Abstract

This research aims to analyze the structure of macrozoobenthos community in the intertidal zone of Api-Api Village waters, Bandar Laksamana District, Bengkalis regency. There were 5 subzones determined as the observation areas. Each subzone consists of 5 subplots which taken parallel to the coast with a distance of 10 meters from each subplot. The types of macrozoobenthos found consisted of 4 classes, 19 families, and 23 species. The diversity index for each subzone ranged from 2.72 to 3.55, species uniformity index ranged from 0.78-0.91 and dominance index ranged from 0.11-0.19, with the criteria of a uniform distribution pattern. The highest macrozoobenthos density was in subzone 1 with a total density of 19.6 ind/m2, while the lowest was in subzone 4 with a total density of 10.6 ind/m2. The result of statistical tests using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at a confidence interval of 95% (ɑ = 0.05), showed that macrozoobenthos density in subzone 1,2,3,4 and 5 was not significant in different (P = 0.824), which means that there was no real different density that five subzones.

Abstract

Abstract

Jenis kepiting Uca sp yang didapatkan terdiri 6 (enam) spesies yaitu U. dussumieri, U. coarctata, U. coarctata flamula, U. forcipata, U. rosea, U. arcuata. Kelimpahan kepiting Uca sp berkisar berkisar 6,37-8,89 ind/ . Hubungan kandungan bahan organik total sedimen dengan kelimpahan kepiting Uca sp diperoleh persamaan Y = 1,3542 + 0,5962x, memiliki hubungan yang positif dengan koefisien korelasi (r) = 0,4052, semakin tinggi bahan organik maka semakin tinggi pula kelimpahan kepiting Uca spp

Abstract

Research on the population structure of bamboo shells (Solen lamarckii) in the intertidal zone of Sri Tanjung Village, Rupat District, Bengkalis Regency was carried out in October 2021-March 2022. This study aimed to determine the population structure of bamboo shells and the relationship between the size of bamboo shells and the depth of bamboo shells in the sediment. The intertidal zone is divided into 5 subzones. Each subzone is placed in 3 plots measuring 1 x 1 m2 along the transect line as a replication by drawing a straight line from the boundary of the highest tide area to the lowest low tide area. The results showed that the average population density of bamboo shells was 1.20 ind/m2 or 12,000 ind/ha with the lowest density located in the highest tide area and the highest density located in the lowest low tide area. The distribution pattern of bamboo shells is uniform. The size of the most common bamboo shells found is 5.14-5.70 cm. The relationship between the size of the bamboo shells and the depth of the bamboo shells in the sediment is very weak.

Abstract

Lokan (Polymesoda expansa) is a bivalve in mangrove forest areas with important ecological and economic values. The lokan population plays a role in maintaining water quality and is a source of livelihood for coastal communities. This study aims to analyze the abundance, distribution patterns, and frequency distribution of individual sizes of P. expansa in the mangrove forest of Banglas Village, Meranti Islands Regency. The research was conducted in December 2024 using a survey method to determine station locations by purposive sampling. Sampling was conducted at three stations, each consisting of three transects with plots measuring 1 × 1 m². The results showed that the highest abundance was found at Station III (±16.33 ± 5,508 ind/m²) and the lowest at Station II (8.33 ± 2,082 ind/m²). The distribution pattern of lokan at all stations is clustered (Morisita index value> 1). The frequency distribution of individual sizes showed the dominance of sizes 3.40-3.89 cm with 21 individuals. Abundance and distribution patterns of lokan are influenced by habitat conditions, human activities, and food availability. ANOVA test results showed no significant differences in abundance between stations, but there were significant differences between subzones. Knowledge of the population structure of P. expansa is vital for sustainable resource management in mangrove ecosystems

Abstract

Polymesoda expanse belongs to the class of Bivalves found in mangrove forests; their habitat is between mangrove roots on muddy substrates, sandy mud and mangrove litter. This study aims to determine the abundance of P. expansa in Anak Setatah Village, Kepulauan Meranti Regency, examine the size-frequency distribution, and investigate the distribution pattern in the area. The study was conducted in October 2024 by using a survey method. The sites were located in the coastal waters of Anak Setatah Village. Station I is near residential areas, Station II is near fishing ports, and Station III is near agricultural areas. A one-way ANOVA was used to analyse differences in abundance between stations and zones. The results revealed significant differences in abundance, with Station II (near fishing ports) exhibiting the highest abundance and Station I (near residential areas) showing the lowest. The middle zone had the highest abundance among the zones. Furthermore, based on the results of the ANOVA test (p< 0.05), there is a significant difference in abundance between stations. The LSD test revealed a substantial difference in abundance between stations I and II, and stations I and III. However, no significant difference was found from the ANOVA test, with a p-value of 0.125 > 0.05, indicating that there was no significant difference in abundance between zones. The size frequency of P. expansa ranged from 17.6-64.8 mm, and the distribution pattern was clustered
