Abstract

The previous research result showed that the learning model based on the investigation could increase the students’ critical thinking skills. The aim of this research was to measure the effectiveness of the using of problem-based learning model to increase the students’ critical thinking skills. The research design was quasi-experiment by using post-test only design. The population of this research was the eleventh grade students of science which contained 124 students of SMAN 6 and SMAN 7 Kupang that were chosen randomly. The treatment that was given in this research was problem-based learning model for the experiment class and conventional model for the control class whereas the given materials were the reaction rate. The learning process in the experimental class begins with the provision of contextual problems aimed at increasing students' interest and motivation in finding and designing solutions to solve problems individually or in groups. The instrument that was used in this research previously validated by two experts of theory and material. The result of this research showed that the students who studied in experiment class had different critical thinking skills better that the students who studied using conventional model.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memisahkan ion logam besi dan mangan pada air sumur (dalam) menggunakan metode adsorpsi kolom. Berdasarkan penelitian, diketahui efektivitas metode adsorpsi kolom untuk penurunan kadar logam besi dan mangan pada air sumur, efisiensi waktu penjerapan terhadap ion logam besi dan mangan, serta kondisi air sumur sebelum dan sesudah adsorpsi. Penelitian dilakukan pada air sumur (dalam) Wonoboyo, Kecamatan Jogonalan, Kabupaten Klaten. Proses adsorpsi menggunakan kolom berisi zeolit dan karbon aktif sebagai adsorben. Pada penelitian ini efektivitas pemisahan logam besi dan mangan dari air sumur (dalam) diketahui dari nilai efisiensi penjerapannya. Analisis logam besi dan mangan dilakukan dengan Spektrofotometri Serapan Atom (AAS). Selain itu juga dilakukan uji parameter air yaitu pH dan TDS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semakin lama proses adsorpsi, maka efektivitas adsorben zeolit dan arang aktif dalam menurunkan kadar Fe dan Mn meningkat. Efisiensi penjerapan cukup tinggi dengan rata-rata 97,50% untuk Fe dan 98,33% untuk Mn. Air yang sebelumnya keruh menjadi jernih dengan pH dan TDS yang semakin kecil, sehingga air lebih aman dikonsumsi karena semakin jauh dari nilai ambang batas yang ditetapkan dalam SNI dan permenkes RI N0.492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010.

Abstract

Cyclic voltammogram of stainless steel/Fe-Co-Ni on base condition and on various sweet potato starch concentration could be used to study the electrocatalyst activity of stainless steel/Fe-Co-Ni. The efficiency is derived from the point of view of product and energy required, for instance comparing between stainless steel/Fe-Co-Ni and stainless steel.The research had conducted water electrolysis on base condition with several conditions, such as addition of 5 grams NaHCO3 per liter of water, sweet potato starch as medium on various concentration (0 - 10 grams per liter of water), and stainless steel/Fe-Co-Ni as a working electrode. The research methodology which is used is cyclic voltammogram using eDAQ EChem as the voltameter instrument.Based on the cyclic voltammograms, it could be concluded that sweet potato starch causes covering around the electrode surfaces so water molecule splitting process would be obstructed. The optimum covering point is occurred on the addition of 9 grams sweet potato starch per liter of water. The optimum condition is occurred on the addition of 4 grams sweet potato of starch per liter of water; with product efficiency is 1.62 times and energy saving as much as 6.90% compared with the utilization of stainless steel as electrode. Keywords: voltammogram, sweet potato, stainless                  steel/Fe-Co-Ni, covering, efficiency.

Abstract

The complex containing Ni(II)-2,2’-bipyridin (bipy)-trifluoroacetate (TFA) was prepared by direct interaction of the corresponding precursors in an aqueous solution. AAS measurement for metal content, TGA-DTA analysis and electrical conductance suggest the ionic complex of [Ni(bipy)3](CF3COO)2·6H2O. The magnetic moment of 3.13–3.17 BM indicates the paramagnetism corresponding to two unpaired electrons which is clearly higher than that of the spin only value (2.87 BM), and commonly observed due to the spin-orbit coupling in Ni(II). UV-Vis spectral property revealed the first two main ligand field bands centered at about 14200 and 18650 cm–1, which are attributed to the spin-allowed transition, 3A2g→3T2g and 3A2g→3T1g(F), respectively. The expected third band at higher energy seems to appear as a shoulder at 26500 cm–1 (378 nm), as it is masked by a strong intensity of charge transfer band centered at 31050 cm–1. The infrared spectrum exhibits mode of vibrations of the functional groups of ligand and TFA. The powder diffractogram was refined by Le Bail method and found fit as monoclinic system of space group of P21/M, with figures of merit: Rp = 3.62, Rwp = 5.76, Rexp = 3.48, goodness of fitting (GOF) 2.745 and the derived Bragg R-Factor = 0.05.

