Abstract

The high rate of occupational accidents in the construction sector is often attributed to low worker safety awareness. In regions like Muna Regency, where infrastructure development is intensifying, enhancing safety awareness through systematic Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) education and training is critical. However, empirical evidence on the effectiveness of such training in this specific regional context remains limited. This study aims to analyze the effect of OHS education and training on the safety awareness of infrastructure construction workers in Muna Regency. This research employed a quantitative approach with a survey method. Data were collected through structured questionnaires distributed to 100 construction workers selected via purposive sampling. The instruments measured variables related to OHS training and safety awareness using a Likert scale. Data analysis involved validity and reliability tests, followed by simple linear regression analysis using SPSS. The findings indicate that OHS education and training have a positive and significant effect on workers' safety awareness. The regression analysis resulted in a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.42, meaning that 42% of the variance in safety awareness is explained by the training variable. The significance value was less than 0.05, confirming the statistical significance of this relationship. This study concludes that systematic OHS education and training are crucial factors in improving the safety awareness of construction workers in Muna Regency. These results highlight the need for contractors and local government agencies to prioritize and institutionalize continuous, high-quality OHS training programs to foster a stronger safety culture within the regional construction industry.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the development of Malay Islam and Islam Nusantara by analyzing its historical, cultural, and social dimensions within the Southeast Asian context. The research employs a qualitative approach based on a literature review, analyzing academic books, journal articles, and relevant scholarly sources related to Islamization and local Islamic dynamics. The findings indicate that Islam developed in the Malay–Nusantara region through peaceful mechanisms, particularly trade, Sufi-based da‘wah, and sustained social interaction. This process not only facilitated the emergence of early Islamic centers but also encouraged cultural acculturation between Islamic teachings and local traditions. Culturally, this interaction produced moderate, adaptive, and contextual forms of religious expression, reflected in local customs, language, and Islamic literacy traditions. Socially, Islam played a significant role in shaping governance structures, educational institutions, and social cohesion from the pre-colonial period to the modern era. Overall, this study confirms that Malay Islam and Islam Nusantara represent a creative interaction between Islamic values and local culture, resulting in a distinctive, inclusive, and socially relevant form of Islam.

Abstract

Background: Environmental health management in health care facilities is an important determinant in ensuring service quality and patient safety. Community health centres in Muna Regency face real challenges in the form of non-standardized medical waste management, limited water quality monitoring, and inadequate basic sanitation facilities. Previous research emphasizes the importance of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in primary care accreditation, but the integration of environmental health indicators into the quality system of health centre in Indonesia has rarely been studied, especially in resource-limited areas. Methods: This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design in three Health centre (Kabawo, Katobu, and Tampo) through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document reviews. Results: The results show that the dominant weaknesses in each health centre are different: Kabawo faces problems in medical waste management, Katobu in the consistency of clean water monitoring, and Tampo in limited sanitation infrastructure, all of which have a direct impact on accreditation scores. Conclusion: These findings confirm the relevance of integrating the Environmental health  Model into the primary service quality system as an adaptive strategy that can strengthen health policies, improve human resource capacity, and encourage the achievement of accreditation quality standards in areas with limited resources.
