation were highly positive, with an average Likert score of 3.23 (very high). Qualitative interviews further indicated that the simulations helped students visualize queue dynamics and relate theoretical concepts to real-life contexts. There were also indications of increased motivation, engagement, and computational thinking skills; however, these findings are limited by the single-site sample and the one-group study design.