Abstract

Program pengabdian pada masyarakat (PPM) ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi yang dialami guru pada materi kimia SMA yang berhubungan dengan kimia anorganik dan kimia fisik, dan (2) memberikan pendampingan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan materi sesuai modul guru pembelajar bagi anggota MGMP kimia Kabupaten Sleman.Kegiatan dilakukan selama 3 kali pertemuan. Pertemuan pertama di SMAN 1 Pakem, dihadiri 24 orang, membahas Sifat Koligatif Larutan dan menyusun Instrumen Penilaian. Pertemuan kedua di SMAN 2 Sleman, dihadiri 27 orang, membahas Penelitian Tindakan Kelas, Laju Reaksi, Termokimia, dan Elektrolisis. Pertemuan ketiga di SMAN 1 Seyegan, dihadiri 24 orang, membahas Teori Atom dan Ikatan Kimia.  Kesimpulan daripada kegiatan ini, adalah  (1) beberapa  guru masih banyak mengalami miskonsepsi dalam pembahasan materi: Laju Reaksi, Termokimia, Elektrolisis, Sifat Koligatif Larutan, dan Bilangan Kuantum dan (2) Modul Guru Pembelajar yang perlu dipahami kembali oleh para guru anggota MGMP Kimia Kabupaten, adalah Modul A, D, G, dan J, baik dalam materi pedagogik maupun kimianya.

Abstract

AbstrakInulin merupakan bahan dasar obat yang banyak terkandung dalam umbi-umbian lokal, seperti ubi kayu/singkong (Manihot esculenta), uwi (Dioscorea spp.), ubi jalar (Ipomoea batatas), dan gembili (Dioscorea esculenta L.), yang secara luas belum diupayakan untuk diproduksi secara besar-besaran. Umbi-umbian lokal umumnya hanya dijual sebagai bahan mentah yang harganya relatif murah dan tidak dapat disimpan dalam waktu yang relatif lama. Umumnya dikonsumsi dengan cara direbus, digoreng atau diolah menjadi makanan tradisional, belum diproses menjadi produk yang lebih bermanfaat, memiliki nilai jual relatif tinggi, dan waktu penyimpanan yang relatif lebih lama. Pada kegiatan pemberdayaan masyarakat pedesaan ini telah dilakukan penyuluhan, pemberian keterampilan, dan pendampingan masyarakat dusun Krajan Wedomartani Ngemplak Sleman untuk secara mandiri mampu mengolah umbi-umbian lokal menjadi produk tepung fermentasi, tepung non fermentasi, dan ekstrak inulin. Pada kegiatan ini bahan baku yang digunakan adalah umbi singkong, uwi ungu, dan ubi jalar ungu. Proses fermentasi umbi dilakukan menggunakan jamur monascus angka atau monascus purpureus. Ekstrak inulin dilakukan dengan menggunakan pelarut alkohol. Produk tepung fermentasi dengan bahan baku umbi singkong, uwi ungu, dan ubi jalar ungu masing-masing memiliki randemen sebesar 52%, 43%, dan 40%; sedangkan ekstrak inulin memiliki randemen sesesar 7,47%, hanya saja produk inulin belum optimum bila ditinjau dari sisi warna senyawa, masih perlu dilakukan proses lanjutan untuk memperoleh produk inulin yang sesuai standar pasar. Hasi angket menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar peserta menyatakan kegiatan seperti ini sangat bermanfaat, dan secara umum penyajian materi oleh tim pengabdi dapat diterima dengan mudah dan jelas oleh peserta. Sebagian besar peserta menyatakan bahwa metoda penyampaian materi sesuai, artinya, secara umum metoda penyampaian materi dalam kegiatan ini dapat diterima dengan mudah oleh masyarakat sasaran. Sebagian besar peserta menyatakan bahwa kegiatan seperti ini sangat membantu membuka wawasan masyarakat desa untuk dapat mengolah umbi-umbian lokal, yang semula hanya dikonsumsi dengan direbus atau digoreng atau dijual mentah dengan harga realtif murah menjadi produk yang lebih bermanfaat, memiliki nilai jual relatif tinggi, dan memiliki daya simpan relatif lebih lama. Kata kunci: inulin, monascus angka, umbi-umbian lokal, membuka wawasan, masyarakat desa The Production of Tubers-Based Inulin as The Basic Ingredients of Medicine AbstractInulin is a raw material of medicine which is contained in local tubers, such as cassava (Manihotes culenta), Dioscorea spp., sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.), and Dioscorea esculenta L., which is not widely strived in mass production. Local tubers commonly sold as food raw material which is relatively cheap and cannot be stored for a long time. Generally, the tubers consumed by boiling, fried or processed to traditional food. It has not processed to be more valuable product, has relatively high price, and has relatively longer the storage time. In the empowerment activity of rural community, it has been conducted counseling, providing soft skill, and community assistance in Krajan, Wedomartani, Ngemplak, Sleman to independently be able producing local tubers became fermented flour, unfermented flour, and inulin extract product. In this activity, the raw material were cassava, Dioscorea alata L. syn. D. atropurpurea Roxb., and purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas var Ayumurasaki). Tubers fermentation process was conducted using monascus angka or monascus purpureus mold. Inulin extract was produced using alcohol solvent. Fermented flour product from cassava, Dioscorea alata L. syn. D. atropurpurea Roxb., and purple sweet potato have yield as respectively 52%, 43%, and 40%; meanwhile inulin extract has yield as 7.47%, although inulin product had not reach optimum point regarding on the color of compound. It still needs further process to gain standardized commercially inulin product. Questioners showed that mostly of the attendances stated the activity very useful, and generally the presentation from empowerment team can be delivered easily and clearly to the communities.  Mostly of the attendances stated that the method of presentation is suitable, which means generally the presentation method in this activity can be accepted easily by the communities. Mostly of the attendances stated that the activity is very helpful for them to gain the knowledge of local tubers processing, which was originally consumed only with boiled or fried or sold uncooked with the relatively cheap price to be more valuable product, has relatively high price, and has relatively longer the storage time  Key words: inulin, monascus angka, local tubers, empowerment, rural community

