Abstract

Science learning that only focuses on the assignment and exposure to material can cause students to be less interested and less motivated to learn science. One example of a student's worksheet (Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik in Indonesian, LKPD)  that effectively attracts students' learning interest is using the LKPD format in comics because it combines visual elements with words. The content of comics can be arranged based on scientific events and dialogues from everyday life, helping students understand the relationship between science and the context of everyday life. This study aims to determine the role of comic-based LKPD in attracting interest and motivation to learn science for grade 9B students of SMPN 11 Malang. This research is included in quantitative descriptive research using survey methods. The data collection for this study was done through a questionnaire distributed through Google Forms with a Likert interval scale. The results of the questionnaire data analysis show that 81.83% of students strongly agree that comic-based LKPD attracts their interest and motivation to learn.

The purpose of this study was to develop and determine the validity and practicality of learning media in the form of an Android-based E-Module equipped with questions with scaffolding on light wave material. In this study, the Research and Development (R&D) model with the 4-D method was used. The stages of 4D development include define, design, develop, and disseminate, but in this study only up to the design stage with validity and practicality tests. Product validation was carried out by three media and material expert validators, namely 1 lecturer and 2 high school physics teachers, while the practicality test was carried out by 48 students of class XI MIPA SMAN 1 Paciran. The research results obtained quantitative and qualitative data. Analysis of quantitative data using percentages and categorized criteria of validity and practicality. The results of this research and development are in the form of an Android-based physics interactive E-Module product with light wave material. From the validation test by the validator, the average percentage of results for media and material validation is 90% with very valid criteria. This shows that the material presented is in accordance with the curriculum so that it can support student learning. In the validation test results of practice questions with scaffolding, the average percentage is 97% and the percentage of evaluation questions is 96% with very valid criteria. This shows that the practice questions and evaluation questions that have been made valid are used by students in studying light waves and are validly included in the developed e-module. From the results of the practicality test, an average percentage of 85% was obtained in the very practical category. This shows that the product developed is very valid and very practical so it is worth investigating its effectiveness so that it can further support physics learning in understanding the concept of light waves, both used independently and in school learning.

Abstract

Project based learning (PjBL) plays a crucial role in helping students develop 21st-century skills. This study aims to assess the development of PjBL implementation in physics education in Indonesia through a systematic literature review. By analyzing articles published between 2017 and 2023, this research employs identification, screening, and in-depth analysis techniques to evaluate the content. Inclusion and quality assessments of the articles are conducted meticulously to ensure accuracy and avoid bias. A total of 24 relevant articles were identified, with most studies being experimental and involving high school students with sample sizes ranging from 22 to 48 students. The most common research instrument was tests, focusing on fluid topics, and the frequently measured variable was students' creative thinking skills. PjBL is often integrated with the STEM approach. Recommendations from this review include the development of PjBL on a wider range of physics topics and more comprehensive measurement of students' skills. Teachers are also advised to manage time allocation effectively when implementing PjBL. The limitation of this study is its exclusive focus on PjBL in Indonesia. Further research is recommended to explore the application of PjBL in enhancing critical thinking, problem-solving, and student literacy in less commonly tested physics topics such as Newton's Laws, Temperature and Heat, Electromagnetism, Light, and Waves

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the level of student conceptual understanding of Static Fluid material using the Rasch Model. The study used a cross-sectional survey with a quantitative descriptive approach. The sample was invited using simple random sampling of as many as 50 students of class XI Science in Malang Regency. The research used 15 multiple-choice questions on the conceptual understanding of static fluids. Research data analysis used the Rasch Model, assisted by Ministep software version 4.8.2.0. Based on the results of data analysis, it was concluded that the average distribution of the ability to understand static fluid concepts was above the standard average difficulty of the questions. This is indicated by 34 out of 50 students falling into the high and medium ability categories, meaning that students' conceptual understanding of static fluid material is quite good. The results of this research also found that students' conceptual understanding in the sub-chapter of Archimedes' principle was relatively low, as evidenced by 13 students answering correctly the question of conceptual understanding in this sub-chapter. Meanwhile, students' conceptual understanding of the hydrostatic pressure sub-chapter is relatively high, as indicated by 47 students answering correctly the question of conceptual understanding in this sub-chapter. This research is beneficial in providing a clear picture of students' conceptual understanding of static fluid material, highlighting areas where students still face difficulties. Teachers can use this information to design appropriate teaching strategies. Additionally, applying the Rasch model in evaluating conceptual understanding can enrich the literature in physics education.