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of ability of chemistry teachers to prepare online learning media that requires students to achieve 4.0 technological developments. This research aims to create a valid and practical socio-scientific issue-based learning media. The development of this socioscientific-based e-module is carried out by applying the ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation) development model. The data collection technique used in product validation is the questionnaire method. Theoretical validation in this study was carried out by expert lecturers, chemistry teachers, and peer reviewers. The validation of expert lecturers is described descriptively to the criticisms and suggestions given. Based on the validation result of the chemistry teachers and peer reviewers, respectively 88.8% and 87.9%, it was stated that the electronic module (e-module) was very eligible. The practicality of the e-module is known from the results of the student response questionnaire, which was a very eligible category. Based on the overall assessment results, the e-module product is feasible to be implemented in chemistry learning.

Abstract

Improving the efficiency of hydrogen gas production in the water electrolysis process draws great attention from many scholars. To improve the efficiency of the process and reduction in the cost, stainless steel has been widely implemented in the industrial water electrolysis process. Electrolyte modification is also one of the methods to improve the water electrolysis process. The study used Dioscorea opposita tuber flour as a media addition in an alkaline solution. The efficiency of water electrolysis was evaluated by cyclic voltammetry. The result showed that the activity of the electrode and energy consumption were increased with values of 29 and 23%, respectively, by adding 3 g of the media. However, no media addition showed the lowest energy consumption regarding overpotential value. In general, the Dioscorea opposita tuber flour tends to cover the electrode and reduce the activity. Moreover, the utilization of wastewater from Dioscorea opposita flour industry is still beneficial to produce hydrogen gas instead of using freshwater.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenyebaran Covid-19 dapat terjadi melalui penularan yang terjadi melalui droplet dari hidung atau mulut seseorang yang terinfeksi Covid-19. Penularan tidak langsung terjadi karena jatuhnya percikan, seseorang yang menyentuh benda atau permukaan akan terinfeksi dengan menyentuh mata, hidung, atau mulut. Minimnya sarana cuci tangan umum serta pengetahuan masyarakat tentang pembuatan sabun cair, hand sanitizer dan cara mencuci tangan serta pembuatan disinfektan dan metode penyemprotan yang baik dan benar di dusun Samirono menjadi salah satu faktor penyebar risiko penyebaran Covid-19. Sebagai tindakan pencegahan terhadap penyebaran Covid-19, maka dibuatlah Program Pencegahan dan Pelayanan Covid-19 yang dibentuk sebagai Program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat untuk membantu warga desa Samirono agar tetap bersih dan sehat agar tidak tertular Covid-19. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode komunikasi dan edukasi melalui media sosial yaitu Youtube dan Whatssap Group serta sosialisasi kepada masyarakat dengan metode video tutorial cara membuat sabun cair, hand sanitizer dan disinfektan yang baik dan benar. Program pelayanan yang dibentuk adalah mengumpulkan data warga Samirono yang terpapar Covid-19. Kemudian program pencegahan Covid-19 yang dibentuk adalah pembuatan sabun cair dan produk disinfektan sesuai aturan WHO, pembuatan video tutorial pembuatan sabun cair dan disinfektan, pemasangan poster cara mencuci tangan di tempat cuci tangan umum, dan penyemprotan disinfektan.
